Hope they are good as have tickets to see Opeth in Washington DC in Oct. at The Warner Theater Gonna be a killer night as this is one of DCs last of the 70s venues & one great place for concerts. Have to give these guys listen & if Mike likes them enough to take them on tour here, they must be worthy.
The new single has the last 1 min cut out because its a concept album and it transitions into the next song, so it would sound better when the album is released
Walitteri is a hell of a drummer! I can't say a lot about Axe cause it was my first concert at Dortmund but my jaw dropped! Amazing power. I loved it! ❤
as far as I heard on first single from their new album is... yeah, Walitteri is good, technically but it doesn't have the soul that Axe had in it's drumming, not even close. It's like when Portnoy from Dream Theatre replaced by Mike Mangini. Sorry but, besides his jazzy prog feel, Axe knew how to tell a story not just being right on spot.
aaand, live, Walitteri is way too far from what Axe was doing from what I've seen. I love Opeth, truly and forever, but replacing Axe will be an open wound for me.
@@cristilucaciu9566 oh I am sorry to not bring more to the table when it comes to Opeth cause I am very new to their music and I don't play any instrument nor do I know how discuss music. I just enjoy the drum sounds and the beats. I am a simple listener. Didn't even know they changed their drummer. 😅🤷🏼♀️ but I must believe you that Axe was better somehow. But I know that Walitteri is still young. I think he will even grow and can come close.❤
I remember an edited version of Black Rose Immortal on some VA album. That was so bad. Just the acoustic part and "lullaby of the crescent moon..." part. Damn, do not cut these masterpieces.
The interviewer doesn't know anything about Mikael and his current status or the current state of Opeth for that matter. Maybe do some research and drink less beer before interviewing anyone. I feel like Mikael knows and feels it too. Which is why he's keeping his answers to one word/one liner only.
Hard disagree. Axe always felt so stiff, especially compared to Lopez. Even ony second or third listen of the new track I felt like the drums felt more natural
Is Fredrik's mic even on? Edit: ah almost 3 minutes in and he just cuts in. That's exactly what you need to do, otherwise you'll have Mike doing stand-up for the remainder of the interview.
