Mariah started out as a background singer and says that she had to learn harmonies early on. Mariahs understanding of harmonies is brilliant. She says it I her book that that’s one of her superpowers. She’s truly a genius. These harmonies are amazing!

I love all THREE versions of this song from Mariah. The original 2010 solo version from Mariah Carey...the 2nd version from the 2015 Hallmark movie ('A Christmas Melody' - 2015) that Mariah produced, directed, and played a supporting acting role in...and this new 2020 collaborative version with Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, and Ariana Grande.

Ahhh... I loved this reaction Jess. I'm on a desk top.. so I don't have the emojis to let ya know I watched all the way through.. ;) I didn't view Jennifer as being lost at all.. in fact.. I just saw her as just being a little too comfortable.. and maybe not being as present to the camera's as maybe she should have.. and just doing her own thing really. I could be wrong too.. but that was my take on it. I kinda love Jennifer's personality and how she is spontaneous and a bit unpredictable. I lovvvvvvvvved that so much from her as a judge on The Voice.. she did a lot of that. You never knew what you would get from her.. but it was always good.. no I mean great!!! hahaha I can't pick out a fave in this collab.. because you are right.. they are all bringing their own thing to the plate.. and what a yummy sound .. errr sounds they are giving. Jennifer's soulful exclamations.. Mariah carrying so much of the glue that kept is cohesive.. and her snappy little verses were so fun.. Ariana's breathiness.. and then her and Mariah harmonizing in whistle notes!!!!! Are you kitten me?!?!!? lol I love this song.. so very much! Contrary to what some of the Christmas experts are saying.. I DO believe this will be a huge Christmas standard for the duration!!! If it's true.. that Mariah is the full creator of this song and collab.. I am in awe!!! Jess.. your technical break down is flawless as usual.. and your festive sweaters and set are making me smile. i didn't capture jhud looking lost at first but after you pointed that all out you really made such a GOOD point!! they really should have editing that better or did a reshoot. she was so disconnected and awkward in that section, but you're right that it could have very well been the director's/producer's/whomever's fault. love for them all and love you and this video!

I don't feel like she fit well with them in this song. Ariana and Mariah have a completely different style and tone... to me it just sounded random when JHud came in. Good song. There are two young artists that you must check out. First is Amira Willighagen who won Holland's Got Talent in 2014 at the age of 9. Start with her audition for Holland's Got Talent for English speakers, unless you speak Hollandic. Be sure to include what the judges say before and after she sings "O Mio Babbino Caro". Then watch her sing "O Mio Babbino Caro" again two years later, and see how much she improved. Also check out Darci Lynne sing "O Mio Babbino Caro' for America's Got Talent Champions finals, it will change your mind about how to sing opera.

I see what you mean, it looked more like she'd forgot 1 or 2 words on the beat but she got back on track. I watched the lips in order to notice but this would be good for a more pop radio than adult contemporary station (because of the beat). When Mariah does her whistles, I was wondering how Morissette would have done it. Very good job on breaking it down, thanks and Merry Christmas
