Love you video! Good instructions. If I may add details worth sharing: the configuration is always saved in the device’s browser as a website cookie, regardless of the server settings. So if you use many different browsers on the same device, or different devices, or if you reset browser cookie cache, you will have to reconfigure every time. The server settings is useful as a centralized config repository to share between multiple instances of Kip. The config is then saved and/or loaded from the SignalK sever by all Kip instances configured to load and/or save from that specific signalk server. About the token in the Configuration screen; signalk has a security mechanism preventing devices and software from submitting data on to signalk. This token is required to submit shared configuration settings to the server, and also required with some “actionable” Kip gauges. The switch gauge “basically and on/off switch” that can be configured to say, turn lights on, the Autopilot gauge which submits instructions to be performed on the signalk network, and possibly other gauges require the token. It is not “required” but very usefully if already setup.

A very easy to follow video... Thank you. It's got me thinking about building a pi zero with 4" screen for the cockpit and just use it to for a kip dashboard to browse over WiFi to the server at the nav table! 👍

Thanks for your comments. I also love KIP, it’s easy to setup and you can make it do what you want. That sounds like a great project.

One thing on the humidity. No matter what I do I am unable to change the units and as such the dial shows full deflection

Yeah I think I had the same issue. Is that in KIP? If so I think I went unitless in the end and then it displayed the value shown in the data browser on SignalK which if I remember correctly is a %. When I tried units I was getting 4500 for 45%

@@BoatingwiththeBaileys It was KIP. I will look at it later and check. Thanks for the tip.

Using "localhost" instead of the IP-address has one disadvantage: it will only work when the browser and the server reside on the same system. I would prefer to have the router always assign the same IP-address to the device that's hosting the Signal K server. Then you may use any browser on any device in the network to display Signal K data.

That is true and as you say if you load that same configuration on an iPad for example you do then have to change the IP. I was going to do another video about setting the system up as a remote station and browsing on other devices.

Is it possible to record to a file all the historical data from KIP?
@BoatingwiththeBaileys
@BoatingwiththeBaileys 6 месяцев назад
Hi, no it’s not possible, you can do short term storage a few mins for example but it’s not database driven. For that you need to look at influx and then use that or Grafana to display your data.

@quiquetorres5040 I log 30sec of wind data in KIP, everything else is pulled from the db and I use Grafana in KIP to look at it or go direct to Grafana if I want more detail

How can I modify something and build? I have run "ng build" or "ng build --configuration=production" but I am getting the same error. Kip is not showing anything, just WHITE PAGE./ I click to "inspect" and show this error: main.js:1 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'production') at 5974 (main.js:1:64836) at n (runtime.js:1:128) at main.js:1:64914 at f (runtime.js:1:698) at main.js:1:49 Thanks!!! : )
