Well, my mother is a hiring manager. And she told me that motivation really is a major factor when it comes to hiring someone because someone who looks motivated enough can definitely be trained to do well in the office. As opposed to people who know a lot and get bored quickly because they're doing something that they've been doing their entire lives. It also promotes toxicity when someone like that is in the team.

Quite a scary thought thinking that back then they could hire someone for being passionate, but these days they're hard pressed to only pick the best of the best due to the sheer number of applicants. Subaru was among the diamonds in the rough who eventually got polished and is now shining bright.

Back then Hololive was still a smallish thing and Cover wasn't exactly sure of where to go (their music label had mixed results for example), while not all their talents were growing and they already had one cancelled early on, so the future wasn't too clear for Cover. Then a random candidate shows up with no prior experience, no knowledge about their tech, thinking it's just a side job, but then suddenly the Cover staff is thinking "This is it! We're gonna make it! If we work hard, Cover will be successful!". It's just crazy. I mean, regardless of Subaru's individual success, such energy for a company is priceless: she believed in them so much (despite knowing nothing about them) that they could only believe in her as well (despite knowing nothing about her). The way they completely brushed off the fact she was clumsily trying to talk her way in by faking her technical skills just shows how much more important _real_ trust is for a group: they trusted her so much that not only they knew her quackering was solely to get signed in (which is understandable on a personal level) but _not_ to betray them, as they also trusted her to actually acquire the necessary skills in time to actually get the work done and not cheat them out of their time and funds - they didn't trust her technical CV, they trusted her as a person. That's just priceless.

So basically Subaru was hired because she's an energetic tomboy. I knew you were a man of taste, Yagoo.

I can understand exactly where Yagoo comes from when this decision was made. . You can teach someone about the tech and voice acting. But you can't teach someone to be energetic and enthusiastic about what they do on an everyday basis.

Several Hololive members have mentioned that Subaru is smart / one of the smartest among them. Even though she downlplays it all the time, she must have impressed them with more than her passion. The point "she had good planning skills and put an emphasis on service" sounds.. ordinary, but she obviously was able to impress them a lot with it.

I think Yagoo is one of those types of people who're incredible judge of someone's character and potentials. Not only did he hire Subaru, but we have to remember that in the 5 years of long-running service, Hololive is the agency with absolutely the least number of reported internal struggles or ugly incidents between the talents. Another incredible fact is that Yagoo was the one who took the time to meet with a mere high school girl and her friend, listened to their pitch on a new service idea, and then made the decision for his company to go forth with the project... that project, eventually became hololive, and those two girls just out of high school, are Sora and A-chan. If he was in the sports industry, he might have become a legendary scouter. He has a knack for smelling out talent.

Funny how one pleasant mispronunciation from an accidental applicant that just came across Hololive at the right timing and chance led to one of the most memable and iconic words in this community

Can we basically say that yagoo was luckily hiring a legend, and not just a random duck? Without her, yagoo nickname and his meme culture, and her bright personality is what makes the hololive, the hololive itself

I think it was probably more the fact that Yagoo wanted to have different personalities and styles for the different "idols" and Subaru has one of the most unique and tomboyish personalities out of all the girls, he probably liked the fact she was way different than everyone else.

Yagoo has the same energy like a Producer from Idolmaster Cinderella Girls. Yagoo recruited Subaru due to she had a lot of spirit. Producer recruited Shibuya Rin due to her smile.

Genuinely, that is impressive that the hiring manager could recognize Subaru's qualities. I am amazed at good interviewers who notice deeper qualities like passion and planning. All of Hololive are skilled and talented in individual ways, and I think Subaru's charm and talents are very unique from other members. She actually feels like a true tomboy from anime with a cute side and being that character in everything she does speaks volumes about her talent.
