Love your reviews Bob, keep them coming. Hope you have an S-Class review in the pipeline :3 Might I suggest you show a more interior footage in future tests, such the price of the model/spec you're driving, space in the back, cubby holds, mention quality, also show the boot, mention what hp version you're driving and what engine/hp options are available, handling/comfort and what its like for overtaking.
There's no S Class review coming, Mercedes Ireland didn't think the Internet was important enough to furnish me with a test car for video. I have driven it and I thought it was pretty dull just like all S Class models. The tech isn't 10 years ahead any more if anything it's a couple of years behind!
I have always hated how the top gear crew put this vehicle down and vauxhall/opal in general. They make very good looking cars now and it's a shame what they do them :o(
great review ! have just had one of these in 1,6cdti sri nav form so nowhere near as posh as the model tested here but can testify its a good honest decent car with good build quality and much better performance than my 2013 passat 1.6tdi highline i had before im a happy chappy!!
Good review, I liked the flow of it and the angles used, Only suggestion, turn down the volume when you have the sequences of the car driving by as your voice becomes difficult to hear due to the car noise. I have reviewed the 2013 Insignia Sports Tourer (the one you will test later this year, however the old model) and today I will be reviewing the 2014 Insignia OPC. Very beautiful car, I look very much forward to it. Regards from Dubai!
Enjoyed the video. 20" wheels on a family car are just crazy. Who wants to be buying 20"rubber 5 or 6 years down the line when this is a cheap 2nd hand car? 18" is plenty big on any family saloon I reckon.
Looks like a massive improvement there! Thanks for going through the tech bits. It surely lags a little but I guess all cars from I drive and MMI will become like that in few years time xD
Nice review bob. The insignia has huge potential but whatever happened to the new cheaper astra saloon? The spec is more or less the same as is the size and type of car along with a much more efficient 1.7 diesel yet I've only ever seen three since they came out but countless insignias. Any chance you could get your hands on the new astra saloon?
The music is a bit too loud when you talk plus, even if I guess it can be a difficult job, could you reduce the ... "vibrations" we hear when you start to drive at 6:00 ? Last thing, (for example at 9:20) I believe you forgot to remove the audio from the clip you filmed from the outside, because your talking in the car becomes inaudible
Telgas016 Not a problem, the music last only a couple of seconds over what I'm saying. At 6.00 the "vibrations" is a Cattle grid, that's the only vibrations I can hear it lasts less than 1 second. You are right at 9.20 that car sound shouldn't be there Thanks for the comments!
I've got one if these as a hire car, I must say it's very nice comfortable Does 50 mpg all day no matter what type of road you're on, I've got the Sri 140 bhp 2 litre diesel nil on road tax the more powerful version 160 bhp same engine you have to pay 105 on road tax so get the cheaper one,
Well Opel is german as well... Owned by GM but engineered and in case of the Insignia made in Germanyas well. Just like Ford... Ford of Europe is loacted in Cologne and the european Fords (like Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo) are designed and engineered in Germany, and built in Germany (Fiesta and Focus) or other places in Europe. What I found weird in this video is that Bob compared the Insignia to the likes of an A6, or a 5 series, which it is not competing with. It's competitors are the Ford Mondeo, the VW Passat and the Skoda Superb and then possibly the C-Class, the 3 series and the A4.
Bop, just wanted to add, although to old review, the shopping hooks are plentiful if you opt for the flex rail system. You can then add as many as you'd like to your own like. I think all Insignias at least in Finland come with Flex rail, but the hooks you have to buy separately (say, 10€ per 3 pcs)
***** the intellilink is perfect,my phone connects seemlesly, the system is responsive the navigation is very good:overall i'm satisfied with the system, the bose audio system is AMAZING,and the rest of the car is perfect, very stable and afterall a very good car:)
I got into the car.. to see how it feels.... great materials, everything seem to be well screwed together.... well made, nevertheless that bloody armrest persuaded me to not buy it. It's stupid & UNCOMFORTABLE! You should have found another place where to put the cap holders..... when I drive i want to relax.... bmw series has proper armrest, audi, passat even skoda! why do I need to stay so cramped because of the armrest's design... really?! Passat ultimately was my choice simply because of this. I need to COMFORT! Even the Opel Astra has a proper armrest rectangular and uniformly built.
