Not defending Talker Art, he never used to be like this. I guess some people are unhappy that in these hard financial times massive corporations are exploting price hikes. There is no justification to charge $40 for a basic figure, with no paint apps or accessories in a closed box. Look at Mythic Legions regular figures are still the same price as they were 12 months ago $37, they have complex paint apps, accessories and collector friendly packages.

I don't know I've definitely seen people complain about certain things on McFarlane figures while neglecting those same complaints on Hasbro figures. We saw people complain about the hips on McFarlane figures but accepted a barely posable Spider-Man for years until the Retro wave. We see people complain when McFarlane reuses bucks yet Hasbro is literally built on reuse. I'm not saying that there's a bunch of people out there that are Shilling for Hasbro but there is also a lot of people out there showing that they're more lenient towards things when it's something that they like from a company that is nice to them.
Dan handled it awesome, the rest of the community is apparently fragile af tho. Dan addressed it, Talker said he would stop, issue is solved. I think it's hilarious that people are mad about TalkerArt when he is one of the realist reviewers. But that's life nowadays, demonize people with other opinions. Calling an Asian Asian isn't racist. People complain about white men all the time, I'm not out here crying about it. I grew up w mexicans who called me white boy, people are too thin skinned in 2022. Talker has a bigger ML collection than anyone else on earth, so he has a strong opinion. This seems like a cheap grab for views for JC.

Great video. And I agree on the Talker Art issue. I remember back in 2020 people were giving Pixel Dan the business because he was reviewing Neca TMNT product samples. That man puts in the work to make his channel successful. I don't begrudge that.
I like Jay but the community needs people like Talker Art , the guy has no filter and calls out alot of things that need to be called out, his point on reviewers sugar coating flaws of a figure because they get free samples and exclusives is a reality just to be in the good graces of companies, the reuse of molds, the subpar quality plastic, the pricing increase. Talker Art ain't perfect he has his flaws but none of the reviewers who got the free exclusive samples said ANYTHING negative about the figures so his point is totally valid while his way of delivering it was wrong. Hasbro Marvel Legends team ain't saints too they have been out there publicly taking shots on McFarlane all the time.

This is why I like your channel. Great attitude. I think in this day and age learning to filter out bias for the facts is a must-have skill. I mostly watch reviews to see what to watch out for so I don't accidentally break my figures posing. Also if I'm on the fence about one, seeing it in action can make or break it for me.

If talker was trying to hide it he would have never posted it. I respect both sides of it for not hiding when they were around each other physically and not behind the cozy comfort of their home!

An infant might have more common sense when it comes to toys than some of these " adult collectors " ! If an infant or child gets a toy the already have they throw it aside but if an adult collector gets the same toy repainted for the 40th time they jump for joy and ask for more re use !
I only have one legitimate complaint about figures and that is supply and demand just like in all businesses that sell products to consumers. If you're going to put forth the products that Hasbro makes then you need to anticipate the demand. I understand that there are underline costs for producing figures but at the same time, there has been a surge of new collectors which would stand to reason meeting the demand. The Marvel Brand Team is doing an excellent job by keeping us updated on all products. Listening to what opinions collectors have while maintaining the pace of the current product released now and down the line. I will continue to buy figures until I can no longer afford them or I lose my passion for them.

Well… not sure about talker art’s true intentions with those remarks, but from what I know about talker art’s videos which I love watching, it is clear to me that he has a habit of talking like a sailor:) it is the way he expresses himself, and is genuinely a part of him. Regardless good or bad, his channel is about sharing his own private opinion on the hobby and I enjoy it greatly. Regarding his interaction with Hasbro, it truly seems like he is not aware how his way of speaking can seem insulting and derogatory. I stop watching a lot of reviewers because everything they got was said to be amazing and when you go buy and feel like art says it is trash. And it starts making it seem like they are all trying to suck there “D” Unfortunately this three people that are in the marketing team are the face of hasbro and are going to take a lot BS for it that’s what they are paid for. Just like when you complain to a manager at a restaurant, the person on the phone when your bill is messed up. It isn’t right but who do you turn to when you are upset a company. There is no way you will be able to actually talk to the actual ceo of the company. That just shows how passionate he is about this. Will never watch anything TalkerArt ever is on. Not his content or anyone that puts him on their videos. And the gall for him to suggest they send him product samples after referring to Dan and Ryan as the Asians and not having the respect to call them by their names. I noticed that TalkerArt no longer has this video posted on his channel.
There's a reason why I am sub to you and not him. I really don't think he's racist, but he still has that old school ignorant mentality and is unprofessional to be an influencer or any kind. Hasbro also really needs to show you more love, there's too much politics and favoritism.
The key that makes it clear he’s being racist, is at the end of a video (made when he returned to his home), is that he said he’ll stop using the slurs when they give him an interview. Not because he realizes it’s wrong. Also, he may be an honest man by expressing his true opinions, not so much in deeds though. He regularly brags about returning figures that either he’s taken accessories from and kept or returning a different figure than the box was for.

It's really funny how labels have been viewed so much in a negative fashion. Yes, I categorize/label things; that's just how my mind works. The use of the word "influencer" doesn't mean anything to me. It's just a term or label for me, regardless of it's official meaning or how other regard the word. The whole point of my watching youtubers, such as Jay, is to watch their reviews and see their opinions and handling of figures. I don't always and completely regard all of his opinions and views and I do the same to other RU-vidrs; that's the reason I watch multiple youtubers' reviews on the same figure. Take for example the Haslab HISS tank. Jayc was enthusiastic about it and he presented his arguments FOR the tank. I watch many of his vids and opinions on it but in the end my own opinions about the whole thing and it's price point is just different from Jay and I still respect his opinion. I think I'll end up supporting it because of the 4 figures but grudgingly. Specially, since I did prove to myself that I easily created my own Classified Hiss tank that is also an RC for less than $75 and in less than a month's time. As for talkerart, I actually do look at his reviews. His use of language has always been something I tolerate and just block out because I wanted to hear what some of this reaction to the figures. I was impressed with his collection and how he handled it's display. It shows passion for what he collects. But sometimes passions can get heated. It also sometimes goes too far, and becomes too much anger and just negativity. I also, don't know if he's just joking but I really didn't like how he "returns" things. I'm glad Jay added a clip of the interaction and I can see that, it did eventually hit Talker with how he might have went too far, but I still also hear in his voice that he still didn't take it too seriously. Talker might be ok being trash-talked to but it doesn't give him the right being rudely demeaning and trash-talking someone to their face. I'm glad to hear that Dan immediately confronted him on it and did not back down from it.
Talker said that very same thing that he was impressed that they told him it was not cool to say what he said. I too watch a lot of different reviews some are so scared too upset Hasbro others like say Anthony's Customs tell you what he thinks. At the end of the day there is no excuse for Hasbro's lack of qc, or their price gouging. I have no intention to quit, jest very selective.
@@kuldipbinning1989 I looked thru Talker's videos to see more of his side or if he talked about it. I feel that in the clip shown he didn't really show regret or an apology. From what I've seen of his attitude he seems candid and a no-bull kinda guy regardless of how ugly it sounds. But he also seems like, if you slap it to him strong enough and you're in the right; he'll take to it and man-up. As for Hasbro's insane prices, I don't feel any anger towards the marketing team or development team. It's all those upper management of Hasbro whose hands are going for their piece of the pie. They want their shares big. Compare that I just bought, tax included, a Classified Gung Ho at walmart for 27.00 and a Mcfarlane Azrael Knightfall for 21.00. How is that possible? Mcfarlane's figures are bigger, just as articulated and a one-off body. AND he has to pay licensing fees to Warners for use of character.

Great vid Jay, you did a nice job of addressing what you felt needed to be addressed without getting into the unnecessary bullshit that makes these things bigger than they should be. I've been watching toy reviews on RU-vid sense 2008 and I've watched shartimus before his channel blew up and even met him a few times in person and he's not a shill like so many people say he is. He's just a guy who has been consistently making toy reviews for more than a decade now and has become the mcdonalds of the toy reviewing "influencers". I dont think people know how it is to have a relationship with companies, ofcourse shartimus and other "influencers" are not going to talk shit about brands they review because they want to have and keep a good relationship with them so that they can too influence the product. Boognice is also a guy who's been in the reviewing game for more than a decade now and he is a good example of someone who knows how to keep a good relationship with hasbro so that his opinions and critics actually get seen by the hasbro team and because of that he has actually influenced the hasbro team in improving the product. I think most toy "influencers" are pretty good at telling people that they got a free sample and I'd say most of them are honest but respectful in their reviews of the product. I think some people want them to be derogatory or just straight up trash the product and that's why they call them shills when doing that is not beneficial to the reviewer or the company putting the product out.

We are in a period of time where censorship is being pushed too much. You will never stop people from saying things you don't agree with. If I don't like what someone says I just don't watch them. I like Talker Art he calls out the companies on overcharging and poor products. I don't agree with everything he says, but he has a lot of good opinions and experience collecting.

It’s a damn shame that in a hobby like action figure collecting, that there’s so many pricks and assholes in something where you would think everyone would get along better since they enjoy the same thing. But instead people are so rude, nasty, hateful, racist, and bigoted towards each other. It almost makes one not even wanna be a part of the hobby.
I don't think the use of influencers in the adult action figure collector social media space is much of an issue. We're grown toy collectors who need to use our BS detectors so we don't accidentally buy mediocre toys. Being a racist A-hole influencer is a much bigger societal issue than whether or not Shartimus can maintain his objectivity after receiving a free action figure.
I’d like to see them sourcing smaller channels that don’t get all the views because they get all the figures months in advanced. So, all it does is just further richer the most popular creators! That’s my issue with the process! Spread the love!!
@@bnbtoys I've seen them give some shine to smaller channels like Annoying You With Friendship and The Figure Report. Granted Report got his Moon Knight reveal because he's Oscar Issac's brother, but still. Just got to build the channel enough to catch their eye and you might get a reveal one of these days. Sorry, some are paid by brands. I believe Shartimus has admitted getting paid by Hasbro. I get it, doesn't bother me, I am just watching to check out the figure. I think Toy Galaxy used to influence my buying with his end of year list, but that was when I was newer to collecting and influencer's videos. But we should be told they are reviewing a free figure.
I've seen him get free stuff from Hasbro, Mattel, BBTS, Kotobukiya, probably more, but he does disclose when things are sponsored or "provided for review." If that's your primary complaint, I don't think it's warranted. I've also seen Pixel Dan, Review Spot, Laura Legends and others in the community disclose when they receive free products or press kits. Whether it's right or wrong, free review copies are kind of the standard in the review business. Movie critics don't pay to see the movies they review, IGN doesn't pay for review copies of games, etc. It's such a given, in fact, that other communities, like the aforementioned movie and game communities, rarely even mention when they are provided screener copies, review code, etc. It's just expected. I guess we in the toy community expect things to be different because most of our reviewers aren't big enough for free review merchandise to be given to them. We expect them to disclose when they're the outliers that actually receive free review merch. I think that's fair, considering that free review copies are still outside the norm in our community. But I think going so far as to think they're outright paid by the toy companies is more conspiratorial speculation than what's actually been observed.

I saw Talker Art on one of the 3POA streams a few months ago. I’m sure he has an audience but it just wasn’t for me. It was complete cringe. I tuned out after about 20 minutes of his garbage talk.
Saw the same live stream and he awful to listen to. All he did was complain about Marvel Legends yet buys like every figure they release. He came across as whiny and desperate for attention. Worst 3POA stream they have ever done and hope they stop bringing him on the show.

I'm surprised action figure collecting is not as big as other hobbies as you mentioned regarding influencers. Especially when some of the biggest attractions in SDCC are the action figure panels. There are even toy fares for crying out loud!!!

That's what I struggle with the most with people when trying to share the hobby with the family. Doesn't make much sense to me, the bad language because it's action figures and toys that are made for kids first and foremost. Idk I'm just lucky to have your videos to share with the family so thanks for that for whatever it's worth.
I followed talkerart for about 5 minutes earlier this year. Literally the FIRST video I watched was him giving a figure a (justifiable) bad review but then stating he needed the BAF piece and planned to swap it and return the figure. He’s a major douchebag.
I absolutely 💯 agree with you. His behavior was trash. Treat people with respect and if you do have comments about products express it in a productive manner. It appears that he thinks everything is funny or is he expressing his natural feelings and masking it by saying he was trying to be funny for RU-vid? Regardless he made all the wrong choices and I will never watch his channel.
Saying "it's just a joke" is a very very basic deflection. Calling them "twins" is not a joke is just being racist and saying "they all look alike", there's nothing else to it. Dude is just a douche
I watch all of TalkerArts videos and find them very entertaining for the way he is. It's called having a sense of humor but also calling out toy companies for the lack of effort on certain figures.
It’s not a sense of humor when you being politics into every video like Talker does. He always ends his videos with a very specific saying that is derogatory towards President Biden. Sorry, but someone whose values include using someone’s race in such a derogatory way (which he also does in just about every video up until he was confronted) and supporting someone like president #45 doesn’t quite align with the majority. Politics should remain outside of this hobby as should childish remarks. I’m glad Dan confronted him because it allowed us to hear the fear and embarrassment in Talker’s voice. I’ve never heard the guy’s voice tremble like it did at SDCC 🤣 but hey, maybe now he’ll think twice. He’s already backpedaled more than I thought he would, so it’s been nice to see the veil pulled back.

J Hernandez and Toy Galaxy are 2 of the worst offenders, plus a bunch of collectors/customizers on Instagram. The paint aps aren't the main problem it's the re-use and the top legends reviewers not only celebrate re-use they beg for it and get it ! Like " please use the omega red body for venom !" A comic book venom should have it's own sculpt ! The movie figures can be compared to mafex and shf when it comes to sculpt and paint which proves Hasbro takes the comic book fans for granted because modern comic book characters have wrinkles and armor not painted naked bodies !

I'm a collector of Latino background. I know discrimination. Our hobby doesn't need the drama. The bottom line is the real color of racism which sadly divides some people is GREEN. We can be racist against Talkerart if we choose to and throw it back at him or we can be vigilant and express to him that we don't appreciate racism in our hobby. Thank you JayC
Yeah dude made all kinds of derogatory comments during the Marvel legends fan panel about the Marvel legends team and towards Dan in their showroom & Boog addressed this issue as well. We don't need people like making the hobby toxic
I just recently started buying lord of the rings orc figures that were made by toybiz , for a thor display. Getting them in hand I was amazed to see the intricate detail and paint apps on every little detail front , back and all around the figure. These figures at twenty years old , and really show the high point for toy biz was lord of the rings and not really marvel legends. Seeing these figures makes me kinda sad , as they show what present day figures could be like , even mcfarlane no longer has the paint apps that they themselves were known for. You really can see how they cut corners and how people get so excited for what in the past would be an inferior paint and detail work. It goes to show that as time goes on that the craft of this hobbies does not always evolve upward to better thing , but falls away to poor quality.
Do you guys knows about a channel called David Displays Model Behaviour or Displaying Model Behaviour? It is kind of a huge difference from TalkerArt lol, like the total opposite in the best way. If you guys didn't like TalkerArt, maybe check out Displaying Model Behaviour and see if you like his style instead.
Honestly imo if anything is gonna ruin this hobby its the community itself. not the price increases or repaints or any other excuse some people make it's THE PEOPLE. personally i dont interact that much with the community because it just feels uninviting some times. (And then you got dumbasses like this guy underneath talking about someone making money off of selling their figures smh)
Idk.. TalkerArt is like the Bill Burr of the collecting community. I find him amusing, but I find Burr and Chappelle amusing as well. So maybe I'm just a pos, but comedy is subjective sooooo...
In the years, there's only been one toy reviewer I put on blocked, some guy who reviewed and made customs - but when he went on a cheezus tourette, he was gone.

Speaking to the influencer side of it i think it's pretty much ended at the point where said influencer informs the viewer about them being sent the figure/s in question. Once they do that they have allready informed the viewer about the possible bias. I believe you have to do that and that Hasbro (rightly) asks people to inform viewers of it as well. The possible issue could be on Hasbro, if they were proven to only send such samples to those likely to be positive and/or have been positive in the past. In this case the dishonesty would be on Hasbro's part. I also wanted to comment on your idea that people who are fans will naturally be skewed. I disagree with the sentiment as i truly believe you can take a step back and look at things from an unbiased perspective even when you are a fan of something. It's also possible that fans of a certain thing will be more critical of flaws i general, especially if it is legitemately worsening.
Brand managers get a lot of crap from these overgrown manboys. They kind of mess up the hobby sometimes. Make no mistake, Talker Art meant it as a racialized slur against probably one of the nicest guys in the business. I feel like people are way too comfortable making fun of and attacking Asian people because they don't complain as loudly as other groups, but the attacks against them are real. I live in the NY tri-state area, and I see it sadly on a constant basis. It has to stop.
