So beautiful and talented! Oona and Gage Brown will one day be considered the pioneers of the new wave of ice dancing. The old way demanded a childish, waif-like porcelain doll of a female who is dominated by the larger, taller, stronger Prince Charming of a male. Because he is so much bigger, it is the female who gets twisted, spun, thrown, carried, and pulled along. But does it have to be so? Can they not be more closely matched in size? Can the female not be strong and dominant as well? The old model insisted upon the illusion of romance: the couple needed to look as if they were in love, even if they never were and never would have anything other than a working relationship. In the old model, they pretend to kiss, they feign the romantic embrace, they depict the happily ever after. But hang on a minute (screech of tires): I thought we taught our daughters to mistrust princess stories. I thought we taught them to be strong and powerful and to make their own decisions. That’s what I love about Oona and Gage. They are much more closely matched in size than the typical ice dance couple. She is every bit the athlete that he is. That girl has so much power, speed, and strength that they are **able** to take turns pushing and pulling and spinning one another. Their innovative choreography allows her to be strong, allows her to ask him to follow her lead for a bit. Oona and Gage skate as equals; they have rewritten the script. They aren’t acting out some cloying love story; theirs is a depiction of a real sibling relationship of admiration and mutual respect. If this is the first time you’ve seen them, I urge you to watch them on other channels. They will blow your mind.
@@SeanFication Why do you say that, though??? OP may have gotten a little carried away with their words, but they’re absolutely right. This kind of over-passionate speech may look cringe to others who don’t agree with them, but this is what REAL praise looks like (as in the receivers did something right to generate this kind of response).
- INSTANT DOWNVOTE TO YOUR COMMENT! - Please calm your frustrated feministic rant down. - Women will never have powerful partners without the brute dominant strength of the masculine male who leads her into the role of romantic dance that we've craved for decades and still will crave for decades to come. It will always be this way and it will never change no matter how woke you go. - A woman skates beautifully with some power. With a man it enhances her performance, her capability, & he provides a massive boost to her power because his strength LEADS, CONTROLS, & PROVIDES the gateway to THEIR artistic maneuvers that simply could not be attained without his rawness & dominance. - Your comment is rooted in Feminism & Feminism is rooted from Satanism (selfishness).
Their timing on the beat is spot on in their signature lift. It's at the end and begins with Annie Lenox singing "Watch me falling. See me falling." But Oona is climbing. If you just count the beat, you can see that every move of that lift, from entry to exit is perfectly on the beat. It wasn't in the beginning of the season. Being perfectly on beat is their style, so it's good to see them get to that point, given that they have upped the difficulty considerably since last year.
The song choices are so good !!!!Their song choices make watching them double great ! They have such unique moves and are in such perfect unison! So enjoyable to watch ! Bravo
¡Excelentes! Onna y Gage tienen el talento, la sensibilidad, el profesionalismo y la proyección para transmitir la esencia de todo lo que interpretan. Es un deleite verlos. ❤
Resto sempre senza fiato!! Sincronismo, poesia, potenza, dolcezza! Bravi ! Si resta ipotizzati .. non riesce a staccare gli occhi dalla loro danza... Grazie per le emozioni che suscitate! Complimenti a tutti!!❤ Vi meritate il meglio!
Best triple spin and triple lift of the season. Even when they missed on the first twizzle, their recovery was lightning fast. They nailed the second twizzle, which is harder because it was done on the opposite foot.
I just love watching these two grow with each and every program. They remind me of Charlie White and Meryl Davis, you can see the passion in their skating and that is huge because they are siblings. I can't wait to see what these two do in the future.
duCheney: You two are absolutely fabulous, and your skating is a joy to watch, you are absolutely perfect. Much success to you in the future and congratulation on all you've achieved so far, with all my love.
Honestly, I enjoy seeing them both in the same thing. I do not know the formal name for what Gage is wearing, but their lines are better defined when you can see their whole body instead of a flouncy costume. That’s just me. Nice, Joe Bonamassa….I knew we were going to have fun!
Not sure what's up with them this year. They are amazing skaters, but something seems off with Oona to me. Anyone else notice it this year? I love these two, they are usually the most fluid and synchronized skate couple I've ever seen!
