Opel (Vauxhall) Crossland review | 83bhp version isn't enough! 

Ive just ordered one of these to replace my 250,000km yr 2000 megane, in 'base' spec - no screen, no alloys - direct from opel in spain, and it was only €14.000 straight out the showroom. We have a 3 cyl seat ibiza as well, and we've had that for 10 years +. Its been very economical over time.

Just hired one on holiday and completely agree with everything you say. It's the engine/clutch/gearbox which is the big negative. Slow, clunky, and also huge understeer. Reasonably comfortable and economical though

i have the 83 bhp and I think it's good enough it does over 100 mph not turbo but I find it not too bad unless you're like Jeremy Clarkson anything that's not 130 bhp and less than £21,000 is not good enough. I use mine to go to Liverpool which is 106 miles to my fiancees home and it's fine .great on fuel. the only problem I fined is not with the 83 bhp but with the whole car, it's french. so I am getting rid of mine and going back to german technology . BMW Skoda or even mg zs is even better and cheaper

Had a Crossland X on Longterm rental for 2 months in the Netherlands from Hertz and it was the worst car I’ve ever had and I’ve had many good and bad ones all around the world. When Hertz asked me for a scoring I gave it 5 out of 100 and that was for the ease of using the Satnav which was ok! Worse again I’m due to travel back soon and it’s in the longterm carpark!!!

Engine a little like Meriva always changing gear , also Meriva is probably lighter. That said I DO LIKE THE Meriva and Vauxhall’s I owned generally ok cars with cheaper garage insurance costs . The Meriva I brought was a Tech model with sat nav for £10,500 7 years ago. So if you can get massive discount may be worth a look. Is this the same floor plan and engine as the old Meriva.? . The best car I have owned was a Zafira basic mk1 which did 160,000 miles over 17 years what a work horse. I’m looking at Dacia for next car.

Have the 3 cylinder 110bhp in my 208 so I can only imagine how painful the 82bhp is in the crossland.

Great review as ever Nobby but I wouldn't call 23k Euro cheap tho' maybe that is for new cars in the South. Yes it is basic but that's the way the Vauxhalls are, I know having owned a derv Sporthatch Astra many years ago. The handbrake is straight out of the old Vauxhall Mokka. If I were going petrol I'd go for the 130 hp version. I'd go for the diesel if it were me tho' I don't understand why they have 2 diesels with 10hp of a difference.

It ain’t cheap. Especially not for what is basically a rerelease of the 2017 crossland x you can pick up for £12000. Absolutely no big changes and the minor changes you can count on 1 hand. For that price you’d be better off considering a Renault captur. At least that’s had a full design overhaul and comfier suspension

I own the 1.2 petrol engine 83 hp, absolutely lovely to drive in the city but absolutely a nightmare on a motorway...the engine struggles to get to 70 miles per hour 😭

I have a 2021 plate and the clutch bite is shocking! Is it just my car or are other people having issues? If I was to replace clutch would the biting point be as shocking? Has anyone had thier clutch changed on this car and felt it to be a lot better? Thanks

Don't like it at all, boring and old fashioned, buy a Merc GLA ultra modern and beautiful looking, it will cost an extra 20 Grand but it is well worth it.......

Shitty car. Awful driver. Almost dangerous in its lack of power and mismatched gear ratios.
