Enjoy your videos. Makes me want to be a locksmith but in Ireland nobody wants to hire you easily. My only choice is to move to the states or the UK if I wanted that career. Pain in the arse.
THAT was a pleasure to watch 🙂 and easy to understand, I've always said great teacher makes for a great subject.... Many thanks... Robbie from Huyton Liverpool UK
Any 3g is a great victory, a lock in use, under pressure, brilliant💪💪💪🤣❤️If it was me, I would have confirmed the heights and cut a set of new keys, with one or two levers switched round, originality is a tough mistress, hate changing things🤣🤣🤣❤️
Dyfrig james you definitely need one of these, especially if you aren’t fully proficient at picking mortice locks cause like I said in the video the 3G114s are very difficult for beginners
Hey mate, use a plug spinner on the first door so it doesn’t lock when you turn it to the 6 o’clock position, on the mortice if you’re on the inside just use an angle grinder to cut the bolt in half. The lock is useless if there is no key. It’s quicker so you can get to the next job. The gap between the door and the frame was massive so 10 inch angle grinder blade would open it in 30 seconds. Hope that helps.
@@FortressLocksmiths lol fair enough, I’m always trying to get onto the next job as never have enough hours in the day. Especially when the Mrs is nagging to get me home as she is stuck with the kids all day 😂😂😂. Nice seeing how another quality locksmith approaches jobs. Cheers mate
Enjoyed your video! very nice...just a couple of questions...why didnt you replace the 3g114 with like for like, or 3g114E..I am assuming to keep the cost down...second question, why not use the Assec or Legge value 5 lever lock instead of the Era fortress as body wise, they are the same physical size as the 3g114, its just the keyhole that is further back, like the Era. its saves cutting out more wood for the lock case and the bolt of the ASSEC fits in the chubb staple..just a thought...
Like you said , job for an estate agent so the costs always have to be kept down if possible, I stock Fortress and Strongbolt so always go with what Is easiest to be honest there wasn’t that much that needed taking out , but good question 👍🏻🔑
The 114 is a 5 lever lock not 7, also, why did you relock the cylinder on the first door if you needed to change the cylinder? now you have to pick it again to remove it.
They do indeed pal, in this instance I didn’t need to as I could see down the side and make out the Chubb markings. But if you’re on the outside it’s hard to make out the different backsets as it’s only 4mm different
bloggs692413 most locksmith equipment companies sell them, but you’ll have to have a trade account with them to purchase , and they aren’t cheap either
I have made a jig for it mate makes the plasticine perfect like other tools you mentioned. Send me a message on Instagram of Facebook if you can find me (gavin Jeffries in London)
GxAxV that’s brilliant pal, I think I’ve seen another video somewhere where a locksmith had one made with a 3D printer and it really is needed to be honest , I really do love this tool but that is the one downside (and could do with the plastercine being a different colour than white!) I’m on my way to work now mate, but I’ll look you up when I get back, cheers 👍🏻🔑
david mancuso no pal, only the staddon pick or the safe ventures pin and cam are dedicated tools for this lock, there might be others I’ve not heard of as well, but GJ doesn’t make a tool for this lock yet
Hahaha im really trying to follow as much as i can bro, im new to the game and i want to focus on NDE - but this is over my head i havent got a fucking clue whats going on 🤣 i would love to do your advanced picking course but im so far away and i got commitments down in london so looks like im FUCKED mate :/
I have seen the decoders where you build the key up but i aint got a clue what you’re doing here, built it up but then using some made pick tactic even after u got the key - mind blown man
@@Nezekeh well this is a specific tool for picking Chubb locks (which I’m told there are plenty of in London) this half decodes them then picks them bud
