I'm the reverse - O&A got me listening to Louis. I was lucky enough to meet Louis in 2007 at one of the O&A Traveling Virus road shows and he signed a few items for me. He was a really nice guy!
Louis was definitely at the peak of his self love here. Every point he makes sounds so profound. I think he read a little too much into what people actually liked about him. He's way better now, but back then he was condescending and felt the need to "break everything down" for the commoners
i really enjoy Louie and Ant talking about boats. how many of those conversations they had since 2001 - 4? and each one of them was amazing. i dont know why, but i love when they talk about boats. i wish every Louie's appearance would consist of boat talk.
Penn stays for 15 minutes, then it's all Louie. Enjoy. If you're adding this to your collection, I recommend the title: "Louis C.K on O&A #47 - I Wanna Fuck That Kid"
I have an irrational burning hatred for people that come here that love Louie but hate O&A. Unless you've heard Louis' countless appearances on O&A you've experienced about 5% of the guy. He has (or had, rather) a dynamic with them that's completely unlike any canned, bullshit interview you've seen anywhere else.
Weird as fuck I was freshly 15 here. I wouldn’t fucking loved it. I remember listening to this episode driving to Denver to see my mom in the hospital. I remember where I was when hearing about the vermeer part. Saw a truck with the name too. Beautiful part of Colorado.
Magic is one of the most embarrassing things in the world to do badly. good god...i did ONE magic show when i was maybe 10 and it was the stereo-typical shit 10 year old magic show where i couldn't afford any good tricks or gags. i had basically two things i could do and people just stared at me bored and embarrassed for my whole one-minute routine. it was agonizing.
it's funny to think that Louis, whose material often paints himself as the sort of "older wiser" guy whose "fed up with it all" and "seen everything" is the kid in this pairing; Penn has a much longer and, at least financially, more successful career so when he tells louis shit like "yeah i don't think ya did" louis doesn't bite back. Very respectful to your senior in entertainment.
Louis knew how the industry worked and also managed his own career. Folks like him, Burr, Patrice etc aren't (or weren't) brands, they're genuine. They respect guys like Penn. The industry is terrified of that because it's very hard to control them with advertising and sponsors - as Louis has mentioned in his experiences with creating his show on FX he knew they needed him more than he needed them. The only way to control someone like that is to wait until (random example) the day before they're about to premiere a movie and then make a press release about them jerking off in front of someone.
Kind of dumb he says "I'm the only one doing it". I got into a bad traffic jam on I 95 the previous summer and had 5 or 6 cars stuck behind me at one point. Lmao one of them actually overheated and appeared to break down.
I feel bad penn kinda blew up those magicians spot idk if he realized this was recorded and going to be archived and listened to for a long time. If you go to those guys RU-vid all their comments are disabled still
I'll sum up Jim's contributions in this part of the show for everyone: "Yeah" "Yeah" "Exactly" "Unfunny reference with lots of cursing as a pathetic attempt to punch it up" "Exactly"
No, there's a reason people get tickets. It's because you're endangering other people by driving fast. Everyone that has gone over 100 mph should be jailed for life.
Timothy Stratton It's probably just for money, but I see your point. Jailing them for life is a bit steep though; people don't even always get that for killing folks.
Robert Brothers Also, that would mean that if you drive that fast, you might as well run over people (ignoring externalities---eg more people will report licence plate /etc). Although-you probably wouldn't want to do that unless your crazy; I mean running over people-but either is a bit manic.
The trick Penn was talking about is in season 1 episode 2 of fool us, its so funny watching it knowing that theres a cut where Penn was fucking with this guy between them asking fi they where fooled, him asking if they could do it if they werent old, and the guy telling them he got it.
