Just like an athlete has his expiration date it's the same for radio guys. Howard's time was up in 2010. Hes so lucky hes on Sirius where their is no radio and that new book was such a RIP off. Funnily enough 20 years ago he ripped Imus for putting out a book of photography with no content. Howard has become Imus. The way he hated Imus for not allowing people to talk to him in the halls Howie does the same thing he clears the halls now. He got the dumb younger gold digging wife like Imus and hes gotten old and unfunny like Imus. Theirs so many comparisons .

here's why o and a may or may not be better than howard but their show blows stern's out of the water. They brought in jim norton (genius) then shifted to letting comedians come in so regularly that they essentially run the show and then they use the outside talent to raise the standards of their own content as well as the content of their fans. Louis ck and patrice oneal produced better radio in an hour on o and a than howard could do in a month. obviously you can tell I'm partial to o and a but without the comedic talent that they brought in almost daily the show probably would not have matched howard. But clearly they made a brilliant decision that i hope new radio jocks follow.

Howard Stern will go down as the most prominent and provocative radio performer of all time. There will never be another Howard Stern, ever. That being said, I don't think its any surprise to any fan of Howards that the glory days have come to an end. He is older and seems to have evolved as everyone does, don't hate him for it. I miss the old Stern, but nothing truly good lasts forever. Time to hang it up before he hurts his legacy. Enjoy life Stern, you fought the good fight and won.

mrhyde2484 Whatever your opinion of O&A, Sirius fucked themselves with Howie. And most of Stern's projected compensation was supposed to come from stock options which aren't worth shit now, hence Howie suing Sirius. Sirius was WAY too optimistic about future earning potential from the HSS.

Anti-establishment and bigotry are not synonymous terms. Are you assuming that PC is a convention of the "establishment"? It isn't. Keep in mind, I like Mr. Stern and his work. I'm not an avid listener, but I admire whatever I go out of my way to hear via pre-recorded clips. He is sincere, especially when he is brutal. I had no idea he sold himself out to Reality Television as I basically threw my T.V. out of a window about 13 years ago.

After Artie left, the show got progressively shit, this AGT thing was the final nail on the coffin. Howie went totally Hollywood, and his former self would have mocked his current self relentlessly. It’s crazy to think how successful O&A would be right now if they could have held it together. Just as Stern was entering his decline in the early 2010s O&A fell apart. They would have surpassed Howard by 2016-17 and been the biggest thing on Sirius right now

this topic fascinates me since i only started listening to either show like 3 years ago. youtube guided me to o&a with all the great tidbits i watched thanks to the sidebar having other suggestions. i had to download howard off tpb since it seemed like a lot of his content was censored on youtube and trying to sludge through a whole show to find comedy i quickly stopped listening. if i see a good guest or interesting topic i'll listen to stern otherwise it's o&a every day.

Ironic, isn't it? Howard constantly mocked Leno and Carson even though he secretly always wanted to be them. Opie mocked Howard all the time even though he secretly wanted to be him. The most telling part of this clip was when Opie said "this proves money can't buy happiness, no"? Opie is just jealous of how much money Howard makes compared to how little work he does

I've always been an O&A fan (pest). But being totally honest, I only listen to portions of their show anymore. In the old days they interacted more with the listeners, phone calls, etc. as they've gotten richer & more successful the format is just those in he studio talking. Answers & one liners are fed via Pal Talk and Instant feedback. The second part is interviews with A & B listeners. The real gold was a lot of interaction with the listeners. This has tapered off.

They care because Howard is draining Sirius XM of money-even suing (unsuccessfully) for more-and giving limited shows in return when other people working there need raises and are refused them.

agreed, i never watched AGT nor cared about adopting cat's and dogs so after 20 years of listening , i cancelled last november....if i see a good interview on youtube i'll listen.....
