I was a GM apprentice in the North London Plant (Stag Lane) from 1972-76. Opel had their service dept on the site. As part of my work with the Frigidaire service dept we drove all manor of Vauxhall & Opel cars of that time. I remember driving a 1.9 Mk1 Manta Berlinetta as well as Ascona's, Kadett's, Commodore's, Bedford CF vans, Chevettes, Viva's, Magnums, Victors etc etc. I even had a go in rare LHD Opel GT for a couple of hours which they never sold officially in the UK or as a RHD car. If this Opel / Vauxhall Manta makes it into production I would (depending on price) buy one in a heartbeat. Go on Opel/Vauxhall I DARE YOU to make this Manta.
Even if it went into production, I doubt it would be brought here to the US. I had a 1973 Manta, but I sold it in 1986 when replacement parts became scarce. I still dream about that car. An electric Manta with the old body style would make a dream come true.
