i find it interesting that house is completely accepting and understanding of open marriages/polyamory, but an asexual couple shows up and he just has to prove that there's a medical reason for their "aberrant choices." even more interesting is that a lot of those open marriages are the result of some degree of asexuality in one of the partners... "i can't match their drive so i give them permission to meet their needs elsewhere, but i don't want to dissolve the marriage because of all the non-sexual reasons we're together."

Definitionally open marriages can't work. The definition of marriage is a vow between one man and one woman to stay loyal and faithful for life. If you break that vow in any way, you have broken the marriage. It's like promising to keep a secret, immediately telling someone, and then saying that you kept your promise AND told people. It definitionally doesn't make sense. You can make up rationalizations and definitions all you like, but it won't make it true. Even if you're not religious, you have to acknowledge that marriage is not some legal paper the government gives you, it's a promise. This is true across all cultures who have used it. While you can break the marriage and still remain legally married, definitionally, you have broken the marriage promise. It's why certain states have at fault divorce laws.

I'm polyamorous. Polyfidelic to be more accurate . And really weird since I'm full on oddball Hebrew Roots as well. Jealous? Oh yeah, but I did and still do prefer more than one. It took me 16 years fighting myself,....successfully, before I told my spouse, so she knew what I was dealing with. That day I found out she was dealing with the same thing internally. Then the lights came on with Isaiah 54:5...John 15:5 ....and many, many more. That jealousy...well that was what I call "all my eggs in one basket" syndrome, ...but that's when both of us discovered what others called compersion...the 180 degree flip of jealousy. In this "monog normative" world, I wouldn't suggest it for the faint of heart. And there are lot-t-ts of barriers to discover and deal with both inside and out, but nothing that can't be fixed especially when Yeshua shows up. (Boy o boy, are others gonna be pleasantly surprised when He does.) (Oh, BTW ...if you want to argue otherwise, go ahead... be my jest. I won't argue with you....yet. Just know this..., your presence will be required before the throne of God to account for every action, word ...and yes, ...every thought. Why?
