Sadly, you are right. Scottie is never going to live that down. He actually said in the book that because he was upset with MJ, he never gave him any condolences when MJ's father was murdered, not from then until now. He also called Phil Jackson a racist. Who in the world does this kind of thing? I was a fan of Pippen until I heard his recent accusations.
@@joshdemay5251 Just because a million people repeat a lie or a false mistake doesn't suddenly make it truth. Scottie himself even walked back his accusation towards Phil Jackson several months later. This is what he said doing promo work ahead of the release for his new book. Dan Patrick: ".. By saying it was a racial move then you're calling Phil Jackson a racist..." Scottie Pippen: "I don't have a problem with that." Dan Patrick: "Do you think Phil was?" Scottie Pippen: "Oh yeah…” Nevermind that as sports historian Jack Silverstein pointed out, Phil Jackson had designed that exact play for Kukoc during a game against the Pacers earlier that season. It worked then, and it worked again. Instead Scottie Pippen refused to play and gave up on his team because he wanted to whine about how Jackson didn’t give him the play he wanted, claiming he was a racist giving Kukoc the play because he was white. The Last Dance documentary pointed this out. That Scottie quit on his teammates. What Scottie Pippen actually wrote in his book months later. "I was so hurt when he picked Toni over me that I needed to come up with an explanation for why I was rejected. For why, after everything I had given to the Chicago Bulls, I wasn’t allowed to have my moment. So I told myself at the time that Phil’s decision must have been racially motivated, and I allowed myself to believe that lie for nearly 30 years. Only when I saw my words in print did it dawn on me how wrong I was.” Nowhere did he make a public apology to Phil Jackson. He only QUIETLY walked back his BS accusation after LOUDLY making it at least two different times in the press. It got huge press and he did not do the decent or honorable thing in response. It was a BS cowardly move that he never made right. Go ahead and make your argument why Phil Jackson is a bigot though.
They need 2 bring this show back it's so good 2 see barbershop talk wit sum of tbe best players and players that played in every role u got superstars role players specialists and coaches guys that have the best insight on the game its great talk
35:35 ~ Chuck is spot on this. The more younger the league gets, the mid 30-year-old veterans get 'pushed aside' for a young player with potential. There needs to be probably three to five established veterans on every roster to teach young players on professionalism.
Open Court is so good you just wish the NFL had the same but you just know it wouldn't be as good nothing will ever be able to compare. Literally one of the best sports shows of all time!?!?
@@pepstalynn that's your opinion and you're entitled to it! Not mine, I prefer Football played until I was 30. I think I prefer contact sports in general to play and to watch!
Nfl is just as good as the nba if not better at making shows about their history and stories of coaches, players etc. Nfl just doesnt have a show like open court yet. If they did, i have no doubt it will be just as good as this.
They said he smelled like he didn't take showers so I don't know about respect, but yeah, it's great he brings him up cause he's normally forgotten in this conversations
He was in a good position coming to the league to see nba eras changing all while he was one of the top players in both eras. He got to play against the players he watched growing up and was part of the new era taking over
I'm from houston and the rockets had a rivalry with Utah from mid 80's to late 90's, all rockets players said Stockton was a dirty bastard. He use to punch opponents in the nuts
If you think that came out of nowhere then you haven't followed basketball very long. Stockton being a dirty asshole has been an open secret since at least the early 90s
Braveheart is a pretty awesome movie. He's not really on TV outside local weekend broadcasts, but Clyde Drexler loves Braveheart too. There's a small movie theater at MFAH, and sometimes they do a special event for a prominent Houstonian where they show their favorite movies and memorialize it with a poster. Most are posters for high-brow art films I've never heard of for academics and artists I've never heard of, then there's Braveheart with Clyde's name under it, lol. I don't know a lot about art films and stuff like that, but as far as 'mainstream' movies go, Braveheart is one of the best to me, so at least Chuck and Clyde have good taste.
This topic and show, is really what I like to see more of. Matter of fact when you go back even further its so much to refresh your mind on and also your prospectives. For instance, I was such a Lakers fan, I live in Chicago and was cheering for the Lakers. I was such a Laker fan, I couldn't truly fully appreciate Bird. I just remember Bird was the only player in NBA History I feared the most taking the last shot. Then MJ, kept getting better and better on both sides of the ball,so much so he dominated equally as much on the defensive end. No one ever seen that in NBA History. So for me I'm realistic. Between the three, you really can't go wrong.
Stockton’s reply. “I take it as a compliment. You do what you need to do to win.” Both MJ and Kobe replied the same thing to their critics as well. Lol
@@Valorant_Dem0n97 I don’t doubt it. But the original question was “modern players to play in converse shoes “. That means modern players going back in time not vice versa. Plenty old timers are tougher than modern players.
@@Valorant_Dem0n97 at least those old heads pulled up to the game in 3 piece tailored suits… modern NBA is a disgrace w how they present themselves as professionals… Fucking dog water way to appeal to kids.
Love Da Jett, but I disagree with his commit of fundamentally sound going to MJ. Sure, defensively there maybe no comparison till this day. But offensively surely I would dare to say Larry Bird. Matter of fact, Bird had the most practiced game in NBA History. I like Da Shaq Daddy, thought many of the shots was luck. But after years of watching, it dawned on me that Bird never shot a shot he at some point didn't practice on. Everything was so practiced, we couldn't never imagine the detailed thought that went into Birds game. Still players like Magic,Bird and MJ were so so fundamentally sound, they were like great jazz players. Once they mastered fundamentals, they would improvise and totally bend and twist the rules. Many young players, don't understand this important point. They rush to improvise before becoming masters at fundamentals.
Bird was amazing. But the Complete player athletically, fundamentally, skillfully on the defensive end and offensive end, creatively, and mentally goes to MJ. Easy one. MJ was COMPLETE. Dude even was the best looking🤣. He Dressed the best also. He spoke eloquently and said all the correct words. It’s pretty shocking how anyone else could be better.
Before they started choosing between those 3 legends I already had a feeling that either 1 person or no one was going to choose Larry "Fkn Legend" Bird probably bcuz of their race. Which is dumb af since Bird was great at doing everything both MJs could do expect being n having athleticism other than that Bird was better nd made his teammates better etc. Even magic said it himself that Bird was better than him and he wasn't being nice/humble bout it he said the truth.
Man i disagree. Yes theyre alll great no doubt. I got Bird in my top 5. But what separates Bron & MJ from the rest is how they play on both ends. Bron & MJ would take the toughest assignments on D, and then give you 30 6 & 6 or 28 7 & 7 offensively. Also, Magic came in w/ a top 10 alltime player & vice versa for Kareem.. Bird came in w/ 3 hall of famers.. Wilt played vs 8 other teams so it wasnt as competitive.. I think MJ & Bron are in a league of their own man.
@@kbiino7938 it's too hard to compare eras, and although Jordan certainly had better defense than bird/Dr J, there are so many changing factors (pace, medical treatment, culture) that made their careers vastly different. Michael Jordan himself has said that it's impossible to compare eras because he never got to compete against bill Russell, Jerry west, LeBron, or any of those guys.
@@stevenzemaitis1513 I would love to see players like bird's career with all the medical and physical therapy advancements that we have in 2021. Players can last much longer armed with that knowledge..
To me, the knock against LeBron is the fact that, no matter HOW stacked his teams were, he's never led an outlier team. His best SRS is 7.0, which is honestly pretty average for a title contender. Yea, he's had some crazy postseason stats, but he also got to play against TRASH for 2 series every year in the EC. He also got refballed hard, to the point where his 2016 title has the biggest asterisk along with the 2002 Lakers. 2014 was also a fucking miracle, and 2020 was the Mickey Mouse ring. Players like LeBron and Wilt can make any trash team potential contenders just by themselves, and are the greatest floor raisers of all time. At the same time though, neither have led an all-time team, though Wilt came close in 67, and guess what, that was the year he decided to play TEAM basketball that wasn't all about himself.
11:36 Kenny did spilled the most argumented topic of all time “ Hand Checking “… “ That Was The Last Year of Hand Checking “… 💁🏻♀️💯 i saw comments in other videos arguing when was handchecking removed from the NBA?? others say in the late 2000s others say in the mid 90s and i wonder if Kenny spilled this info unintentionally 💁🏻♀️🤣
@@stevenzemaitis1513 are you being serious or joking? Lmfao? Dr. J was a nonfactor outside of 15 ft, and wasnt nearly the defender or clutch player MJ was. Dr.J isnt even a top 20 alltime player, to compare him to MJ is disrespectful asffff lol.
@@riyadthebest9518 tally up the all time greats. Guarantee there's no space for Dr J in the top 15. He's probably top 20-25. NO PARTICULAR ORDER And some of these might go below Dr J but there are definitely at least 15 that go above him. To give him credit, he was definitely top 15 before but with the modern era producing all these new greats, he got shifted down a bit. And after lebron leaves the league I guarantee the next era will drop him down even further Michael Jordan Kareem Magic Larry Bird Lebron James Tim Duncan Kobe Bryant Karl Malone Jerry West Hakeem Shaq Wilt Chamberlain Steph Curry Oscar Robertson Bill Russell Dwayne Wade Charles Barkley Karl Malone Dirk Nowitzki Elgin Baylor John Stockton David Robinson Isaiah Thomas Steve Nash Jason Kidd Reggie Miller Scottie Pippen Allen Iverson Kevin Garnett And the list goes on
11:12 That kick lol To Wally Szczerbiak. I remember in like high school, playing a game. A league game lol And this guy got the ball, at the 3, took a shot. I ran up, to try to block it, and I jumped so high, I landed right on his head lol Or his shoulders. I mean and this guy was bigger than I was lol I landed right on him, and fell backwards, right on the floor. We both tumbled to the floor. Of course I got the foul lol I think he got hurt. He was like wincing in pain, grabbing his shoulder. I just got back up, I remember my teammate was like, you alright, I was like yea lol But sometimes you just go for it, and it happens lol Once you in the air, you not really controlling where you go lol
11:50 i love how all media kennys been in lowkey exposes him, they try to present the facts to give him reality check LOL ;D like "heres a stat that shows that he produce triple the amount across the board" you aint nowhere near that player's level lmfao all basketball related people all savages to kenny
Question ladies and gentlemen... Do you think Hakeem would be great in today’s era or just an average Dwight Howard?? I personally think he’d be great pounding on all these young bucks!!
Bring back handchecking. Abolish the three point line. Put a 6 Point circle at half court for Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry and make centers relevant again.
Larry and Magic won rigth away because they were dragted by stacked teams. Not to take away from their amazing talents but it's unfair to compare them to Michael who drafted by a team that at the bottom of the eastern conference. Despite that he took them to the playoffs, I consider that winning
