Every minute there was uplifting! I felt very useful and the time flew by. Everyone was cheerful and kept zipping along with the shoeboxes. Just before we left they announced the final shoebox count would probably go over 20,000 for the day!!! In just one day!!! All glory to God!!!
Oh, I'm so bummed!!!! I was supposed to work at this processing center tomorrow and Friday but they called me and canceled my reservation because they were going to finish early! Christy, honestly, my little fantasy of working in a center was to maybe, with a bit of luck, be there the same time you were to meet you. I was so close to a dream I'd never expected to happen. I would have been so delighted. Well, I just wanna let you know how inspiring and educational your videos are to me. You have taught me so much about packing boxes and how to, not just donate extra supplies, but create great fillers all put together like pencil pouches. I am passionate about that, and had made a whole bunch to bring with me, plus some other fillers, but they told me I couldn't come this time. Maybe one day I will bump into you...I hope so! I'd love to chat with you and thank you in person for the work you are doing and for your amazing videos that have taught me so much. 💜
What fun that would have been to meet you! I’m going to the Charlotte processing center in February to help build the online boxes. Maybe you can go there. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m thrilled to hear about all you are doing with the shoeboxes and fillers! It’s exactly what we are called to do in scripture-the older teach the younger. We are blessing others and honoring God. May God bless you as you make more shoeboxes and fillers for 2021. Should the Lord tarry, we have ongoing opportunities to spread the Gospel for the glory of God through OCC!
@@christym.814 I would love to go to the Charlotte processing center, especially since I was canceled this time! I don't know for sure if I could go at the moment, but maybe we could coordinate to be there together somehow? I'd be coming alone, pretty far from home (I live in Ohio) so it would be nice to be there with someone I was at least familiar with! I'd really love to do that if you're ok with it and it works out. Or maybe even next year if this year doesn't. Yes, OCC excites me to be doing The Lord's work and knowing how big of an impact this will make in the lives of so many people and that through this program the kingdom of God grows. This has really strengthened my own faith as well! I always question items such as "I'd like to put a hammer and nails in this box...but what if it goes to a young boy in a European orphanage that really has no use for them?" But now I put in what I feel lead to include and squash all my doubts and questions with "God is leading me to include this and He will make sure that this box goes to the right child."
Love seeing the OCC PC videos! Do you know why that Boy 5-9 go box had an “X” on the tracking box? I hope nobody ever does that to my boxes! I was so excited to find that, this year, some of my 56 boxes ended up in Ghana & Peru! Previous years to Mexico. 🥰🎁🎄🎁 It is so exciting to find out where they go!
We were told the church that made the boxes didn’t want tracking, so they put the X on before they turned them in. No one at the processing center would cancel a label. How exciting to find out where your boxes are headed!
Really enjoy seeing inside these busy centers! If your example box is any indication, the boxes are being filled better than last year. How is the filler? Plentiful I hope! Thank you for sharing!
We did have some nice fillers. Plush, necklaces, little dinosaur figures, cars-both matchbox and homemade toddler wood cars-and some paper pads I was happy to pack. ❤️ I think they were fuller than last year. But I didn’t see many plush at all while I worked-maybe 5% of boxes had a soft plush. I was really surprised. But I saw more paper and crayons than I saw previously. Not many school supplies. That was weird. There were some boxes with lose pencils and sharpeners, I only saw 1 pair of scissors and only a few pens. Overall, there was a lack of school supplies. But I’m only one person among many.
@@christym.814 I am sad to read about the plush. :-( Were you able to use up the Beanie Baby lot you showed us in the spring? Loved those bigger ones- had never seen that size before. I'm going to be on the hunt for more plush after Christmas. Post-holiday sales are a great way to get lots. I'm determined to get to a processing center next season, too. There isn't one close to us (W.TN), but I would consider flying or even driving to ATL maybe. Do you know the age requirement for certain?...I would like to take my daughter. She will be 12. I prefer the plastic because they are a special gift that will last. But I still love and use the cardboard because they are still sturdy and they are much less expensive. What about you?
