There are several great bands that can creatively do whatever the hell they want and it works in different ways and is awesome for musically different reasons. Opeth is one. Drawing from 70's prog is fine with me-adore early Yes, Genesis, and King Crimson (maybe ALL of their eras). Mastodon is another. They just don't care about the music industry, but the music (Hunter is great too) is. Oh, and thank God Porcupine Tree is finally getting recognition.
Fredrik always reminds me of Viv Savage from Spinal Tap. Both in physical appearance and that "space cadet" type of demeanor. Fredrik seems like he's just bored/killing time until he gets to be on stage performing again.
I love Opeth but I haven't been able to get the proper gist of this album. Am I overlooking a masterpiece? Or is the album not that good? Or better yet, my listening capabilities has gone to the crapper
