Every self-proclaimed psychic/medium deserves this public utter humiliation. Especially the psychics/mediums who take advantage of grieving people by claiming they can talk to their dead loved ones.
A psychic helped me find and marry my first wife, but she couldn't tell me where she was buried a year later, so I'm calling bullshit. This psychic also said it would be a happy marriage.
James Randi was also Alice Cooper's magician who devised all the tricks _and_ also played the 'Executioner' in Alice Cooper's act, which is an added layer of awesomeness.
Randi was the truth and a real life badass. He led a tremendously fascinating life and even embarrassed the scientific community by hoaxing his own fake psychic and fooling a lot of credible people to make a point when ESP and the like was a popular thing. His point was to illustrate that even the best scientists can be fooled by magic tricks. The man never graduated high school but he was a genuine genius.
Exactly lol I'm not defending them because they are absolute frauds and ethically redundant. But the reason they are fuming and upset is due to the fact James randi has exposed them and in doing so their livelihood has been utterly destroyed and can no longer take strangers money due to them not believing him anymore. And rightly so I'm glad these fools get exposed
James Randi is a legend who has spent decades and decades debunking and exposing these embarrassing frauds with absolutely no mercy. It'd be worth it for anyone to see the documentary "An Honest Liar" about his awesome life and accomplishments. Really great stuff.
I love it when these self-styled 'spiritual' enlightened types resort to suing people. Kinda doesn't fit with the image they're trying to create for themselves, does it?
Carson was also someone who hated these creeps which is why he both hosted the Gellar appearance with Randi's consultation to prevent any bullshit and exposed Peter Popoff's faith healing ministry with earphone recordings to prove he was being fed information by his wife after Randi and his people basically intercepted and recorded the feed.
In 1989, Hydrick was sentenced to 17 years for molesting five boys in Huntington Beach, California.[13] After serving his sentence, he was remanded to Atascadero State Hospital for treatment under the state's sexually violent predator law. He now resides at the Coalinga State Hospital.[5][14] Hydrick petitioned for release in May 2013, but a trial resulted in a hung jury.[5]
Why should the phone book have to already be open? He should be able to open it right? The people who believed this guy was real should’ve been sterilized.
Yeaaah psychics always have really specific powers huh. "I can flip a couple pages, but I can't open the book and I can't open the pages if there's bits of paper on the pages"
The perpetually dim and chronicly simple will always be grateful for the few moments of truth and enlightenment that the Charlatans provide them Plainly what WE can see as trickery, they see as supernatural powers. What we know as "cold reading", they take as psychic abilities and absolute truth. It matters not how many times these fraudsters are called out, there will always be a contingent of poor fool who is desperate to talk to a dead child or parent and beg to he told that communication was made. It may provide some form of closure, but is that really the case when they are being lied to?
I swear to God, everything I've been interested in growing up has been a discussion on O&A, we have the same exact interests and the same twisted humor, I love it!
I think it would be hysterical if James Randi pranked the guy and made the page move somehow just so the "psychic" actually believed for a second that he really had powers
2:10 You guys hear that? It sounds kinda like a steamroller. But no one in studio even acknowledged it, so maybe it was my imagination and Jim got cut off because of something else.
I never understood why this guy didn't just leave after Barker said that were going to have someone try to catch him in a lie. Why would he wait there through a commercial for this guy to come out and humiliate him? Just made no sense at all.
I like how everyone is all over this guy about his hair (as they should be) but if this were a clip of an NBA game, no one would say a single word about the HILARITY on those guys' heads.
"$10,000 in 1981 would be like $100,000 now!" Oof, the boys are always so bad when it comes to math and numbers. (except Opie, who was a math genius in school (who forgot "what comes next" after Algebra))
Who also couldn't tell the difference between $0.002 and $0.00002 :) I know what they _mean_ by the $100,000 thing, even if they're not accurate - $10,000 was worth a lot more in the 80's than it is today.
If only they knew to show Uri Geller's epic fail on Johnny Carson in 1973, when James Randi was asked by The Tonight Show to advise them on what controls to use to prevent fraud.
There's actually a pretty sad story around this James Hydrick guy. He grew up with an abusive father who was 30 when he impregnated his then 15 year old mother, apparently he witnessed one of his brothers being beaten to death so he learned himself Karate at the age of 6 to defend himself from his father. later in life he did a buncha bad shit himself from kidnapping to child abuse and apparently had some pretty amazing escape's during his incarceration. (kicked through a concrete wall) This dude sure is a weird character.
Kinda like Polanski. Sure he did some bad shit, but he also survived the holocaust homeless and alone (also his mother was murdered at Auschwitz), and his wife was brutally murdered by the Manson family. You wonder if he would've been such a bad guy if he didn't have such a difficult life. Either way, does not excuse what he has done.
Im only a minute in but wanna share. This guy had an alleged telekinetic on his show who was known for turning pages in a book with his mind. When they presented him a challenge they showed him an open book with powder lining the pages and all he had to do for 1 mill was turn the page telekinetically and he refused to do so because in reality he was blowing the pages to make them turn and the powder woulda showed evidence that he was blowing Edit: at 2:50 and i think thats exactly whats being shown now 😂
only got two mins into vid before i started reading comments, then only got halfway through your comment because i had to share that i think this might be the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eZVnaXyu9ug.html
Can you find the Opie and Anthony Segment where they were listening to the Kim Kardashian song jam? For some reason it was taken down. I used to have it saved in my favorites. It was one of the best segments ever.
I've seen this a few times and I always laugh at Jimmy's "nostril cam" and Ant's, "Wasn't this show called Fuck You!"? On another note, this program was edited for time, as most shows are, obviously. But this particular part of the episode, with now-convicted and incarcerated child molester Hydrick's test subject to contolled conditions, was cut back from 90 minutes.
@@EXTENDEDWARRANT YESSS THANK YOU. Lol seriously. I heard it before a long time ago, I couldn't remember the name. I tried so hard looking for it and couldn't find it.
This one man did more damage to the entire psychic, magician, medium etc community than any other and so easily. Offer up a incredible amount of money and a few basic rules and say "Come claim your million."
@Cognitive Chaos that's completely untrue. If we're talking about the same person, people have made a lot of videos that show the curvature of the earth and proven without a doubt it's a globe earth. The one that put out the challenge responses the same way Hydrick did in this video by coming up with absolutely ridiculous responses as to why they're right. The earth is round a flat earth does not make any fucking sense.
@Cognitive Chaos oh myyy god... how can you possibly be this naive. I used to think flat earthers were making up that they believe this shit but you actually do. It's hysterical. How in 2020 are there actually people that believe the earth is flat!?
Kevin Dorn opie was necessary because he was like a black absorbent surface on a sunny day.. except the sunlight radiating to the surface was not heat, but hate, the black surface was opie’s existence and presence on the show, and the attractive properties of the surface to the heat was opie’s uncanny ability to be a fucking twat
Bob Barker is still alive, he's 97! He has the genes for longevity like Betty White, Mel Brooks and Dick Van Dyke do, and like George Burns, Kirk Douglas and Bob Hope did. Incredible!
Neither this guy nor Houdini had paranormal abilities, and they also share the distinction of being great escape artists (though one didn't rail young boys in the ass as far as we know). According to this guy's Wikipedia, among other means of freeing himself, he once POLE VAULTED HIS WAY OUT OF PRISON!! This guy seems like a complete psychopath without an inkling of any sense that he deserves to be punished for his crimes.
+Kissai Sith Jen'ari Houdini at the end of his career went around disproving paranormal accusations. James Randi got it from Houdini and so did Penn and Teller with thier TV show Bullshit.
Plato's republic Yes, I know. He even had his wife aid him in continuing to expose "psychics" after death. The point was making the connection between he and Houdini and being an illusionist (as opposed to a person vested with paranormal abilities as Hydrick claimed to be at the time) while also being an escape artist.
This guy did not have a clue as to how brilliant J RANDI is. A heart monitor with a pulse read out during this would be great to watch. Just think of the sweat and butterflies. Your right it is not a magicians trick.....magicians are skilled.
