My sister's husband detoxed in my parent's home. I watched him for three days. It was awful. Afterwards, I asked what that felt like. He said "Imagine the worst flu you ever had, and multiply by 100"! He died later from an overdose. RIP Skeet.

It sounds like they put up a fight, so I admire him and those who helped him in some capacity. It’s heartbreaking, but we have to remember their brains were hijacked so always come from a place of compassion and forgiveness. He’s not simply a statistic, and I hope he will be remembered for who he really was without the addiction.

*Ensure. I feel like people look at me differently if they know the medicines I take. It’s demeaning to go in and pee in a cup every month, and bring in your medications to be counted every month. People that aren’t addicts are treated as such, and it’s not fair. Opiates aren’t the only solution for my disease, that will continue to progress, but they are a tool that helps with my quality of life. I just wanted to pipe up, as there are valid reasons for pain management, and due to addiction, we are punished. I’m sorry for my rant, I just want you to see it through a different perspective.

Just to let anyone that has a loved one addicted to anything that they have to want to quit. They have to want it deep in their soul, they have to realize they hate the drug. Its like being in an abusive relationship. After more than a decade of opiate and heroine use it took me to get to the point were i wanted to quit , really wanted it. bcuz if u do it for someone else or just to get ur shit back, sure it might work in the beginning but chances for relapse are greater. Not to say if you want it you wont ever relapse but this is a thinking disease and our mind can be a dark place best to start on a for firm foundation.

Please, please validate the difference between dependency and addiction. As a person on low dose opioids for over twenty years for chronic pain, I know full well my body is dependent on this medication.I take them just as they are prescribed, and they give me a quality of life I deserve. I get no high, I get pain relief. I resent being lumped in with street drug users, I am no junkie, I do not sell them for profit. But the opioid crisis 'experts' do not differentiate between someone like me and the person sticking a needle in their arm to get out of it. The stigma is enormous. The opioid crisis is a construct and needs to be researched so much better. Btw, fentanyl, 100 times stronger than morphine did absolutely nothing for me after a total knee replacement.Suicidal with pain, I had to fight doctor after doctor to get what did work for me...ketamine.Everybody is different, and chronic pain patients are NOT junkies.And don't always turn into junkies..its simply not always the case.

Ex user here. This guy is pretty on point. Two things: When he asked if you can smoke perfect. The answer is actually yes, except, not percocet specifically. Any of the pills that come with acetaminophen you can't smoke. HOWEVER, pills like Roxicodone or MS Contin which are pure oxycodone or morphine you CAN smoke. In keeping with the theme of the video, signs of this will include: pieces of foil with lined burnt onto it, and black soot on their fingers or face from scratching their face. Also, a wash is more commonly done by taking old cottons that have already been used to filter heroin shots, throwing them all together in a spoon, adding water, and then shooting that to get any residual drugs left on the spoon or in old filtering cottons.

Please do a similar video about benzodiazapene addiction. These are as dangerous, if not more dangerous than opiates, yet nobody talks about them and the havoc they've wreaked on families throughout the world. The media is too hooked on the opioid crisis.
@zackwalker664
@zackwalker664 2 года назад
They are, but they’re more dangerous when you stop them instead of when you’re using them. I had an old friend who had a grand mal seizure and ended up hospitalized because he decided to stop taking his prescription. Super shady to prescribe something that can literally kill you if you decide not to take it anymore.
@steverickenbacher7110
@steverickenbacher7110 2 года назад
@@zackwalker664 Are you aware of how ridiculous that sounds? This is just not true. They can slow your heart and respiration rates to enough of a crawl to kill you. What is more dangerous? A seizure, or death? Remember - the longer you take something, the more of it you need to achieve the initial effect. So, no, benzos should NOT be prescribed or taken indefinitely. It sounds like your friend was most definitely addicted.
@ayjayetee2552
@ayjayetee2552 2 года назад
Benzodiazepines are central nervous system depressants. This means that they can suppress breathing and lower heart rate is taken in excess to get high and/or mixed with other substances. If someone mixes benzos with another CNS depressant (alcohol, opiates or opioids, etc.), the level of CNS depressant in the body increases making them more susceptible to overdose or death. If someone is prescribed benzos to take daily and they just stop, they face a higher likelihood of death (or other health considerations...seizures, etc.) if taken in high doses and/or mixed with other substances. The best way to detox off of them is 1) under medical supervision/detox protocol and 2) slow taper under medical supervision. Benzo detox timelines vary from person to person depending on a few factors to include (but not limited to) amount taken, how long the have been using them, if mixed with other substances, other mental and/or physical issues. Best idea is to utilize psychotherapy, CBT, possible exposure therapy if the client can handle it and any other form of medication that is not addictive but can assist with anxiety. Regardless, where there is a will there is a way unfortunately.

WHERE IT COULD END. I am a recovering burn Survivor. My left SI joint suffered 5 degree burns leaving bone against bone. So unfortunately I take pain medication. Have done them for the last 27 year's. I had to come to the point where the pain medication was just a tool used to help me control my pain when I move. I was sick once because I felt bad for my neighbor who hurt his back. I was so niave, I found that IF you follow your doctor's direction you never get sick, you may have a bad day physically BUT that is when you just stop whatever you doing and take care of yourself. Let the other people around you know that you taking a MEEEE DAY and they will be greatful. I have seen everything you have talked about and unless they want to address the person inside yourself you will never be clean. By the Grace of God I have been able to go from dozens of medication down to only 2 medications a day and I can have a life. What people don't talk about is ALCOHOL AND PAIN MEDICATIONS. I have lost several good friends because they were in DENIAL.

Using any drug to escape from a mental reality ultimately results in addiction. On the other hand, opiates used to mitigate physical pain conditions over long periods of time, can and likely will result in dependency. The bottom line, people with addictive personality traits, are absolutely attempting to escape their unresolved mental reality regardless of the drugs they're doing. Dependency and addiction are two very different things and that line gets blurred way too frequently. It isn't fair or even logical to demonize opiates, the people who've added life to their years and years to their life from pain medicine is too often pushed aside, while the true problem begins with individuals desperate attempt to escape their unresolved mental reality. Yes, opiate addiction is a tragic situation but it's adding insult to injury by leaving people to poison themselves with NSAIDS as their only realistic option for relief. It's like a robber with a hostage, you don't delete both just because the one person went haywire. Repair the root cause, not the catalyst. Know why you take or don't take something, ffs Pushing an agenda based on a third of the honest information is purely despicable manipulation. Please wake up, please...

I disagree with this statement (not entirely but enough to make me speak out). I was diagnosed with PTSS and Stockholm Syndrom due to my childhood and for the longest time used weed as an escape from reality...or maybe to put it more precisely; I used the weed to create a rare moment of peace where I could refocus my thoughts without being bothered by the bad memories that I experienced or was experiencing. It never led me to any sort of addictive behaviour though and I could quit very easily (given that I was down on my luck for some periods I had no problem not smoking though those were some tough times to face up to my demons) for long stretches and even after. However I was well aware of why I was smoking to begin with so if anything I used it medicinally and to this day I firmly believe that the combined use and therapy helped me to get better. Ironically I hated taking anti-depresants because even on the half of the smallest dose they made me feel like a zombie. Nowadays I hardly smoke at all (well cigarettes but not weed) and I don't nor have I ever missed it and if I do smoke it's for the same reasons as why people would drink, strictly recreational and because I like the taste. However I'm well aware that I'm an exception in that regard

I think you need to wake up and stop pushing this agenda of yours and trying to manipulate people into believing they won’t get hooked. I truly cannot stand the man in the red. All he does is look down on, degrade and judge people. Some people genuinely need certain medications for pain. In addition, not everyone will become addicted. Claiming that someone who needed Codeine after a car accident will end up with a needle in their arm, is just ridiculous. Of course it happens. But everyone overusing it has ruined it for people who have chronic pain and truly do need meds as needed.

I’m surprised this is an addiction doctor. He misspoke several times. Washing, may be what he suggested, but they usually take the cotton ball they’ve used multiple times, and try to pull out any of the heroin, or opiate medication they are injecting. He missed a huge point, with regards to Fentanyl. It’s 100 times stronger than Morphine. The majority of the overdoses are from the Fentanyl. As far as routes of ingestion, you can put the pills in your bum, and it’s a stronger high than just swallowing the pill. I can’t remember what the name is. I’m a ER RN, as well as a chronically ill patient with progressive MS, that takes opiates as a part of my treatment plan. I’m well versed from both sides of the coin. Gabapentin is a medicine used for nerve pain, it’s also used for seizures. It’s not a “white powder.”

As of the few years 9 out of 10 of the opiods manufacturers now put something in the opiods that enable them to be used with a syringe. That is another reason why herion is used. Not just because of the cost. Opiods such as oxicontin is a lot more expensive. But the oxi high last longer then herion.

I'd love to see you go through full blown opioid withdrawals for even 4 hours, I won't even add any of the benzos or booze in there because that's just cruel (unless you truly wanted the full experience of what I've been through) but let's be real, you ain't built for that son hahaha. Stick to your weed, nothing wrong with a few psychedelics here and there. Stay away from opioids and benzos, and drinking as well if you think your weed addiction is so bad. Dude us junkies make fun of coke and meth heads because they don't even withdrawal (sleeping and eating isn't withdrawal, quite the opposite)...so did you honestly expect to not get made fun of for talking about your "weed addiction" hahahahaha, go smoke a bowl and watch a funny movie kiddo.

I was on pain pills for over 10yrs. When they started getting onto doctors and pharmacy's for this opioid problem my doctor went ahead and retired instead of dealing with it. So i lost my prescription from him which was about 4 yrs. Of me taking and when script ran out i was out didn't go looking for something to replace started back on my ibuprofen of about 12 to 18- 200mg a day. Which will probably kill me because that's a lot but i have real pain from 6 knee surgery starting at age 15. Knee replacement and hip replacement but putting off replacing other knee until cant deal any more but i among other people are being punished for what people who have never been prescribed the pain meds. are abusing them and over dosing. Has there been a study on the ones that over dosed how many actually had a prescription and how many did not ? I think they would end up same place if thet can not control there addiction. But now people are suffering because of there bad choices. Even the Vets had there pain meds took. How is that even close to being right. They suffered enough don't you think. That's my story on opioids. I will bet any amount they want take ibuprofen off shelf when over use kills people in pain. Want be mentioned

Wow! If I were you, I would seriously reconsider blaming your inability to get more opiates on "lowlifes" who have become addicted to drugs bought off of the black market. First of all, the narrative behind addiction has changed. Addicts come from all walks of life. Good people and bad people alike suffer from addiction. It is not just the 70s view of dirty addicts sitting in an alley with a needle sticking out of their arms anymore. Secondly, nobody has control over whether or not they become addicted to anything. Addiction is a disease, not a life choice. Plenty of upstanding citizens who were prescribed opiates became addicted to them, and I've seen many like you who express a sense of entitlement regarding having been "cut off". Apparently, you were one of the lucky ones. Lastly, the entire Sackler family deserves to spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

"can't control their addiction"... that reads incredibly judgemental. Maybe that wasn't your intention but until we stop looking down our noses at addiction and begin to see it as a serious mental and medical issue it will only get worse. Anytime a group is marginalized and demonized who are they left to bond with...? Others that have been similarly marginalized. Other addicts. By looking at these people as "less than" you, you are contributing to the epidemic. I'm sure that's not your intention, but only by chance are you not hopelessly addicted too. If the neurochemical mix in your brain was a bit different, you would be the one 6 feet under or on the street. Until the stigma is removed and people are educated about addiction and mental disorders we are doomed to repeat this cycle of (sometimes generational) addiction

My neighbors use drugs and I don't know what it is, which freaks me out. The smell comes into my kitchen. From what others have said, the sickly skunk odor is today's marijuana. But I know intuitively there's something mixed with it, and that they're mixing/cooking something in their place and helping someone deal. Nobody will do anything about this ( where I live) and it sucks. What would drug dealers roll into a joint and sell that is really smelly, anyone have any ideas? Skunky, eggy, somewhat sweet ...not a good smell at all. Then I smell like some kind of household cleaner when they are done doing whatever they are doing.

What about tramadol, you take 5-8 of those along with xanax and it will give you a instant rush of euphoria along with the nod like heroin. I'm on 8 tramadol 50mg with 5 xanax and Im just fighting my sleep nodding in and out feeling good. People seem to overlook tramadol but it is a opioid even though it's weak but you can still get high off it when taking large amounts with xanax.

I'm not even joking when I tell you things like kratom and suboxone would get you higher than tramadol, you don't have to dabble with real opioids and you shouldn't but tramadol....for fucks sake dude. Many people smoke these things and have very little 💔 physical signs. Their school, job, businesses, and relationships suffer. People make excuses to parents, collegues and friends. If they have children they make excuses to child protection services. Drug tests are failing because people dilute their bodies with detox and excessive water drinking. People are in denial when they see signs. Some are not in denial, however and try hard to get probation officers , doctors, child protection services, court officers, to help you with drug tests. Most do only urine test and most people pass . It's disgusting how someone can have all the proof of a loved one selling and doing drugs and people are more worried about violating a person's rights than helping them get something done to help their loved ones. Would you believe even with video and the actual drug found and behavior videoed most people still never got stopped. My kid thinks Ecstasy is ok. With everything being laced it's a constant state of anxiety for parents dealing with the craziness of watching their child go through the losing of jobs and losing friends and losing hope and health it's horrific. It's exhausting. Jails and courts and probation officers and parents need to be working together and praying 🙏 Thanks for the video ❣️

What I fail to understand is that if these doctors are right on the use of opioids in acute care specifically, then why is so easy to get a prescription of Oxycodone in the US? Europe? In some states, morphine is given out in pills like candy. And if used in hospice care specifically you'll be given morphine sulfate, endone, dilaudid or legal diamorph 'heroin' (which does exist although this is primarily for labor.) The laws need to change, considering an addict might search for heroin or a pill to feel normal but would end up in jail for possession of morphine? Harm reduction, less penalties, more sobriety.

I normally appreciate this channel and the information provided however your first minute was incredibly insensitive and offensive not to mention the fact that people have actual conditions/illnesses/injuries that are suffering in this country because others have abused a system by either over prescribing without proper care or observation or abused the old systems that didn’t track the amount people filled and were prescribed. People abuse every system out there from disability and government assistance to coupon programs. We shouldn’t punish all for the choices of the few. Very disappointed as a person with chronic illness and the inability to take NSAIDS who has been basically given PTSD by the healthcare system in the US when I have never once in my entire medical history abused medications prescribed to me in any way.
