Thanks for sharing. I installed v31 firmware on my T16 but do not see the Mavlink options (serial 1/2) in hardware tab. Do I need to install any components in the JR bay?
I'm confused. Is the flight controller sending the MAVLink data on the telemetry channel between the transmitter and receiver or is it using a completely separate RF link to send the data ? Is the serial port on the transmitter receiving MAVLink messages or sending them out for other devices to use ?
Hey. There is no simple yes/no answer to your questions, since there are various ways how to realize things. In the video the setup was that a 2.4GHz channel was used for the rc data (internal spektrum module) and 486MHz telemetry link connected to one of the serial ports on the transmitter was used for bi-directional mavlink. One however also can uses systems which can transport rc data and bi directional mavlink on one RF link, like DragonLink, or the mLRS project I recently started. On another serial port the mavlink data can be also send out to other devices, such as PC running MissionPlanner (the functionality is called MAVLink router). So, lot's of possibilities.
Hello Olli What am I missing I have loaded the .bin and copied the sod card content but still unable to see any mavlink settings in hardware. Opentx 2.3.14
hey ideally you would consider joining the rcgroups discussion thread www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3532969-MAVLink-for-OpenTx-and-Telemetry-Script, it's much easier to discuss than in yt this is the first thing to test: then you go to SYS->VERSION page you should see something like '... mavlink, olliw-v31' at the bottom. If not, you haven't successfully flashed the correct bin.
@@OlliW42 There are 3 bin files listed for the T16 - which is the correct bin to flash for a standard T16? I flashed this (opentx-t16-2.3.14-v031.bin) but dont have serial ports 1 and 2 showing in the hardware page.
