It could have been perfect if its on positive display. The GW M5610-1 is still in the market because it is still the best among the 5600 series in terms of specs, weight, size, readability and price point.

You can order that exact combi bracelet from Casio parts suppliers. I modded my own GW-M5610-1ER with one and have been very happy with the combination.

Nice addition. I really wish Casio would release a standard positive display variant with the same BT module. While the yellow/gold GW-B5600BC-1ER has a positive display, I'm not a fan of the yellow tint and the very reflective gold surround.

This is the next vid you were talking about. I actually got this watch in replacement of the GW-M5610 because it displays the current time on the stopwatch and timer. I even got it from Japan right before it got released in America.

I feel the same way about that feature. Most of the high end calibers seem to show something else there, hours on the stopwatch and beginning time on the countdown timer.

I looked at getting the GW-M5610-1, but decided to splurge and get the same module in a GW-S5600-1JF for the more subdued graphics, titanium caseback and carbon fiber strap. I have on order a GW-B5600BC-1ER. I wanted the positive display, so I had to order it from the UK or get the -1JF version from Japan. Only the negative display versions were available in the US market.

Last Watch One would think that the carbon fiber would feel too stiff on the wrist, compared to the more flexible resin straps. But, perhaps because the watch is so light, it is very comfortable for all activities. It does stand off the wrist, in spots, more than a resin strap, but I am fine with that. I have so many watches now that it is unlikely I will wear out any of my resins straps, but it is nice to know the carbon fiber strap should last well past me.

You are right! The new B5600 does address the shortcomings of the M5610...BUT it doesn't look as good (personal taste) I agree that the day/month would be better than month/day format, and a longer backlight too. Multi-band 6 may go, but i live in the southern hemisphere, so doesn't work here anyway. The bluetooth feature is great, i admit. But once set, it can basically be forgotten. I mean, how accurate does a wristwatch have to be anyway? Also, those fancy alarms are not loud enough to wake you, or hardly noticeable even during the day. IF Casio were to make a B5600 with the "retro" styling similar to the M5610, i would buy one in a hot second. But for me, form over function. I love the look of the retro M5610

I have this exact watch. Let me know what you think of the solar battery. I have found this to be the weakest part of the watch - especially for the UK weather and winter darkness. I usually have about 25% or less charge for winter and often get "low battery" alerts and sometimes the watch even shuts down. I am waiting for the summer when I hope to really get the sunlight on this to give the battery a boost. When I ordered it, my biggest worry was the stealth dark display and whether it's readable but that is fine in good light and it has a manual light anyway to illuminate it - but the problem, as stated is the battery charge for dark seasons and miserable weather.

You oughta be able to extend the backlight duration in the settings. I did on my GWM500 which is functionally nearly identical to the 5610. In fact every G-shock or Protrek I own lets you chose between 1 or 3 seconds for the duration of the backlight, I'd be very surprised if the 5610 couldn't.

Well in fact you can choose between 2 and 4 secs backlight duration directly on the watch.

I think you could rename the channel NQTLW - Not Quite The Last Watch :-) I just bought a GW-B5600BC-1BER yesterday (12th December '19). It's my first G-Shock and my 4th Casio. Others are: "Marlin" diver, Pro-Trek PRW-3000-1A, and an old ana-digi beater watch I bought 35 years ago, now lost.

Love G shock but not real sure about the Bluetooth need. Not convinced on why it's needed or how it's advantageous to the owner. Any thoughts from someone who has a Bluetooth G-SHOCK? Would love to hear from you.

Michael Hargis - setting reminders, alarms, time zones is easier by bt, the find my phone function is useful, if you have no atomic it will sync the time through your phone.

IMO, multi band 6 is way better than bluetooth in a g-shock. With multi band 6 you don't have to do a thing and the watch will set itself every night and you never have to worry. With bluetooth you have to download an app (the app works okay but nothing special), and every month or so you have to turn your bluetooth on on your phone and pair the watch to the phone and update the time. This is inconvenient and time consuming.

I haven't paired the watch to the app for timing reasons. We are talking hundredths of milliseconds inaccuracy and that is not a worry to me. I rather prefer the function of pairing it to the app to allow the watch functions to be more accessible and easy to set and forget. For example, it's super easy to set your 5 world time zones, the duration of your manual light, your month/day order on the display, and your stop watch via the app. It's a bit of a fiddle trying to do all that directly through the watch itself.

@@gurtana I agree with what you are saying apart from the "hundreths of milliseconds" part. That is almost microseconds and a Casio is for sure less accurate than that. Hell, any watch ever is probably less accurate than that.

I paired it once on my iPhone back in February and didn’t have to pair again. However there are certain glitches with the app. Sometimes I have to close it and open it again

@@nath7486 There were rumors that the radio time towers would be turned off, but that has not happened and is unlikely. At any rate, all G shocks are so accurate that the multi band 6 or Bluetooth is a luxury.

It may well be down to environment and use/ wear and tear but there can be issues with the plastic becoming stiff and cracking. Ultimately all straps break down in the end

My first strap broke after 8 years...replaced it with a combi strap.....much better for the humid weather I live in.... lets your arm breathe......I have the 5600E With tough solar but no atomic clock.... I don't like the dark display in this model being reviewed..... I like to look at my watch and be able to read it quickly....I think many people are drawn to the band....and this version comes with a good one... enjoy whatever model of g - shock......

Someone removing the user manual and some other literature that comes in the box. That would annoy me a little bit as it proves that someone was in there before you and if you are buying a new watch you want to and should be the first person to open it and wear the watch.

You'd be surprised that some models (usually non LE like this one) actually came bundled from the factory and separated from the box (or metal case). Usually retailers or distributors assembled them into a complete package.

I picked it up from a UK retailer HSamuels, they had a casio sale on which reduced the price to £104 but they gave an additional 10% discount for signing up to their email.... £93.60 total price
