Art Capadeso Honestly coach Steve Kerr just made a player who had the special ability hidden in Curry and when I say hidden like everyone already knew he was a great shooter but he’s more than just a shooter since this dynasty came about and that is to the thanks of Steve Kerr giving him a great system to run his own thing
That's true. But I remember one analyst/pundit actually saying the warriors are the team to look out for. I can't remember who though. But really you could see their potential in the 2014 playoffs against the Spurs. Their inexperience was really the problem that year but when they got Kerr, they had unbelievably meshed well
三宅円花 Yea but Steve Kerr I don’t think nobody in this room would’ve bet against him because he was good friends with all these people so they all knew how smart Steve Kerr was/is and knew he played for Coach Pop and Phil Jackson
Kerr and Lu were players with multiple Finals experience n Kerr is a champ on Goat's team. He meant first time coaches without NBA playing experience. Can't compare Kerr n Lu with Blatt or Spo on their first season.
Of course no cares about the over rated warriors. That team is a season team, not playoffs team. When iguodala is your finals mvp and Durant is the finals mvp, it really show the splash brothers are overrated. They lost with their 73-9 record to Lebron.
He had a great coach in college his stories and everyones stories of coach Smith are beautiful. Even the one where he sneaked smoking cigarettes because he didnt want anyone, his players, to know.
I really miss these pre-season previews from the OG’s. They were always fun and just felt like a great general talk around basketball and I also think coming back to these now, shows us the state of the NBA at the time and how basketball was played at the time too.
Note, nobody even considered the Warriors. That's a credit to the job Steve Kerr did, helping them become the highest scoring offense in the league with an offensive system that promoted tons of player movement and ball movement. On paper, the Warriors were considered a 51 win team with not great odds to win the Championship, nobody considered them a contender.
@@dipzbeatz9334 not really, Mark Jackson clearly had a limit on how far he could take them, considering they didn’t really improve from his 2nd to his 3rd year, getting knocked out in the first round and only getting 4 more wins. There was clearly a cap to how far he could improve them, although he did improve them to being a playoff team. The fact that Kerr then took the exact same team and improved them astronomically really says it all.
Rusty not really I mean Chuck predicted how Cavs would make it deep he didn’t predict any injury to Klove or Kyrie but still was right in saying they’d make it and they were all right also saying Chicago would be the team to challenge the Cavs which was also true because in that year Derrick Rose almost lead the bulls past the Cavs
Yes they were wrong about everything! They all thought thunder and spurs were the best in the West and They all had the Hawks out of the playoffs and yet they had the best record in the whole league. The thunder didn't even make the playoffs and none of them said anything at all about the warriors but the way they have this arrogant way of thinking they are right just goes to show you they aren't any better than us at predicting
This just proves that Golden State came out of nowhere cuz there was no mention of them and how could they see that coming. They went from a 6th seed losing in the second round to winning it all after one off season.
They didn't come out nowhere. They were good in the Jackson seasons but there weren't as proven as the other western teams like the Spurs. They almost beat the Spurs in 13 and had 7 game series against the clippers in 14. They were good team. Some people thought they had WCF potential. Others thought they were first or second round out . In 15 season, they took one step up but they were also lucky with injuries and other playoff matchups. Everything fell perfectly and they took .
GSW was not even mentioned! They expected so little they did not even spend one minute on the eventual champs! And they were also way off about David Blatt. He might have been new to the nba but was a very experienced coach in europe and a champ. He led cleveland to the finals without two of its stars and was a point away from leading 2-0 going back to cleveland.
Atlanta became Number 1 seed during this season, Al Horford became the best version of himself. Unfortunately, they got the gentleman's sweep by the Cavs
5:40 How close did Larry Bird get to the Finals in HIS first year? IMO he was in the REAL finals - since the Pacers were the only team to push either of the Jordan-led 3-peat Bulls to 7 games (except Utah the FIRST year Jordan won a Finals). Yes, if you have a good enough team and KNOW the game well enough (and in Cleveland's case have the #1 player of the era IN HIS PRIME as your floor general), you CAN make it to the Finals as a rookie coach. Oh yeah - Bill Russell, who WON THE FINALS in his first year as a coach. Isiah should have remembered that.
Not one single word about the Warriors. LITERALLY....not a single one. Hilarious. The old guard is so in love with the NFLBA that they grew up with they never saw the ground shifting under their feet. Time for the ice flow boys.
Jeff Berg What? They all already knew the league shifted to threes and guards but if you were around back then you can’t fault them the Spurs were a hard team to bet against a hard team to bet against and even afterwards they still won 67 games or so in 2016
The league was better with guys allowed to defend... too easy to score now, reminds me of ‘90s All-Star games where each side wanted to win cuz guys still had pride in their teams and conferences but no defense and guys chucking up bad shots and lob passes and the lane is wide open
Rick Fox & Webber predicted big things for the Warriors the year before. Then they had injures then a controversial coaching change coming into the 2015 season
IT predicted the way NBA game was changing that year in the previous episode 402. From video game of dunks FT, and 3s to the NBA. The Warriors' signature 3s won that year 2014-2015 and changed the game. Now players are taking like 10 3s per game each.
Everyone saying they couldn’t predict the Warriors like duhh, everyone in the comment section must have forgot a time in the NBA before the Warriors a time where the Spurs and OKC were just insane teams and where ever LeBron was, was the team to beat in the East
Shaq is just a horrible analyst. He said Blake Griffin was going to be the best player after LeBron declines, and he said Kevin Love was the best power forward ar that time
Dimitrije Tucović During that time, Kevin Love was one of the 4s of the league who was able to out-rebound Dwight Howard in his Prime in a head to head match up
David Blatt was an amazing coach, he shouldve been a champ in 15 and 16 if he wasnt fired for no reason despite having the best record in the east , i think lebron didnt like him thats why
2:50 Kevin Love - 16 or 17 rebounds? *ROFLMAO* his best season as a rebounder was 15 ONCE a few years earlier, he didn't even manage 10 in the 2014-15 season or 11 for the 3 immediately previous seasons. Gotta wonder what Shaq was on to make THAT silly claim.
The Bulls lost to the Cavs in the semis in 6 games meanwhile the Hawks got swept in the East Finals. The Bulls were the second best team in the East and they were close to knocking off Cleveland.
