Akerfeldt as a songwriter is next level. People often complain that there aren't songwriters like the classic ones, but we have Akerfeldt here and now. Been a fan since their second record and they've astounded me everytime. Songwriting for all time. So lush.

Love how you don't stop the song every 15 seconds or talk over the music constantly like other reaction videos. Subscribed😊

I think the song commands your attention. Like most Opeth songs, it's not objective, but totally subjective. Leaves you no choice but to react and let it take its course.

Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate these videos. There's nothing like the feeling of sharing something you love and I look forward to every opeth reaction.. and others, but especially opeth haha. Thanks brother!

@@sonicallydisruptive There's no shame in that at all. I'm 35 and found Opeth roughly 14 years ago, but thanks to Mikael I've started listening to Camel from the 70s, and others. Always a joy to unearth gems.

Nice to meet you SD - that was actually special . I'm 56, and Opeth is right under Devin Townsend as my favorite progressive artists. Both of their voices have aged like fine wine. I'm glad I found your channel today. I'll look and see how to make a request Thanks

The guitar solo is phenomenal. Also, I recommend doing a reaction to some of Opeth’s live performances, if that’s your thing.

I totally agree about the solo thing! It reminds me of the comfortably numb's one
@villevirmala667

Some traditional scandinavian melody lines added with Pink Floyd vibes. David Gilmour must have been greatest influence for that guitar solo. It has similar use of chord tones as the first guitar solo in Comfortably Numb. Great reaction videos!

Another great video! You should react to Opeth-Moon Above, Sun Below. If you are liking new Opeth but want some old style riffage mixed in you should definitely react to that one.

I feel you. NIN was my favorite band for like 20 years.... until I heard Opeth. Hooked since. And I came in around Damnation. People get down on their newer prog style, but every single album, in my opinion, since heritage has been getting better and better. I recommend you do reactions on Face in the Snow, Harvest, Faith in Others, Reverie Harlequin Forest, Hope Leaves, and To Bid You Farewell.. Those are my favorites of the band of all time, including this one Lovelorn Crime

I feel that this song is the goal that Opeth was trying to reach with their forays into lighter, more 70-s prog inspired stuff
@sonicallydisruptive
@sonicallydisruptive 4 года назад
I think they went beyond that on this track, into something more. Sounds like the previous 2 records had a very 70's prog feel. I can hear that here as well, but I felt they were going into some new territory on his. Thanks for the comment.
@ferox965

@@sonicallydisruptive Absolutely. But I don't consider this lighter. It's just as deep as their heavier material, just in a different way.
