We actually have enough oil...oil prices aren't dictated by supply and demand, but by the sale of oil futures (prices based on speculation of what oil will cost in the future). Oil is actually plentiful right now but people need to make a return on what they invested in futures price per barrel. The prices are further complicated by the presence of cartels that set their own prices as well, but a majority of US oil is not from the middle east.
A guy like Patrice would have been even more effective than the people he was referring to at getting this information across to the masses. Might have been the pragmatic thing to do to get rid of him.
