Locked my self out rushing out the door. Called locksmith, quoted me $160 total. Did a quick RU-vid search and found your short. It worked! Thank you so much!
Thank you!! Just got off of work working graveyard and locked my bedroom door thinking my key was going to work and did not… used this method once and my door popped right open
My kid locked us out of our room! I used this and we got right in! Yeah sure the card is a little sad but it’s better than the door looking sad lol! Thank you so much!
You don't need this on most locking interior doors. That's why the hall side knob typically has a hole in it. Depending on the latch design you either need a strong enough pin or a small enough flathead screwdriver. You may also have the emergency key laying around somewhere. It looks like a funny piece of metal with one end bent. Many people hide them on top of the door frames. Also, the fact that the card technique worked says that either the latch has no dead latch mechanism or your door hardware is set improperly not engaging the dead latch.
Bro everything was in my room my backpack for school my charger almost everything. I told my dad to borrow a credit card to open my locked room. And after a few attempts I FINALLY unlocked it thank you so much. 😊
10 mins later but I finally made, I realized some dumbass in our house locked the bathroom door and I wanted to take a shit so bad that I tried 3 different methods and this one worked well, the screws are a little loose because I bended over the door to make it easier to stick the card in, I'm writing this comment as I'm taking a dump 😂
@@pastelpancake7113 I would recommend to have a screwdriver, we changed the lock on our door to be easily opened with a flat head screw driver, if you can, do the same if not, tell your mom the problem.
Not sure if you're still reading these but dude.....I locked myself out of my parents house, taking care of stuff for them while they are on vacation. I was panicking because nothing worked, tried the card and was losing my mind because nothing was working. Your video, simple explanation, to the point, and I got it within 1 minute. THANK YOU!!!!! I was going to break a window!! Thank you x1000000000
First off, not sure if you realized, but you basically flashed all your info on your chase card. The indents can still be read from the backside. Also, there are places that sell "shims" that basically work in the same way, and are made out of plastic, or even metal. Therefore, no damage to your cards when it doesn't work right away and you struggle with it for a minute.
My little daughter locked the door of her bedroom by accident. I found your video and followed your instructions and it worked very well, buddy!! Thanks a lot! 🙏👍
Omg you just saved me right this second. My mum and I were locked out of our home and I was so so stressed out. Then I found your video. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I got locked out, I called a locksmith... He opened my front door more or less using this method. He asked me to turn away, but I had a sneaky look. It scares the crap out of me... To think anyone could have got in that easily and quietly. I immediately put in another lock. Currently have had some burglars casing out my house, knocking on my door to see if anyone is in etc, giving a bullshit story when I did open the door... I've realised that my doors are STILL massively vulnerable. Just ordered the things I need to secure the doors. Someone is always in the house until I get it done.
Yeah best to use a deadbolt and reinforce the door jam. Most deadbolts only have to be kicked 1/2" through wood to break in. I ran a steel sheet down the inside to prevent this.
If that doesn’t work, try pulling the knob off the door. There’s a plus-shaped hole; insert a flathead screwdriver and rotate it. The door should open now.
Be careful; the credit or debit card when so used is bound to damage the magnetic stripe in the card. The card will not work thereafter in any card reader.
Thank you so much! Might want to mention that the card has to be very thin for it to work. I locked my dad’s office door on accident and you saved me from a beating!
When I was a kid, my parents would lock up my gaming console that I literally paid for with my lawn mowing money. I would do this. When they caught on, they replaced the knob with a dead bolt. Then I took the hinge bolts off since they were on the outside and took the entire door off, just to play on my console.
I had heard earlier about this hack but today when my kid's bedroom door got locked,I followed your video and after some up and down movement with a card I was able to unlock it.Thank you for sharing the video 😊
Thank you!! Somebody locked the door, but nobody cared to try and open it and anybody could have tried….then I found this and I was the one who opened it!!
My 4yr old locked the door from my room. My husband was getting frustrated. He wanted to break the door swat style. I started looking on RU-vid and came across 2 videos including this one where they used this method. I thought this wasn't going to work. I was surprised and my husband couldn't believe how easy it was to open. He wanted me to lock it again and try to unlock so he can see how I did it lol. So thank you for sharing this. Everyone should try this method first.
My 4 year old just locked himself in his room by accident at 2:30 am and I watched this video and was able to get him out in a matter of just a few minute’s. Thank you so much for helping me out. That could have been a nightmare, Instead it was a quick fix and I learned a new skill that I didn’t know I would need one day. I showed him what he did wrong and now he knows. The good thing is if this ever happens again with my one year old one day then now I know how to fix it quickly. Thanks again!
I want to hug you 10,000 times!!! You just saved me $200 dollars. I locked my bedroom door which has the worst lock to open out of them all and thought no way this would work. Messed with it last night a little, couldn't get it. This morning, sliced a card in half trying to get it to work. Even jammed in a pair of scissors in bubble wrap to help make way for the card, but that didn't help but I just left them in there for a good 10 minutes to help make a bigger gap. At that point, it would gap about 1/3rd of the way in, but the lock bolt was just in there so tightly at a 90 degree angle. So today, after waiting another 20 minutes after shredding through card one, I thought I'll grab another old one and try again. Jammed it in, wiggled, and once the corner was in, slid it down into parallel position in one smooth motion, AND WHOOSH POP, I was in! The relief I felt was incredible. You, sir, deserve 10,000 hugs. The Knight of Locks, the Knight in Shining Lock Armor. I think the goal is to shift it into parallel mode once the corner is snugly in, like you said, which is what I was doing wrong. I kept trying to push it in further so I could get past the doorknob to shift it, but sometimes the gap isn't long enough so you just shift it parallel while bending the back of it to get past your end of the knob. I am gonna get myself a Leatherman multitool knife with the money I saved thanks to you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, wonderful sir.
Just want to say thank you. I was about to pull my hair off trying to disassemble my door lock, as my toddler just learned to lock to door and locked me out of the bedroom. This worked instantly. Saving so much time and frustration
Uh oh, always make sure you know how to unlock all your house doors, especially with little ones. Hope you considered a push pin lock for your problem door or an old school slidelatch that’s placed up high.
CSR: "Thank you for calling Chase bank. How can I help you today?" FormerlyLockedOutPerson: "Yeah. Um... I was locked out of my house, so I used my debit card. Now it's twisted and bent like M.C. Escher designed a corkscrew from a pig's penis. I need a new one" CSR: "You used your debit card to unlock your door? Why?" FLOP: "Saw someone do it on RU-vid?"
It worked! Thank you so much. I couldn’t get into my basement! I used a knife first to push back the front small piece of the lock, then I took a credit card and pushed through as stated in the video. The door opened 🙌🏾
God Bless You !!! this just happened to me, My Wife and Son got locked because the lock is broken and can't be opened, try it and it WORKS !!! without you, I probably need to break the door 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Please dont do it. At least with your main card. I tried it on my bedroom door. Not only did it not work (probably wouldve worked if i jammed the card in a little bit more), but it badly damaged my card, leaving bumps and ridges. Luckly, i used a faulty card(a card with zero purpose) so i would use the card method as a last resort.
