A few things: I stopped and started a lot in this video because it kept punching me in the face and I wanted to talk. The riots of 1913 at the premiere of the Rite of Spring are hearsay and not a true story. No one threw up at them, I was wrong.

I wonder where that rumor started from. Fatalis is a Dragon that Ends civilizations on a Whim, everything and everyone fears him, even other Elder Dragons. And no one knows when one is born, This Dragon is quite scary. Its a creature that when it appears in the world needs to be killed for all life on it.

Fun fact: The twisted version of the hunters theme within the song when you mentioned that it sounded like Fatalis is going berserk could be a nod to one of the primary and most brutal methods that Fatalis kills Hunters. Keep in mind that Fatalis is the only monster that *specifically enjoys killing hunters. it is sentient in that it enjoys causing despair and suffering* . The Fatalis is known to grab hunters and pin them to its chest which glows (as such in its berserk state) with such intensity that the heat *literally melts hunters and their armor to its scales* . It quite literally has the essences of late hunters permanently welded, twisted, and amalgamated onto itself.

Yeah the "black dragon" gear made from chipping off bits of the legendary giant sword of the Pokke Village ancestor is clearly made from Fatalis parts, yet the blade is said by its caretaker to regenerate after you remove pieces of it. And I was thinking that Fatalis might be "evil" because it is such an old species with human levels of intelligence but no interest in bothering to communicate with us. Maybe because they're old enough as a species to remember one of the ancient empires that went too far and had to be razed by dragons, leading to some of the seemingly odd or overly cautious policies of the Guild due to founders of the Guild being old wyverians who witnessed the fall. And perhaps as a species that lives an extremely long time, the Fatalis don't distinguish between new humans/wyverians and the ancients...? Making their evil ways more of a general distrust of humanity having learned its lesson.

Fatalis is THE monster. While most monsters in the game are essentially wild animals, Fatalis is perhaps the only one that can be considered evil. According to the lore, the armor you make from it whispers sinister things to you when you wear it. It's even implied that wearing its armor can take over your body and mind, transforming your character into a new Fatalis. This score drives home what a terrifying, destructive and corrupting presence Fatalis is.
@lukefonfabre911
@lukefonfabre911 2 года назад
Iceborne also makes a subtle detail in that, given how the armor works you can get an idea of how strong he is. First you can always use any skill in it's strongest form, second you're always topped off in life and stamina meaning you're always ready to battle, third all of his innate skills are battle oriented to represent the huge aggression and last the fact that it has the most slots of any armor means you can always be as strong as you need to be, all of this represent it's Monster like no other set does in the game and it's amazing for it.

Yes, the Fatalis fight in Monster Hunter (specifically Iceborne) is relentless, there's little to no time to do anything, it is 30 full minutes of you on your A game, any less than that and he WILL kill you. Fatalis in lore is described as a walking catastrophe, it is speculated he razed an entire civilization in a single night, and you have to essentially fight him on your own. I love how the chorus is essentiallly crying in fear.
@noivern1735
@noivern1735 Год назад
In my own mind, after hearing the theme a lot since I lost a lot (I main insect glaive, so it's kind of reasonable), I've always interpreted the theme as the souls of Castle Schrade crying out their terror from when It arrived and silenced them. Always meant to be a reminder, and make you afraid to take it on alone, only for Proof Of A Hero to take over near the end, to give hope that you can avenge the losses of the masses in those ruins. And considering you can conquer Safi, who is equal (in lore) to Fatalis, I imagine it as "If you can overcome the Devil (Safi), you can overcome the God (Fatalis)."

You’re completely right that fatalis is pure evil. It’s almost like natures final stand. Fatalis is considered a threat to all around it, and even elder dragons fear it and run from it. There’s also legends that those who wear armor made from fatalis, that they eventually go missing. This gives us the hint that fatalis’ armor is still alive and literally consumes them, taking over their bodies. Fatalis is also known as one of the three “black dragons,” meaning it’s one of the 3 most evil and powerful monsters that Capcom didn’t even use it in marketing until it’s debut in iceborne. Very glad they made its theme so powerful in iceborne, but also very glad that in the final moments of the final boss of monster hunter they play “proof of a hero,” which makes it feel like you can take on anything!

Fatalis is unique in design cause in a vaccuum he just looks like a generic dragon, but he's unique as a final boss in monster hunter because they go so far in trying to describe the anatomy, ecology, and natural aspects of all of the other monsters to convince you that these are real living creatures that are just trying to survive and not inherently evil or benevolent. So Fatalis is a complete 180 from all the previous monsters because there's no explanation for its power or malevolence or reason for its aggression.

@woahmama

Seeing that a lot people already explained the Fatalis lore, I wanna bring up his visual design. On the surface Fatalis has a very simple design when compared to other monsters in the series. He looks like a typical european western dragon with not a lot of special elements. The thing that mostly sticks out are his proportions - he has a very long neck, small front legs and quite a huge head. And while looking at him normally he might not strike as jawdropping, I think his looks may represent a lot of things: - Since Fatalis is known as enemy to humanity itself, I heard somewhere that his long neck and high position of the head is there to mean the domination over humans. He almost always in his cutscenes looks down on everything while standing up, he is a dominant species, the scariest black dragon of them all. It's even more apparent in White Fatalis cutscene where he additionaly stands on top of a giant tower, making him even more imposing. - To western audience he may look quite "normal" but in Japan I think his looks are quite "exotic" and it's propably the most special and maybe even extreme representation of european myth dragons. An evil lizard entity taking over a castle/kingdom setting everything on fire and killing everything in it's sight. This is basically Fatalis but the scale of the destruction is set to a way higher level and instead of crazy sources of power, Fatalis uses just the fire and nothing more and it comes just from him and only his inside, no powder, no outside source and it gives off that pure energy of just an evil being that is friend to no one and needs no one. It's a myth of human eating dragon taken to the highest level and you can feel the respect Capcom gives to that style of myth. Eastern dragons usually are peaceful creatures, you can even see this with Teo and Kushala being peaceful untill you attack them. Fatalis does not fall into this behavior at all and he is a contrast to all creatures in MH basically. - Also as a personal note, though I can't use any source or confirmation on this, long snake like neck and twisted horns give off almost a connection to the visual of the devil as a snake in the Bible. It does not help that he seems to almost smile and licks his lips before fight as if he enjoyed the violence he is about to commit. Fatalis is a perfect example of power of simplicity. Because he doesnt seem to work like a normal animal, his intentions seem to be purely evil and he is not on the side of any ecosystem, and his power does not benefit anyone... he is almost like an invader, an evil spirit. And he represents that ancient type of evil the best. He is is "the Dragon" of Monster Hunter.

@En_The_S1LLY 2 года назад

@woahmama
@woahmama 2 года назад
@@En_The_S1LLY Yeah a lot of Elder Dragons are actually not interested in killing you, there are a few exeptions of course like Lunastra but they are agressive by their nature, not hatered for humanity. This is also why I think so many huge creatures that are not Black Dragons are agressive - they are so big that the safety of way smaller creatures don't really bother them. They like humans change the ecosystem itself by even simply moving around. Fatalis on the other hand is quite small, scares everything away, not just humans but also animals and seems to have no need for normal food. He stays in one place for thousand of years and doesnt even bother to hunt or live like a normal animal. And he is noted to hate humans in lore so there is that. He also lacks explanation for the disasters he is causing, usually the final bosses end up as final bosses due to their sudden appearance and feeding habits. Xeno and Safi feed of energy and seem to be alien in origin, Shar Ishvald might as well be just a creature that by mistake left it's underground environment and creates underground shaking to move or just sucks in prey like Antlion larva, Gaismagorn is also feeding on energy and needs to surface to feed... there always seems to be some explanation of some sort, only Fatalis seems to have no Connection to feeding off of things, no real need to attack specific places and yet he only stays at old kingdoms, castles and places of ancient human activity, propably related heavy hunting activity (the tower where White Fatalis appears was made of Kushala Daora skin according to MH Dos) and just... exists.He feels super uncanny and weird in his actions.

Some fun background about Fatalis. Fatalis was the secret final boss of the original Monster Hunter game. These secret monsters, called the "Black Dragons" of which there are only 5, were never shown in any promotional material or referenced officially. They were legends spread between the mouth of players and on forums. During the 15th anniversary of the series, Capcom finally broke the silence on the Monsters and created a short clip of a new rendered Fatalis which got a lot of fans really excited about seeing it in Iceborne, which at the time wasn't planned at all. After seeing the fan reaction, they started developing Fatalis as the final content update for the Iceborne expansion and made one of the best fights in series imo. This was a labor of love from the devs to the fans. Great video as always! The violent demon, the world eater, devours all its wake, and the music makes it all too apparent. Doubly so in the case of Savage Deviljho That said, I HIGHLY recommend the original version/ the one from 4U over the version from World. It captures the raw essence of the piece much closer to that of the Rite of Spring. The MHW version is just not as dynamic and is lacking in the OOMPH factor because of the composition changes.

The case being here that Fatalis's theme is officially called "The Legend Descends". And it is perfectly fitting to every event transpiring in this song. The song itself is more than just a theme, but a story. And throughout the song you can catch glimpses of previous game entries within it. There is the main theme of the hunters "Proof Of A Hero", the themes to both Pokke and Kotoko villages, the main title theme for iceborne, and some of the main theme for the base game to world. Another fun note is that the score for this is completely new for Fatalis and resembles nothing of the original theme from previous entries in the series. Each Fatalis (black, crimson, and white) all had their own themes and each was very similar to one another with various score changes. This version of Fatalis is 100% new and different to the old themes. I want to go out on a limb for this reason and say it's because this game was a complete overhaul with new dynamics, mechanics, gameplay, and one of the best rosters in the series. And that this, being the final fight of the game, gives a shout out to the 15 years of hard work the development team and the players have put into the series. Fatalis was also an unplanned entry for the game. Safi'Jiiva was supposed to be the final boss, but upon popular demand Fatalis and Alatreon were both added. Mostly due to the 15th anniversary promo in which Fatalis and Alatreon both received a high resolution rendering for. And all of this, the dedication and service put into this game, led to this amazing fight and equally amazing score.

One part that a lot of people either miss or just dont talk about is that the entirety of fatalisses part in its theme is essentially just a remix of MH1s first map called forest and hills, later on referred to as Rathalos: Roar!. The transition at 11:30 represents to me the dire and defiant last stand of the hunters (and humanity at large) against Fatalis. Even if the hunters fall, Fatalis could never erase or burn away the spirit and bravery of their actions that day; the wounds they inflicted. We replace the fear from the earlier movement with a indignant and almost foolhardy bravery. Borrowing from Predator: "If it bleeds, we can kill it." Edit: You literally said the same thing right after I wrote this xD

Legends say Fatalis wiped out the whole ancient civilization that they talk about in Monster Hunter. That ancient civilization could fight Elder Dragons like it was just another Tuesday, but Fatalis showed up and unleashed genocide on them all. He's literal the closest to a god the monster hunter world has, he is in a sense, the equalizer of nature. The whole point of Monster Hunter is to be "One with Life." You don't hunt for fun, you hunt to keep the balance and protect the world. Fatalis shows up when you go too far in one direction. Of course, defeating him is also a test of sorts. I've always seen it as proving that the future is in good hands, and doesn't need a winged destroyer to keep the balance. YOU will keep the balance now.

I think you’re absolutely right when you say this is a character theme. That’s what makes Monster Hunter music so great and why we who play the games resonate with the monsters so much. They’re characters. We’re happy to see them, we know them, we understand they’re personalities and traits. They’re old friends. And to see Fatalis again as he was in World. What a fucking marvel. He was never terribly difficult and lost a lot of the impact he was supposed to have in the older games, but in World. That opening bit of music where the percussion comes thundering in and the chorus sounds like it’s screaming, it’s the beginning of this titanic terrifying battle that pushed us further than anything before it. It took by friends and I three days to kill Fatalis, and we were ecstatic when we finally did. This music is such a big part of that feeling. The dread, the hopelessness, the glimmer of hope, that turning tide towards victory, and finally when you kill him you feel like you can finally breathe. It’s so good dude, it’s so fuckin good

What makes Fatalis so interesting in the world of Monster Hunter is that it's just a dragon. In a world or creatures designed to have some sort of realisim or interesting design, the greatest threat is the most generic looking dragon in the series. The other thing that makes Fatalis stand out is what it is. In Monster Hunter the monsters aren't evil, they're animals trying to survive, and animals can't be evil. Except for Fatalis. It's not clear why they did it, some say that the ancient civilisation slaughtered so many dragons to build their cities and weapons, but Fatalis appeared and destroyed and entire kingdom in one night. And even after thousands of years have passed, Fatalis still hates humanity. It doesn't hunt to survive, it hunts to kill. Elder dragons, essentially living nukes, run in terror when Fatalis stirs. The two themes are called "The Legend Descends" and "Limitless Courage", and they really capture the feeling from the names alone. They say it in game, this isn't just a monster but history itself. Hell, their theme is a remix of the original generic battle theme! It was the final boss of the first game, and I love how it's maintained the aura of a true monster.

The first phase to me is overwhelming fear, pure terror, chaos and panic. The second phase is still pure evil, but we can hear familiar motifs representing the hunter. It's terrifying, but more methodic. There is a kind of exchange between the hunter and fatalis, a duel. You've survived long enough to get a grasp of how to beat this monster (it is absurdly difficult). The music synergizes so well with what the player, the hunter feels and how they progress and learn throughout the fight. It's incredibly well done and feels awesome. There is also a third song not included in the video you watched. It plays in the very final stretch, after you've hit him with a devastating attack. The music is cheering for you, telling you that after hours and hours of trying to beat this monster, you're almost there. It's the final stretch and you can do this. It is possibly the most invigorating and awesome feeling I've had playing a video game and the euphoria you feel as you see the monster fall is indescribable. This is my favourite boss fight ever.

Fatalis being the ultimate final update boss of World was such an unforgettable experience for me as my first MH game and just gaming in general. Throughout your countless hunts of insane dragons, you finally fight Fatalis who's just a straight classical European based dragon that breaths fire. No gimmicks other than being one of the hardest fights in the game, something you have to fight tooth and nail with to the very last minute (they made it even harder by cutting down the hunting time to 15 minutes instead of the usual 50). If you manage to get to the last phase of the battle, Fatalis' theme stops and Proof of A Hero plays and its one of the most epic things ever! Another interesting thing about Fatalis as well is that it's noted as the only elder dragon who truly hates humans in comparison to the other monsters you fight which are just doing what animals do, and having that thought while fighting him really adds the weight and fear to it. I kinda wish we would have gameplay footage to go along with it because monster hunter fights are truly something else. Awesome analysis as always!

Fatalis is essentially the end of a Monster Hunter game. Always the same arena (Castle Schrade) despite how none of the Monster Hunter games are set in the same area. And the lore explanation is that, whoever kills Fatalis and wears their scales as armour (which is what you do to any monster in Monster Hunter) becomes him. The second part of the song (not included in the video you reacted to here), is when you take the upper hand in the fight. It's when the main theme of the game starts playing, in full orchestral glory. Because there is a greater monster than Fatalis there. You, the hunter, the player. It's your own theme. I'm a sucker for when games give the players those kinds of moments. Final Fantasy XIV does it too, whether it's the main theme of an expansion, Prelude or Maker's Ruin, every big moment has a leitmotif borrowing from those moments. It just makes those final moments of the games hit so much harder. Also fun fact: that main theme from Monster Hunter World was played at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, among several other video game songs.

The main thing that hints toward this is the giant fatalis weapon in pokke which regenerates daily and can *and probably HAS to* be mined every day to keep the danger at bay

I love fatalis' lore. Fatalis is the embodiment of punishment. An ancient civilization created abominable weapons, crimes against nature, and fatalis is the cleansing fire that was their end. Fatalis have a metal shell on their underbelly, which is created from the armor of fallen hunters. After they're killed fatalis crushes them beneath it and gets so hot only the molten metal is left, which adheres to its scales. It takes the armor of its victims for itself much like hunters do. Fatalis is unique among monsters in that is is truly evil. Its actions are not out of self defense or pride, it kills and destroys because it wants to. It has a burning hatred for humanity. And not only that, its very presence corrupts everything around it. The sky darkens, all other life flees, only desolation remains. Gear made from fatalis scales is said to be cursed. The wearer doomed to succumb to dark whispering and eventfully transform into a new fatalis.

As you progress through the phases, your theme "Proof Of The Hero" starts to blend in with Fatalis' theme, signifying that you are overcoming his might, the last phase when the original Proof Of The Hero plays is when the game tells you that victory is near at your hand. In the world of Monster Hunter, monsters fight for: - Supremacy - Territory - Food - Self Defense & Survival Fatalis does none of that. Fatalis purposefully targets and annihilates human targets, because it DESPISES humanity. It's not rage, it's not a sense of duty, he has a focused, honed hatred towards humanity. There's deep lore for why that is but to... paint a picture; In some Monster Hunter lore and text.. Fatalis is seen melting down the corpses and bodies of those who try to hunt it to make armor. The same way people do. It is THAT kind of guy.

@@StormRiderEvo My proof is the Iceborne Artbook which contains multiple different pieces of lore (such as the fact that Fatalis could possibly come from another dimension, or the fact that Furious is on par with Nergi in strength), and while I can possibly believe Fatalis may be spiteful towards humanity, he doesn’t actually do the many things the myths say. For example, There is a legend saying Fatalis can split a continent in two with his tail which obviously isn’t true, it’s the same thing with the melting armor thing. Plus, the world rendition is the most recent and truthful Fatalis there is. In fact the others couldn’t even melt you onto them, they could barely do anything at all, if anything World’s Fatalis is a much better rendition of everything Fatty is supposed to be. But I can definitely agree, there is an extremely mysterious and un-explainable aura around Fatalis, I just don’t think he’s as intelligent as people make him out to be or as spiteful/hateful. In fact, the ending of IB challenges that whole idea of Fatty being “nature’s force against humans” or The Whole “im the strongest”, suggesting there to be something far worse then Fatalis, but who knows maybe we’ll never find out what that could be. But mainly, the community makes things up with tidbits of lore. For example, the equal dragon weapon was made up due to some early art of what looked to be a dragon hybrid and further developed into an entire war, keep in mind NONE of this was confirmed by the devs. Fatalis has never been recorded to do anything spiteful, it’s just assumed because he’s the so called “god of monsters”. Besides vague item and equipment desc (Alatreon’s says he can shred time and space, so tbh that proves to take it with a grain of salt), Fatalis is pretty much just an extremely strong and rare elder dragon that fates the end of the world.

And the thing I love about Fatalis is you can kill it yes… but it’s like a Lich it can come back to life. What an epic journey this game truly is, thought they peaked with Safi'Jiiva as a major threat to the New World but topped that off with Fatalis. Can't wait for the next World like game, the new one right now just doesn't feel the same.

I'm SO happy that you did Fatalis's theme, I always thought that you'd like it the moment I found your channel! I *definitely* suggest you try Safi'Jiiva's medley next, it's another absolutely brilliant piece from Iceborne that also incorporates a lot of similar vocals.

I’ve been waiting for this reaction! The second phase of the song is my absolute favorite. Thank you for reacting to it! Hopefully you’ll take a look at Malzeno’s theme from Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak one day Edit: 16:31 Funnily enough, the outro of the song is actually from the Monster Hunter anniversary orchestra concert, and yes i do wish to see this piece being performed in a non-monhun concert just to see others’ reactions

One thing that really caught my attention during his introduction cinematic, was what the commander said when talking about the name Fatalis. It wasn't very clear, but he suggested that the name Fatalis, although it was only remembered as this monster's name, was actually designating something way deeper. Once again, he doesn't go into details but just says Fatalis used to mean "a way of existing.".

You’re right when you say Fatalis is not just an ordinary monster. He is one of the most powerful monsters in lore, rumored to have wiped out a kingdom (sometimes even an entire civilization) in a single night. Over countless years, the story of Fatalis and what he did to Castle Schrade became a legend, and he became the bogeyman parents tell their children about in the MH world. So it’s a big freaking deal to the characters when he shows up again in Iceborne. Although you can fight him in previous games, Iceborne is the first canon Fatalis fight. I remember when Fatalis was revealed to be coming to Iceborne, I was like “It’s Fatalis!” Then seconds later, “Crap, it’s Fatalis.” After hearing about him and his lore for so long, I was terrified of the idea of fighting him. I also had a similar reaction when fellow black dragon Alatreon was revealed for Iceborne.

In the game's lore, there existed an Ancient Civilization that was said to be so technically advanced that was well on it's way of completely conquering all of nature, to the point thaat they used a Frankenstein Monster esque patchworks of monster bits to fight their wars. According to said lore, they were the highest humanity has ever reached. Fatalis erased it off the face of the earth in a span of a single night when they pissed it off.

I see everyone talk about fatalis in lore but I would also like to mention just how amazing the actual fight is in game. In my opinion its one of the best boss fights in video game history. Fatalis has the perfect amount of difficulty where only actual gods will first try him but failing doesn’t feel bad because you know it was your fault and not a bs mechanic and you will never beat him without an actual build and proper items. The shorter quest time (30 minutes instead of the usual 50) also means you really have to try hard to best him and use all your resources and all the siege weapons. Lastly the fight is just such a spectacle and made in such a way when you progress through the phases and Fatalis powers up you yourself feel even more motivated to bring him down not to mention towards the very end of the fight when its at its most tense moment you use the dragonator (basically 2 massive spikes) to knock him down and proof of a hero begins to play which is the hunters theme basically saying you are in control now. I love this fight and highly recommend watching some of it if you haven’t already.

Fatalis is the strongest monster known to the hunters guild. He is so devastatingly powerful that he is among 3 dragons who have no info on record because the guild deemed just knowing about it would cause mass hysteria. In this group called the Black Dragons he is known simply as THE Black Dragon. In the past he was implied to have destroyed an entire kingdom in just one night. He actively hates all hunters and will kill on sight, his favorite way of doing so being melting then into his scales to wear them as armor just like they wear other monsters. He makes everything else in the canon look like a puppy

Now, imagine spending a whole year playing this game untill the day you fight Fatalis and hear this song for the first time. As far as i know you never played Monster Hunter and don't have too much connection to the game, but burst into joy and excitement listening to the song anyways. When i first heard this song while fighting Fatalis i started crying with excitement and happiness. There is much more in this song, it has a lot o references to other songs in the game, it feels like a tribute to your journey hunting all these monsters. It was by far the best moment i ever had in a video game my whole life.

I love the *oppression* of Fatalis's power communicated through the music. You get very brief, very subdued glimpses of a heroic theme,, which is swiftly drowned out again by Fatalis. Glimmers of hope dowsed in by flame.

Thank you! Really love your insight to this magnificent piece of art. Fatalis' schtick is that he's the big bad, not a boss with henchmen but just a absolute evil that must be stop and his theme just conveys that beautifully. The comparison with past works like Rite of Spring is a eye-opener. If you could, please listen to the original version of Monster Hunter's "Proof of a Hero" as it plays at the near end of the Fatalis fight and pretty much the polar opposite of Fatalis' theme. I would also recommend Valstrax or Safi Jiiva's themes. Valstrax is farthest to what you'd call to a dragon while Safi Jiiva embodies that very concept. Thank you again for listening and praising the song as it is essentially a love letter for the fans that played the game from the very beginning of the series.

I have fought Fatalis in Iceborne so many times and I can say with utter and absolute confidence that everything you said about the monster snd the fight were VERY spot on. I was pleasantly surprised to hear it from your perspective and how well it matches the actual hunt. Also, I have NEVER heard that ending!! I don't think it's in the game! Hearing the full work is amazing. Final note, after hearing it again, The Rite Of Spring reminds me VERY MUCH of Deviljho's theme, which is also in Monster Hunter World. Oh! I just stumbled into your video by chance. I like your breakdown, it's informative! I believe the bits you heard at 4:52 isn't Rachmaninoff's but Kokoto Village Theme (the first generation of Monster Hunter, where Fatalis first appeared) with the speed increased? Because most returning monsters in MH World have their soundtrack modified to include the main theme/village theme of their respective generation, like Alatreon's with gen 3 Theme, Zinogre's with gen 3 portable/Yukumo Village Theme, Nargacuga with gen 2 portable/Freedom Unite/Pokke Village Theme, etc. But I get what you mean, it's kinda similar. perhaps Kokoto Village Theme was inferred from Rachmaninoff's but made peaceful?

Just a little trivia At the first Phase of Fatalis, we can hear the Forest and Hills Themes from the first Monster Hunter game. Its a throwback to the first Combat theme in all of Monster Hunter. Fatalis, as the Final Boss of the fist game, gives experienced Hunters a nice throwback to the "good old times". He even uses at fist all of his old moves. In the first game, Hunters would mostly repel him. BUT In this game, he gets into his second Phase instead. As soon as he does his Odem, the firstgen-Fatalis remix gets replaced with the MHW main theme Remix, plus he gets to pull of some new fancy moves, Fatalis earned in MHW exclusively. As much as I hate to fight Fatalis, he is truly a wonderful Boss!

Fatalis, easily one of the most terrifying and legendary monsters in the entirety of the series. A dragon that razed an entire civilization, melts the hunters it kills into its skin. The entirety of the hunting world knows about Fatalis, and fears it. Every other monster in the game has so much work put into it to make them feel like real creatures, but Fatalis throws all of that out the window. It's a black dragon that not only enjoys killing humans, but REVELS in it. Lore wise? It's a nightmare that haunts every member of the guild. Gameplay wise? It's a fight that demands absolute perfection and mastery from the player. I absolutely adore Fatalis. It is such a memorable and awesome test of player skill combined with lore that sets it above the rest of the cast of monsters.

Fatalis is likely the most dangerous monster in all of Monster Hunter. Not only is it incredibly powerful, but it actively attacks humans. Other monsters may attack you because you threaten them, but Fatalis will attack you because it wants to eradicate humanity. Fatalis burnt down an advanced civilisation in a single night and it's presence alone scares off most living creatures. The word Fatalis was originally used to describe the phenomenon of this mass destruction, but over time it became synonymous with the monster itself.

Fatalis is the mightiest dragon in Monster Hunter and the only creature in the series that looks like an average western dragon. While all other creatures in the history of Monster Hunter look like they had to evolve to survive, Fatalis looks like a giant black lizard made out of metal, and while all other creatures have all sorts of creative powers, all Fatalis does is breathe fire, with no seeming explanation to how and to why it's so powerfull, it makes him feel so unnatural, specially considering how it doesn't move at all when there aren't any humans nearby, almost as if it only lives to hunt them...

Fatalis was the final boss of the first Monster Hunter game. The music in it's theme is essentially the battle music from the first map of the first game, unofficially Rathalos' theme, called "Roar." The Fatalis theme is basically that song with chanting added; I think it's great. 8:17 - this "courage" theme you're pointing out is also the main melody of the main hub village of the first MH game, Kokoto Village, called "Awakening."
