Open Deck is an open-source macro keyboard with a customizable image behind each button. Using the PC application you can easily upload images and set shortcut macros.
Originally designed to be a low cost alternative to the stream deck it has the ability to be used for much more such as a smart home controller thanks to its WiFi enabled ESP8266 microcontroller.

The fact that this doesn't have over 200k views is a crime

I wish this was at least 6 button or 8 button. Also would be nice to have 1 or 2 volume knob.

I’m looking for the exact same thing. It would really sell well

@@stuart2151 I actually ended up converting unused Amazon fire 7 tablet to do this job. I paid for touch portal app and it works better than anything I expected. If you got a tablet lyingn around you don't use, I highly recommend it.

Relaxing build! Wondering if any custom PCBs and 3D printed may help for upcoming projects? Would love to sponsor and reach any collab together! (PCBWay zoey)

Yo, very nice. Glad to see the home button returns to the last "page" instead of the first. How many root shortcuts can be used with this?

6 apps/folders with 3 macros each for a total of 18

Any idea when parts will be back in stock? The switches linked in the BOM aren't on AliExpress and I'd also really like to buy the buttons from you! This project is super cool, can't wait to build one

Parts and pre made units should be back in stock in about 10 days, trying to do a larger batch this time as they sold out is under 10 minutes last time. Thanks for letting me know about the link I will update it

Could you do one with a touch screen, then simple bond the acrylic keys to the screen with optical adhesive? Get rid of switched and mechanical complexity, add a haptic motor for tactical feedback.

Wouldn't that end up feeling very mushy?.. I like the tactility of the switch. It's clever and feels better.

@@xypod I’m still building the opendeck so I can’t compare but I have felt some amazingly good virtual clicks before. It would make the whole thing more solid in the end. Dunno. I do like this design though.
@ThingsbyJosh

I did try almost exactly that but struggled with the positioning of the haptic motors and getting it to feel anywhere as nice as a physical button

Good project well done ! After the configuration is it standalone or you the software need to stay open ?

The software needs to stay open in the background

How is the haptic working? Will the buttons pushed down?
@joshrogan
@joshrogan 8 месяцев назад
There is a small micro switch down the side of each button which gives a physical click when you press it

Free deck is still better imo

The free deck is a cool looking project however this does have a few advantages: full color screen, more compact, easier to update macros and images, can change macros depending on the currently open app and doesn't rely on flexing an OLED display and solder joints to push buttons. This can also be used standalone to control devices over WiFi
