Not only was it a reference to the franchise, but also a meta-contexual joke about TV shows, it truly made it An TV show of all time

To be honest judging by the humor and how everything is presented in the show it felt like it was made after the first movie to cash in on it but never got released and it was stuck in production hell and then Sony just gave up and said" release it anyways because whatever we got to expand our library". It honestly feels like a 00s show

I think the only reason Open Season got a TV show so many years later is that the amount of movies it does have must be watched frequently on multiple streaming services.

All of the Open Season movies feel like a fever dream

No one will probably read this, but to me and probably other people, the first Open Season was like one of my favorite movies as a 2000s kid. Sure it wasn't set in the South (I'm pretty sure it's set in Alaska or maybe Montana), but something about the town of Timberline and the woods and especially the music just clicked with little me. Felt like I was home. Obviously I've grown out of it, but I still have really fond memories of it. Hell I might even post a bunch of fanart and memes on my DA and NG to spark interest. But everything else is just lost to time cause it's hot ass. Even when I was a kid they sucked so bad.

8:12 you know its interesting to think about how you can tell that if the people making a franchise care about it based almost purely on the franchise's continuity, to some extent. Like if they have something to say they will tell a coherent story that carries over pieces from movie to movie. This franchise does not do this.

Wondering if anyone else can relate to this, but I have what I can only describe as "second hand nostalgia" for open season. At the time the first movie came out was when Sim animals for the DS was too and besides the pokemon franchise it was my absolute favorite game at the time. There really just hasnt been a game like it ever since its release, you get to befriend, feed, take care of and help breed animals in different American woodland based biomes. Probably not others cup of tea, but this game was a blast to me (theres also a wii version I havent played that Im sure is much better). Anyway, the graphics of the game, all the woodland creatures shared in the movies and game and them both coming out within the same few years of eachother has made me really nostalgic for open season despite not really liking the movies much lol

A second season is possibly coming very soon, so far there is no confirmation for a release of Season 2, I actually bet that it aired on Discovery Kids in Latin America, Family Channel in Canada Disney Channel in Germany (yes) streanig on both Tubi and The Roku Channel in the US I hope it airs into more areas and more channels
