super helpful matt as always. i noticed in the main mixer out as well as the right led vu meter it was red lining. how do you handle that on the final recording without distortion or unwanted clipping? thanks!

Thank you! Generally you can do a lot with gain staging - tape input level, mixer level and then final output stage - to keep your audio clean and dynamic + out of the red. Sometimes, it is fun to drive the output stage using the drive and release controls. It can help give your tape tracks a big / thick / full / saturated sound. It might put the meter in the red, but it does compress / limit the signal so you should be fine. You can overdo it, but if it sounds good I would say no need to worry! :)
