Thanks Alot Man you trully did get me out of a shitty situation. I was stranded in town with both my spare and daily key locked in my cabin (center console). I went to see a movie and in my rush I accidentally left my headlights on due to my being late for the movie. The external keypad wouldn't work because my battery was completely drained so I then needed to get at the battery to trickle charge it. THANKS A MILLION MAN!!!

It was really hard to see and mine isn't shiny but after getting it open and looking at it, your description really is pretty much on the mark.

This procedure does work, however, I had to use a different tool to open my 2000 Ford Explorer's hood. I tried all sizes of screw drivers but none would fit into the small opening that this gentleman was working on.So I looked around my shop and found a metal file, with a really narrow tip to insert into the small hole space he described. It opened immediately after working on it for over two hours with various screw drivers. The file tip is about as big as a wooden match stick. It is skinny, long (2 inches) and goes easily into this area and can easily be pushed open. I'm sure anything long with a small, skinny metal tip would work just as well.

I tried this trick yesterday. It did not work. The truck has been sitting all winter. Is there a possibility that the latch could be rusted shut?? I have to get it open. The part I need to fix my truck is in the truck. The battery is dead. The door locks won't unlock with the key. With the battery dead, keyless entry won't work. Next thing if all fails, I'll have to break a window. I need help!

It would be nice to see once the hood is open, just where the release key is. Just when you open the hood, you cut the camera. COME ON! Let's see where the problem lies. Think!
