+barfyman362 i remember reading an interview with mikael about writing the new album a while back and I'm pretty sure he said something about a drop A tuning on the album
My brother Paul and I popped in there in 2014 after hiking the River Monnow from source. Kingsley thought we were Rockfield pilgrims first then realized we were hikers who loved music. He gave us a tour and we had a far out chat. Fabulous memory. Here's part of that hike. Rockfield is about 2/3rd the way through ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cDnaELKbv9M.html Peace!
Opeth! I've been a fan for way over 10 years now. You guys produce some of the best music Ive ever heard. Thank you so much for your wonderful work. Your music is a fantastic addition to my life! \m/

Man I fucking love this band. They're down to earth dudes who love their craft. Usually other bands would sell this kind of footage as bonus on a DVD or something. They even posted their entire albums here. They're in it for the music and that earns my respect. Good shit Mikael and the boys, keep up making solid stuff.
Isaac Koop yes, you’re right. I always thought it was Farewell to Kings, but it was Hemispheres. I remember the shot from the documentary now you mention it.
I love that they're using KRK Rokits and Yamaha NS-10s for near-field monitoring. despite being such a famous studio. Makes me feel a little better about my shitty home studio setup :)
This album is gonna rock. I know we're not getting any death metal anymore, but after hearing Cusp of Eternity, I became convinced that this band has to do an entire record's worth of material that's riff heavy like that. This album might be that. And I know Queen recorded there, but I think of Rush - they recorded AFTK and Hemispheres there. Maybe some of that magic will creep its way in.
Crazy how different this is when compared to the making of deliverance! Happy to see Mikael is in his element and no longer dealing with shitty equipment / setup!
I sincerely hope the new album is in the same vein as heritage and pale communion!!! been a fan since Blackwater Park but I love the 60's psychedelic rock/progressive metal mix!!! it's perfect to me!!
The 11th track called Persephone got me confused with the prog death band Persefone, if you guys don't know them, check out their album Spiritual Migration
Always thought Mikael was going to keep that D tuning thing going and not deviate from it. Sounds like they tuned a bit lower finally. Also sounds like it would go well with some growls, but we know that's not going to happen.
Love me some instrumental Hard Rock... Think "Goblin" from the previous record, or of course "Orion" from a little band they called Metallicunts I think...
Wow, the ending shows that the production of this album will be far different than on the last two; more like Ghost Reveries. Guitars are so close in mix^^
