We had yet another great year at Sun Lakes for Opening day of trout fishing with my family! We come here every year for the opener and it never disappoints us. This lake is filled with lots of decent sized trout that are super easy to catch. Averaging from 12-16 inches, these are super healthy fish that are plentyful! Starting in the morning, the weather wasn’t on our side with conditions looking to get worse as the day went on, only after about an hour or so the fish gods blessed us with perfect glass water with no wind or rain. Getting both Seth and Saviors limit including mine in just a couple hours, we were able to relax for the rest of the day without worries. These fish usually hangout from 5-20ft deep in the morning time and as the sun rises they will slowly start moving deeper. But that doesn’t stop them from biting! You can use almost any technique to catch these trout here. Slip sinker and power bait, spinners, bobber and worm, trolling, you name it you’ll catch a fish! Sun lakes is about 3 hours and 30 minutes away from Seattle and when you get there, there is a resort with cabins and campsites galore, and there is a state park was well with lots of campsites available! Just make sure to book in advance cause it gets packed fast! Lots of swimming areas for those hot summer days to hangout with the family.
