OP-1 drumkit tutorial - CUCKOO 

I'm a guitar player who's diving into the world of synthesizers for the first time. I know I'm late to this video but after watching the whole thing I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you showing us how you build these sounds from the ground up. Not only am I learning about the gear you're using, but I'm learning about making new sounds in general. Your personality is also quite joyful and inspiring! Someone commented here that until they saw this tutorial they had thought OP-1 was a toy. I think OP-1 is a "toy". We play, we get joy and pass time. Then sometimes we find really great music, or loops, or whatever. Suddenly the toy, and play, lead us to something more solid and less transient. Cuckoo, you seem a little doubtful by the end of this video, but you must be exhausted, you put so much into these tutorials. I hope you are properly rewarded for what you do because without your tutorials I don't think I would be able to work with any of TE's stuff. Maybe I don't have the right kind of brain. You do, and you are a translator as well as an influencer. Keep smiling.

Hi Cuckoo. I finally took the plunge and ordered an OP-1, it will arrive tomorrow. So I am watching all your OP 1 videos again. I first got a PO33 after watching your videos and bought the sound pack you made for that from your website. I think I will end up doing the same for your OP1 packs once I have had some time with it. I will support you as much as I can as you have given me so much inspiration and helped me understand these instruments. The gifts you give are immeasurable. I love your channel, I have loved to see you progression as an artist and also as a video maker and presenter/speaker/teacher (can't think of the right word). If you press and hold on the user slot you're working in, it will start saving the patch as a "snapshot" that can quickly be recalled. You must however get into the computer to give it a proper name, or to delete snapshots, or to move them into custom folders etc.

You make this look so much fun to use. And it really is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Looks toyish. But I now realize. Its extremely versatile and POWERFUL. It can produce unusual FM type percussion. But so easily love it. And as an FM fan this is very appealing to me. Having owned a DX7. Well done sir. Im going to have to invest in the OP1. Ive been seeking a mobile all in one unit. And this may be 6 years old. But its very hard to beat. And the price tag is now justified, at least to me. Many thought this was way overpriced when it first hit the market. But looking at how you put this drum kit together. It really isnt. Thanks so much for this demo...

Yet another great Cuckoo video. Some amazing sounds, and it's nice to see the process of finding them, inspiring one's own journey into the vast possibilities that exist within this small but mighty unit. I'm still looking at videos and reading up on the OP-1. y0! Btw digital FM synthesis (notably Yamaha's on the fabled DX7) is actually Phase Modulation so you weren't wrong!

Thanks again. Yeah well.. for me personally I think the OP-1 get's most bang for the buck. But you'll want to feed it with samples every now and then and then a S2 or antyhing you like really is a great companion. I still haven't tried the volcas. They sound fun, but perhaps a little narrow.

You are supremely talented sir! Thanks for taking the time to make these vids :) The Jury is still out on whether it's worth keeping my OP-1 or not, trying to use it as much as possible. It doesn't really do anything other gear I have doesn't do, and it doesn't really do anything BETTER than other gear I have doesn't do, But that other gear doesn't roll everything up into one package, I'm enjoying myself, but we'll see if it was worth the money In the meantime thanks for the guidance :)

Holy crap, how old is the op1... I've been considering it and now I'm seeing it was already going full speed in 2013... I'm starting to wonder whether the tech is a bit dated already. I know about the field, but 2 grand... not right now. Thanks for all your videos! I've been religiously following your mega tutorials on the Syntakt and Digitakt.
