The Open House of 2019 is documented in this video. 50 people attended. The camera avoided them, they do not appear in this video. The opening scenes show a couple of White Pass Diesel Locomotive. They were scratch-built in my shop using sheet metal brass. The paint is authentic, it comes from the WP shops. A friend did the paint job. The first car, a combine is a modified Bachmann model. The next four passenger cars are also scratch-built.

I have watched numerous garden railway videos on RU-vid, yet this is the first garden railway that has totally blown me away. The viaducts, the spiral, the tunnels, the flora, and the miniature trees make this railway stand out. I have a small garden railway which I hope to extend and I've found this truly inspirational. Thank you for posting.

Wow! This garden railroad layout is amazing, I've never seen anything like it. The size of the layout, and its scenes, especially the trees, are gorgeous... this must have taken years and years of dedication! I also find the rocky mountains are truly beautiful. I have a garden railroad myself, with the same LGB engines, but this layout is from another world!

I am as impressed with your comment as you are with my RR. It is true, it took many years to get it to the state it is in now. Dedication is a good word, perseverance is another. These plants take a good deal of care to keep them looking like miniatures. Too many garden railroaders are too impatient to take the time when selecting and planting. This also applies to placing real rocks. The result often looks like so many rocks in a row or on a pile. I am not gifted, I just take a second look at what I have done, then try to improve it. Thanks for your comment. I do appreciate it.

I am indeed impressed. You have really watched this video with great attention. I thank you very much for the very positive and detailed comment. The figures were collected over a period of many years. The entire layout was designed, built and is maintained by a single person not a team. And that person is nearly 87 years old now. The layout is not as you guessed in England, but in Western Canada. The WP shovelnose engines you see at the opening I have also scratch-built using mostly brass. Thanks again.

Love this! How does this survive the weather?
@Landsend-Railroad
@Landsend-Railroad 4 года назад
The weather is not a real problem. All the plants need the weather! The trains are made to run in the rain. After a nasty storm there is a bit of clean-up needed and a heavy snow fall or frost can cause some damage. The buildings and most decorations are stored inside during the winter, but the trains still run all year.

Thanks Tshasta4449 you comments mean a lot to me, since you know how much detail work it takes to put a presentable video together. It is true, the environment is not always kind to an out door layout. Rain, snow, frost, weeds and insects are all participants in making it difficult to keep the trains rolling. The deer, raccoons, the neighbors dogs and cats adding another source of frustration, when there is something to be repaired almost every morning. Still it is fun, or I would stop doing i

The trains are water proof. A light rain improves the power pick-up from the rails, only a heavy rain with the resulting dirt splatter is a problem.
