@@zgSH4DOW Opie wasn’t the straight man. When Jimmy did Chip, Paul, or just ranted Anthony was always the one to straight man for him. When Anthony would be doing a bit or ranting and raving jim would straight man for him. Opies job was to go to spots and introduce a news stories. It’s valuable but anyone could have done it

There is one example I can think of, of Ron acting crazy. There is a fight between Fez and an Intern. Fez kept threatening him and the intern said "Fez, I don't want to fight you, but if you come after me I will defend myself" and Ron just loses it. Threatens to put the intern in the hospital, spends a few minutes yelling at him, for saying what is quite possibly the most reserved statement you can say when a fat 50 year old man is trying to fight you.

When I hear any of the producers, interns, etc. going after Fez, I can't help but think back to Patrice O'Neal's thing about Hollywood and Tracy Morgan, and the fact that so many low-level worms crawled out of the woodwork to attack him when it was declared acceptable by the "power" people.

It absolutely hilarious listening back to this show now hearing Opie talk and listening to Anthony essentially coddle Opie’s ego. As flawed as Anthony is, Opie was a glorified board operator and time keeper. Opie deep down had to have known that he was as not the draw to the show and it was really Ant and Jimmy and then their interactions with their geusts. Opie is cringeworthy to listen to and Anthony played captain save a ho quite a bit to opies ignorance

+Jimmy Darmody You're not alone - I don't know what everyone's on when they slate Sam. He isn't an outwardly 'hilariously funny' guy, but the shit he brings to the show in terms of the tricks he pulls on people behind the scenes, setting people up for a fall, shit stirring, sarcasm, and all that shit - the guy's an asshole but he's fucking brilliant. And yeah, Sam, Ant and Jimmy is much more listenable than the usual set up.
