The problem I have is when it says file missing and I try to locate the file; no files at all are in any folders in Openshot, but if I exit out I can see all the files in the file explorer? Really need to recover my work, any suggestions? I tried reinstalling and deleting the qt file etc but still the same.
@@darko1134 It seems you need everything you are going to use for your video in a folder to begin with. If you try adding and taking things out the folder during the project it will cause the error. Hope this helps, not the best resolution, but it's better than nothing I guess.
My glitch so so unbelievably worse and I can't fix it. When I search through to where I moved the files the file explorer does not show the files (I know they are there but the explore does not give them as an option). Then when you talked about a different solution you just x'd out of the error box. When I try to get rid of the error box the file explorer pops up, when I X out of the explorer the error pops up. It is a loop that I can not get out of without ctrl + Alt + Del. I can't even use the program without an endless chain of errors that will not let me perform any other action.
thanks for the video it kinda helped!! my issue is i renamed the original video. now my edited video cant open because it cant find the old name. i tried to change the name back to what it was and it still cant find it! if you know how to solve that im waiting for the vid ;D
Did you just right click and rename the openshot file, or did you save as a new file? I tried to recreate your problem by right clicking on a video project and renaming, but it just made a new "_assets" accompanying folder and found it right away. Perhaps you could try renaming the assets folder?
That doesn't work for me... Could ir be because I changed the folder's name or because I put the folder inside of another folder? Also I select the folder that I'M SURE contains the file and it asks me for the same file over and over... 😭
I moved all of my video files on to an external harddrive when I was done with the video. Then the next time I opened OpenShot it kept giving missing file error and wouldn't let me just make a new video.
Thanks SOOOO much for your video. So ingenius!!! I was just about to call it quits after a day of trying to retrieve my video. Three days worth of work would have been lost. I really appreciate you. I wish you well. STAY ENCOURAGED😊LIKED 👍SUBSCRIBED
Another solution, useful for multiple missing files and wanting to start a new project. (means losing unsaved project progress): Close OpenShot program > Delete the C:\Users\(USERNAME)\.openshot_qt folder. OpenShot will start as if it was the first time opening.
It would be incredibly useful if Openshot could just render them as missing files. Sometimes I need to delete like 20 frames from the timeline, and I had to create substitutions
I exported my project and the sound had some crackling. I went to re-export the project in hopes the sound would fix itself. My project is no longer recognized and cant be found. I get the missing files error despite not moving anything
