What is the title of the book? The story is so moving; I would love to read anything that’s inspired by it 🤗

@@girumzemichael704 The Way Back to Dan Ethiopia. Ethioopiahhhh? Stout, stagnant, amidst the raging Nile waters. I sweat and keep walking parallel to your bold and dark skies, not yet stale, not even pregnant with rain. I labour with twelve year olds just starting their periods, thighs suddenly drenched, sticky and stinky, miles from mother’s rags. Two dreary weeks ago, I and the bloated- tummied children left home in search of Jehovah, for we’d heard that he came back to our lost home, back where kings’ stables and language schools created beauty queens, and where Solomon chose to eat regional princesses, Baal and doom. Erect for thirty-three thousand moons, we strove, then like warm ash, eyes down like a self-righteous recluse, stored the need to get our ID back, not as Falash Mura but fully-fledged Danites, skinny and alone in Ethiopia until the lighter coloured men fell from the sky promising dew on drought. We first kissed their large feet, then tried to kiss their cheeks but they shook brown curls, smiling like little girls, resistance in their foliage-coloured eyes. After the signed, interpreted contract, fathers nodded and kissed us goodbye, our mothers said nothing, tear drops pooling in the cups of their starving faces. They handed screaming six year olds to the village teens; blessing, re-hugging, promising to join us soon in Jehovah’s backyard where the stones sing glory, the blood of red heifers trickle through cracks on the pink roasting rock and where sheep, we had been told, bleat their last on Moshe’s Writings. These laws we kept since infancy, a perpetual light burning as elders bowed, wives baked unleavened bread, sons built tents and girls kissed grooms to extend the kingdom once lost but envisioned as an old-new house. When the men in army boots fell from the sky and led us bare feet by the black steep slopes of Gondar, yellow hyena eyes mocked our trust, thirst and sleep and laughed at our homelessness. A nation, neither Jew nor African, but we crossed the Sudan border intoxicated with shades of F.Y. Aklum’s voice, bribed with M&M’s to fall into the belly of an eagle with a C-130 Hercules engine, and the many years gap between seeing our parents and siblings again. Or not.
