Just to quote from a Roman Empire documentary about the period after the death of Alexander Severus:"I've probably sounded like a broken record until now. Things got worse, and got worse, and got worse and things got a little better under Diocletian and Constantine but now things will get really bad." But compared to that the Germans didn't had a slight moment were things seemed to get better.
"The Tiger IS on fire" "CHIZA!!! THAT PANTHER LITERALLY LOST THE HEAD" -The average german soldier in the battle of Kursk (and during all the war since 1943)
My grandfather, living in Norway at the time, told me he knew the Germans were losing because the troops stopping through Norway before going through Sweden were getting younger and younger as the war went along.
Operation Red Beard: when you think you're about to win the war. Fall Blau: Okay, one last push guys and this is it, we have this. Operation Zitadelle: Final Victory this time! I swear our new equipment will make the difference. Operation Bagration: Wait, this isn't us attacking? Where did army group centre go?
I can't overstate how rare it is for a content creator to take the time to add in accompanying visuals n a podcast style conversation video of this length, I really appreciate the effort, it made the video even more fun to watch.
I love the idea of wrap-up episodes on a video series because you can include the extra information that didn't make the final cut. so now we still get the information. I also like the idea of including outside information to your arguments to reinforce your points and to add on the pile of information.
@cresta2000ESP then copy paste the Cyrillic letters that you can’t type from Wikipedia or just copy paste the word from Angel Alberto Santana Cortorreal’s comment
"The Panzer II is on fire" I would like to add that I only read the description when I want more information or as you said, if I want to know the song or related videos. Also, I don't know if I am the only one, but I tend to read a lot more descriptions when I am on the phone, rather than the PC. Great video as always!
kpanga yeah I do it on my phone because I end up opening the description to hide the video recommendations because I have a tendency to accidentally touch them
Part 4? This was a complete shock to me as I took off my overall, sat down and had some lunch after working all day. YES. You should do this more. These discussions are easily one of the best things on this channel
I love the way this podcast advertises you in such an earnest way. I can’t imagine what it feels like to be put on the same pedestal as the other historians mentioned, what wonderful recognition.
I really enjoyed this. I'd love to see one of these for the Pacific series, and maybe even the Monte Cassino series when we get the final episode in a decade.
Tank commander willhelm: Hans what model panzer is the Hans: I believe it’s a type ll Tank commander willhelm: ok and why is it on fire Hans: I don’t know(puts incendiary grenade back in pocket)
Yes, you have some very good historical footage. I've been watching things like this for many years and you still manage to show film I hadnt seen before. That is what drew me to your channel and its why I subscribed. Keep up the fine work.
Great video, I enjoyed to way it went more in depth into the Nazi idiology and the reasons beside the way the Soviets fight. Now I did know they held troops back, but it was cool to see Stalins actual reasons why. It was also great for a bus ride. Only one problem, RU-vid itself, seriously got 6 Mike Bloomburg unskipable ads for all available ad spots. So that was an annoying interruption to the great video.
@@dennisweidner288 That's true, it's sad how many good officers died just because Stalin was so paranoid, while the soviet army was a huge mess,it was a mess that was going through modernization, they had a lot of things,a lot of programs and when the axis invaded many interesting projects were cancelled (like the navy build up) Still I do think that even if the competent officers like Tukhachevsky or Blyucher were still around, if the red army was still in that state it wouldn't perform very well but with some time to properly train their troops and modernize(since it would take time to learn what work or not), the eastern front would be different indeed.
@@yosawin3018 I tend to agree with you. The Germans were very good at war. I think, however, that without the purges that the Red Army would have performed better. And perhaps they would not have ignored all the many warnings that Stalin ignored,
Tbh I appreciate the humour of your channel almost on par with the history. Ultimately it’s the nuanced and comedic view of historical events im already familiar with that made me subscribe, not necessarily the serious stuff.
As I`m watching this I realise how much having the historical video in the background helps with the atmosphere. Grand ol decision, I hope we will see more of it in the future too!.
Bro all I care about is history in like any format. You are good bro do whatever you wanna do on this channel I will watch it all I wanna do is listen to people talk history. I can't thank you enough for making the channel tho because I love having someone our age talk about this stuff
I enjoy your videos alot and i like how you never really put down a theory you disagree with unless its absolutley ridiculous. You explain why you disagree and leave it at that
The more casual feeling of this video is good. I think the memes are definitely more entertaining but i dont have a problem with Reflection videos. gg bro and of course The Panzer II is on fire.
Man that crescendo from shostakovich's 7th first movement stills gets me every time i listen to it. Great video and amazing soundtrack choice, quite befitting !
I really like the idea of these kind of wrap up videos. Also some videos with extra information that couldn't be put in the main series videos for whatever reason. Thank You for the video and have a great day!
In terms of simplifying and summarizing large subjects of world war 2, i think you are doing very well, this video is a another one of those where:" you learn a little more each time."
I love your takes on ww2 history, and your awesome sense of humor, but I very much enjoyed the depth that you went into. As I've gotten older I've grown more into the longer more technical videos about ww2 tactics, doctrine, etc and would love to see more videos similar to this in the future
I enjoyed the video, I also really enjoyed When you had the debate a while back. I think you should do another debate, it helps to solidify your stances on debated topics making you look more professional when it comes to facts.
I will always like your “regular” stuff or stuff that you’re already good at, but also have massive respect that you haven’t stagnated by getting confortable. Instead you still change the formula up a bit and take risks and experiment.
