Thanks to Mike for sponsoring and to Maggie for posting :) I've always loved this movie ever since i 1st saw it in the theater. Tim Burton must be a huge fan of operas and classic musicals because a lot of his movies are like that. Getting Danny Elfman to play jack Skellington was a real coup... PERFECT CHOICE.
Something I saw someone say once, and that I agreed with, was that they appreciated how macabre the characters looked in this movie. There was no "Oh but those poor little babies will be too scared". This movie trusted in the maturity of kids and the power of growth
it shows how close and brilliant Voiceplay's take on this. You can't be scared my queen-with your martial arts and the eyebrow army behind you...happy Halloween my queen-was trying to get you a box before Halloween but have to be after...
I just watched this and have to admire Voiceplay for their version, since the original had more than 5 voices and VP (Layne and Eli) knew how to compress it, while staying within character
Nice reaction Maggie, I enjoyed the way these characters were all actual individuals. Never a dull moment, there was plenty of harmony, and character. Pumpkins can get such frightening faces this time of year.
It was the favourite movie of my toddler he was less than one years old baby he cried if he didn’t watch it ten times a day. It was like that until he went to primary school.
Danny Elfman is the composer of the music (as he is with most Tim Burton directed films). He is a musical genius. He is also the singing voice of Jack Skellington and many of the other characters. You might know Danny from his 80s-90s band Oingo Boingo. Check out some of their songs as a suggestion. Dead Mans Party is a favorite this time of year. :)
Danny Elfman is such an amazing composer and singer. Please give his band Oingo Boingo a listen, the two most well known songs being Weird Science and Dead Man's Party.
Now - do a reaction to Geoff's version of Jack's Lament. It will break your heart for Jack, the Pumpkin King. VoicePlay has also introduced their Halloween song - Hellfire from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Both are outstanding!
