This OpenTx Companion Tutorial shows you how to use every single mixer input option in OpenTx. This is a not a mix video showing how to create throttle/elevator or aileron/rudder mixes. Instead, it walks through all of the options available for input on mixer lines in OpenTx.
Everything shown in this video will work on the Radiomaster TX16s and the Jumper T18 (all variants).

It took me a while to do a full glider setup with crow and thermal on opentx. I Did all of it never using the ugly companion. i think that radiomaster is a great radio and very powerful. I was able to do most of these watching your tutorials. I wish that you would teach your subscribers to do everything straight from the radio. The companion in my humble opinion is an extremely annoying tool, and the way it is designed it can deter many enthusiasts from this hobby forever. Of course, it is an excellent practice for anyone wishing to become a computer programmer . Thank you again for all the great work that you do.

I like Companion because of the ease of navigation and the speed at which I can configure and test. I'm aware it's not for everybody though. Thanks for the kind comment.

I beg to differ, I find the Companion software much better as I can carry out a 'what if' scenario based on my fooling around with the commands without effecting the existing settings. Only when I am really satisfied with what I have done will I write it to the TX As a newly to all of this computer based stuff, but not to modelling, been flying quite a while and built my own RC equipment in 1967, this has been quite a steep learning curve but my computer experience has helped. These videos are great, thanks.

Locking this video in when I finally connect up to Companion with my TX16S, so far I've managed to do what I need via the radio interface. Glad the audience base is growing too cause those not on the train are missing out on great content here.

Great video, although I still have to watch 2-3 times for it to sink in. Starting the hobby a couple years back with a Taranis qx7 and a drone, to now a Jumper t16pro and a few airplanes thrown in, I'm still trying to grasp opentx. The Jumper makes it easier to navigate and program and these videos are really helpful, even though it's a radiomaster. Was wondering if you could tell me where to look to get my flaps to go in 2 stages. When I made a 3 point curve --100-0-+100, it works in the mixer page I set it up in, but when I back out to fly, it reverts to only going halfway. Thanks, I'll just keep watching these videos, and maybe the light will come on:-)
@RCVideoReviews

Put your flaps on a 3 pos switch. To keep it very simple, move the switch to the closed position, adjust the mechanical linkage to the flaps so they are closed with no pressure on the servo. Move them to the open position and adjust your output to the desired fully deployed position. A curve will also do the trick, just play with the 3 points on the curve.
@53roger
@53roger 2 года назад
Possibly a little late but here is how i set my flaps up. Nothing to do on Input page. I chose a 3 pos switch then On the Mixer page I have my flaps on Ch6 (this needs to match your receiver ch#). So, in Mixer I put this: CH6 100MAX SC↓ Flp Ful Next line (still under CH6) := 50MAX SC- FLP Half Last line := 0MAX SC↑ Flp Off. The := means to replace what ever is above this line. The number is how far the flap are to extend… 0 meaning Off, 50 meaning 1/2 extended and 100 meaning fulling extended. and the name of each setting at the end of the line.

Hi, thanks for your explanation… A question: I use Quadcopter and like to add more resolution to throttle… may I use “weight” (setting for exemple to 90) to increase the resolution?? Thanks
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews Год назад
I would use the max weight. You can limit the output range if you need to for a FC, but definitely use the max weight.

Thanks, That was very clear! I came to Open TX and mixing because I want to get my sticks to operate in bump or nudge mode. Basically like big trim switches. That is, I want to nudge and release the rudder stick left or right and have it hold that course until I nudge left or right again. Is mixing the way to achieve this? Or is there some other secret sauce? This is for a big RC boat which responds very slowly and I don't want to hold my thumbs on the sticks all the time. Thanks in advance!
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 2 года назад
You can do something like that with logic and global variables. I would do something like this: When Rudder is > 95 for 2 seconds, increase GVAR1 by 10 When Rudder is < -95 for 2 seconds, decrease GVAR1 by 10 Then mix GVAR1 with your rudder in the mixer. It would actually be pretty easy to do that. This video is pretty close to what you're trying to do: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6XKwEHxX03c.html

Question: The “D” Switch on my TX16S is a 3 position switch (I wish it was 2 position switch.) I only want the “Up” and “Down” position to work and the middle position to be disabled. How do I tell the radio to ignore the “Middle” position and do nothing when I move the “D” switch from Up to Down?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews Год назад
Switches only do something on Edge when they're programmed to do something. So by default, all switch positions are ignored. If you want to use a 3 pos switch like a 2 pos switch, the easiest option is to use the logical not option. i.e. SD Up = Do something [A] SD Not Up = Do something else [B] This means when SD is up, the radio will do one thing [A] or it will do [B] if it's not doing [A]. The logical not uses the ! in front of the switch letter. So: SD up is up. !SDup means anything but SD up.

Why do they call it weights instead of rates in the mixer like they do in older futaba manuals
@RCVideoReviews

I don’t know the history behind the naming convention. Maybe they were trying to stake their own ground.

What do you think about radioking tx18?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 3 года назад
That radio seems sketchy on the surface. I will be watching to see if they actually ship equipment, and engage with the community. I also want to know more about who they are and how they came about. As of today, Radiomaster and Jumper are real. Radioking is a website.
