As someone who had a house in rural France for many years - including four when we were there full time - nothing beats arriving after a long journey, opening up the house, and relaxing...
Thank you for sharing your journey and including your little dog! Precious! Beautiful house and I wish you many happy times in France! Congratulations!
Also, have you seen Bernice’s RU-vid channel? It’s called Bernice life. I haven’t posted much since we’ve been here in France but there is a ton of content and I will post more once we get back to California…😁
It’s so comforting to see you take the exact same trip I do, except I get exit A-10 at Poitiers Sud!! Leaving Paris and driving south, and (usually) seeing the weather change from dreary to beautiful is amazing. One tip, before leaving, put clean sheets and beddings and pillows and duvets (even towels) in space bags (you can also buy them in France at large grocer stores), there’s nothing better than arriving home after a long trip, making a fresh bed and jumping in it and everything smells delicious! It also saves room in the Armoires/closets. Good idea with the dehumidifier, having one in each room is a must!
Good idea, we have plastic bins we use to keep critters out. Regarding traveling from Paris, we’re going to try and start taking the TVG from Paris to Poitier and renting the car in Poitier. There is a TVG direct to CDG. Thanks for watching😁
@@FrenchStoneHouseLife That’s wonderful. I hope you post that CDG - Poitiers via the TGV adventure and any tips. I’ve been contemplating taking the train too.
Bon retour en France. Ici en Charente nous avons un ciel gris mais le temps est doux, hier nous avions un magnifique soleil. Profitez de votre jolie maison et du jardin et faites de belles balades avec Bernice. Welcome back to France. Here in Charente we have gray skies but the weather is mild, yesterday we had beautiful sunshine. Enjoy your lovely home and garden and take some nice walks with Bernice.
I love the width of your wood stove, it almost looks oval which gives room for an expansive view of the fire, my favorite way to spend a chilly evening!
Congrats on making it safely back to France. I'm admittedly jealous. Leaving the US (with no plans to return) to live in rural France sounds sublime. Someday...
This way you will arrive to a warm and clean residence, it will made life so much easier!
Nos voisins ont proposé d'ouvrir la maison avant notre arrivée. Nous n’avons tout simplement pas accepté leur offre. De plus, nous apprécions en quelque sorte toute l’expérience.
Top vid.we returned to Indre-et-Loire at the back end of march. The flooding was devastating in areas around us . Anglin sur Angling the river I would say rose about 18 feet above its normal level. We are returning later in the year for about 9 weeks.and are going to explore big time .
This was so much fun for me to watch. We have a stone house in Portugal and I'm going next week to open it up for spring as well. What little critters will be waiting for me? Best wishes and have fun!
I really enjoy your videos and the way you incorporate the surrounding area and life of the locals. It brings back a lot of memories from the time we spent traveling in France.
You need 2 metal fans on your fire. They work by convection and are designed to blow the heat into the room instead of up the chimney, they're usually small, put one on each side as its a big fire 😊
I hope you thanked that spider for all the work it did while you were away…cuz that was a big spider and it takes a lot of work to hunt those bugs….and there seem to be a good amount of work there to keep him busy..😂 I am just saying….he did do you many favors while you were away…could you imagine how many more bugs you would have had if that big spider was not staying at your place….😂 So I hope you evicted him gently…I hope…❤
Do you somehow time your arrivals/departures to CDG to avoid the unbelievable traffic getting in/out of Paris? If so, please share! It seems you get to the Limoges area much more quickly than expected given traffic around Paris.
I have found that the key to beating the Paris traffic is to depart the U.S. on Saturday so you can arrive on a Sunday. There are less trucks on the road and hardly any commuters. Otherwise, you just try to arrive early and get on the autoroute ASAP and avoid driving on the périphérique extérieur where all the ports are. I try to always follow the signs to Bordeaux and stay left. I never remember until I see it, but sometimes I do miss it. I do the same thing for departing, leaving on a Sunday is great, but Mon-Wed are okay if you leave the house by 8am or so, and arrive at CDG before lunch traffic. You want to time it so you miss both the morning commuting & lunch traffic.
Ha! Yeah, it’s kind of funny. When we say the name correctly while speaking english, english speakers are like what is that? Haha! Maybe I’ll do an episode in French…. And really confuse everyone. Even French speakers…😂
