My first reaction upon watching this lecture was that he talked way too slowly and his points were too simple. But then I realize that that is precisely what makes him such a singularly effective chess educator, even for non-beginners. Will definitely be watching more of his lessons!

The video ended too soon unfortunately. The critical line after 9...d5 is the one we missed: 10. Bxd5 Nxd5; 11. ed Nb4; 12. Nde2, although black has been scoring fairly well in this lately after 12...e6.

After nf6 white can play Qd2 and if you atack the bishop white can trade nights and stockfish on low depth even want to capture with the pawn d pawn. If you capture with b pawn, white can atack your black bishop on e4 and stockfish at least see this at lower depth with +0.34. So this isnt so clear for me, maybe with longer thinking times it will change. Proble withh al the openings below Elo 1800 is they never happen unless two players play the ein lines.
