The west of Ireland’s new airport at Knock has a busy opening day with commercial flight arrivals and departures.
On 25 October 1985 the first flight for Knock, County Mayo took off from Dublin Airport. Passengers on the first flight were mainly press and television crews.Thousands of spectators came out in force at Connaught Regional Airport on what has been described as 'One of the greatest days in the history of the West of Ireland'.
