No joke, I had a very similar experience to Alan finding the game as a kid. We had this local thrift shop near my house, family owned and filled with stuff gave away. Never went in there, never felt like I needed to. Then one day after school I just... I dunno. I just needed to go in there. In the way back room full of 25¢ stuff, I found the game, buried under a mountain of discount clothes and other stuff. I had two nickels and a dime in my pocket from a friend at school so I bought it. That weekend, the building was emptied and demolished. Years later, I was sure we sold the thing, but I was doing cleaning around January of '22 and found it again.

This movie holds up so well today in a way that the sequels really don't.

Haven’t seen that movie in over a decade.

I’ve never understood why no one else at the factory hears the drums.

Honestly, the beginning of this scene makes you wonder about Jumanji’s origins. Where did it come from? Who made it? Why does it even exist?

I just realized, he asks who put the shoe on the conveyor belt but when he tells Alan the factory isn't a playground he literally saw Alan put the shoe on the machine. I know he was focused on telling Alan to leave but dude, you were literally looking at him when he put the shoe on the belt.

1869 was after the civil war and during the reconstruction-a time of great change in America-much like the 1960s-and it seems that Jumanji had a role to play in both periods.

Jumanji is a board game based on the book from 20th Century Columbia.

This movie was a really good young adult movie. It could appeal to kids and their imagination but it still held up well as an action film that could appeal to older kids and adults.

So this genius made a shoe that is around 2 decades ahead of time XD Wish his project was successful after Alan returned from the game and confessed his mistake to his father!

I'm not sure the timeline makes much sense. The game contains a mid 19th century European Colonial hunter, including his engraving on the lid. It must have been sealed in the treasure chest with an already aged and battered appearance. Yet it's supposed to have looked like this, and been in the US by 1869? (assuming it came from colonial Africa)

I like to imagine after winning Jumanji, Alan walks Sarah home, and then Billy Jessup shows up out of nowhere after Sarah heads inside for the night. (Alan smiles at Sarah as she gently closes the door to her house. He turns to leave, but becomes surprised when he unexpectedly comes face-to-face with Billy Jessup) Billy: (jealous) I was right. You’re not just friends anymore. (Alan glares at Billy. Remembering his father’s advice, he throws his bike down) Alan: (angrily) You know what?! You ever pick on me again… I’m gonna teach you a lesson you’ll never forget! (Punches Billy in the face) VAN PELT!!!!! (Billy falls the ground. Why didn't Alan just explain to his dad that Billy wasn't alone? His dad said later that if he'd known that he wouldn't have sent Alan on his way. But I don't really think it was his fault. If Alan would've explained the whole situation to him, he would've given Alan a ride home and the jumping and bike stealing wouldn't have happened.

I made up a new magical board game, Catan. Catan is an Egyptian-themed game that is similar to both Jumanji & Zathura. It takes four players to play the game & egyptian-based creatures & hazards r released after every roll. But when the player who wins the game calls out the name, "Catan" everything goes away back into the game.
