No he didn't "Run Out"... He was killed off of the show because he was sick of playing a character in a show where a room full of white people wrote all of the lines and dialogue. They basically wrote Good Times how they THOUGHT every black person spoke, acted, and behaved. John Amos was actually fired because Norman Lear could not fathom the idea of him not agreeing with some of the lines that were written for him. And soon after Mr. Amos left, Esther Rolle exited too... For the same reasons. But she did agree to come back in the show's final season. So I hope this educated you and every other individual who thought your little sarcastic remark was funny 😉
I don't get why Anthony's pretending to be mad at how Good Times portrayed black people. For the most part it was an honest portrayal of black life in the projects during that time period and just added humor to it.
Like Amos and Andy on 1950s television 📺? 🤔 Julia (1968 - 1970) was more realistic with no stereotypes 📺. Dianne Carroll was brown sugar on prime time.
Funny too he was semi-praising the Cosby Show. Meanwhile I’ve heard plenty of African Americans say that show was goofy. One RU-vidr called Primm’s Hood Cinema talked about the Huxtable family, says something like “I’d rather stay in the hood then spend time with these cornballs.”
It's the difference between what is and the Cosby Show's what could be. The hope and the dream is better to watch. Even with having German heritage i could tell that difference between the two shows when I was a kid.
A lot of shows morph into what the producers think the audience likes. Saved by the Bell started off being a show that was more about the lady who was teaching the class. The name of the show was Good Morning Mrs. Bliss. Family Matters was supposed to be a family show but morphed into The Steve Urkel show. Urkel wasn't supposed to be a main character. Both John Amos and Esther Rolle didnt like some of the portrayals on the show. I still liked the show though up until James died. He was the best character on the show.
Nothing against Opie and Anthony but they are white. So quite naturally they would think Good Times was awful. Just like black people thought All In The Family was awful. I watched a few episodes and it stunk to me 🤷 It's a cultural thing more than a racial thing.
DINO-MITE!!!!!! 🤪 Speaking of n***a rich, how about a cheap repair job with plenty of steel wire - n***a rigging. Gerry rigging is the more proper term.
