1st of all: theyre literally not. They could be much worse. 2nd of all: this is an independent film with a smaller budget and I happen to know that they had to rush a lot of production in order to film in their locations. (If I remember correctly) it’s amazing what they pulled off given the circumstances.

IDK about the movie, but the plot in the book it's based on is the same basic plot as the play, we just see more of the stuff that was happening in the background. The ending is different but still makes total sense given what happens in the play (I mean, Hamlet and Ophelia don't reign nobly as king and queen, justice having been served).
