Do people not watch videos? OB was simply stating that Poki Chloe should be held to the same standard as “scalpers”. He didn’t even criticize or attack her. He simply said “hey why’s it acceptable for poki Chloe but the community consistently makes a fuss over the folks reselling out the door” you guys are bozos I swear. You never keep the same energy. I don’t ever wanna hear complaints about scalpers ever again.

I used to be a fan of all of these content creators, but the nature of social media, driven my negativity as a driver for clicks, has turned me off. This is not only common in the Pokemon content world, but across other areas.

I can’t fathom why people would recommend watching a rattle video concerning clipping screenshots of discord. Lot of things presented with no context or investigation. Lot of personal biases involved in shoehorning year old comments in the name of content creation.

Regardless if people are selling outside of worlds or on ebay it's still scalping and scummy. Instead of these cards potentially reaching the secondary market from the original owners we have a bunch of people pestering staff buying up all the promos at worlds just to make a quick buck. I don't understand why people are tiptoeing around the issue trying to make excuses for these people. If they we're her's/team's promos from working the event that's one thing but that's not the case.

I don't think it should be the norm that people scalp exclusive products to sell to ignorant buyers at infatuated prices just to cover their Pokemon vacation. Idk call me crazy

This was a good, calm take on the situation. Did I say what Chloe was doing was scalping in Opossum's comment section? Ya, I did. Was I mad about it? No. I basically said that if there were no buyers for such things, the scalpers wouldn't exist. We all know that'll never happen, tho. Was I bummed when I got into the store to find out all the Hawaii stuff was gone? Ya, I was. I wasn't mad, tho. The people selling exclusive merch on the side of the Ala Wai canal probably did this before and they probably know how to game the system. It is what it is. Stuff selling out and getting flipped is absolutely nothing new to me. Been like that since I got into the hobby like 5 years ago.

Like you said she isn’t the first and she won’t be the last. Should she maybe have waited until she wasn’t there anymore? Maybe, but who knows what the market would be like. At the end of the day, they’re staff cards & they’re not shelf items being scalped so other members of the public can’t have them. Staff cards are given to staff, so the average shmo doesn’t have access to them anyway! I always say that people can list things in eBay for what they want, doesn’t mean they’ll get it! If they sell, good on her that’s someone willing to pay her prices for them. Also, it doesn’t affect me but I can see both sides I just don’t understand why it needed to be a big deal. This whole situation is really just stupid. People making videos on this is only keeping it going, not helping it. Ill say this, people commenting on any of these videos, Bud's, Rattle's, yours, whoevers it is, are able to make decisions for themselves. Blaming Bud for not picking a side and then saying he let his followers loose is just a bad take. These people can make decisions for themselves. And people have been criticizing selling of staff promos and worlds merch for years, its not new. Radar was criticized for his comments. Just because Bud didnt make a video on it doesnt mean people are just zoning in on Chloe. This is just drama for the sake of drama. No real beef here.

I don’t think you can blame a creator for their comment section? He was simply raising awareness - people will think what they want. And unlike opossum bud, it’s clear what side you’re on.

Who cares how much someone sells something for? An item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If someone is willing to pay $1000 then it’s worth $1000. If someone is willing to pay that, then why would you look down on someone for selling it for that price? Would you sell something for $200 if people are willing to pay $1000? No you wouldn’t. People that get mad about this are just insecure about the fact that they couldn’t buy it themselves. Get over yourself people. And if price goes down later and you paid more than it’s worth next year…. Oh well. Prices fluctuate on collectors items all the time. Some go up some go down. That’s the gamble you take.

People seem to always suffer from "tall poppy syndrome" a whole lot of unnecessary negativity surrounding something that's part of every single event anywhere at any time whether it be pokemon, yu gi oh, music festivals, movie premieres etc etc it's crazy haha and it will always be apart of entertainment. as I wrote in shinyvert's video, all of this is a bit hypocritical coming from people who make money out of buying cards, grading them and reselling them.. and ALL of these "creators" do it all the time. Shinyvert himself got 10 or 20 (can't remember) of the Pikachu in grey felt hat cards and graded them. I'm sure he won't resell them.. RIGHT? Why is Pokichloe a scalper? Is time the problem? if she sold these after a year would that be ok? She owns a shop and people who have shops do that all the time, especially if their business has to do with collectible stuff. She makes money out of this and she did it with a card that wasn't available widely to begin with

We can resell items with out doing the same thing scalpers do them. It’s not hard. She made a bu bu and she got to own it. Possum didn’t tarnish anyone’s career or channel. He just pointed out a RU-vidr and their actions that shows cloe doing a scalpers move. He can speak his mind and we have all the right to decide what to think. Not wrong. Dang wish I saw the investor drama video...good on Nostalgia to actually apologize. I actually didnt think he would do that. I get your take that opossum drew a fence and made the community divisive...but if he came out and choose a side(which he choose a side)....he still would have caused a divided community. No matter how you spin it, I think there would have been no appealing to that point. He wanted to bring up something that is happening but you are right Chloe's not the first and last. the video of Radar a year ago about content creators already doing this is the proof. I don’t care what anyone does.. make money do whatever you gotta do I guess. She can do whatever is available to her.. What I find annoying is the dialogue from these bigger “personalities” about doing it to cover the costs of trips trying to justify the flipping/scalping/reselling whatever you want to call it.. don’t try and make people “feel bad” for your trip, just like you don’t want us to feel bad for the people spending $1000 on a card.. Just sell the stuff and if asked why, it’s cause you have a business and keep it moving. Especially when these people will make money from the videos they make, the merch, etc.. Also, you’re not 100% correct on Nintendo not covering costs.. just scroll instagram and there are a number of accounts that had to mention/thank the Pokemon company for access/accommodations/etc to worlds. Not saying they cover all the costs.. but if you’re going.. you’re getting some access other people can’t get and/or free stuff.. making videos and posts on it that all create revenue as well.. don’t cry about the cost.. don’t go then if can’t afford it 🤷🏽

Making plays on trading cards is not scalping. It’s just knowing the market better than other people. If someone is willing to sell me a card for X and I know I can sell it for 5X, that’s just the benefit I get for spending the time it takes to become informed. It’s not like some kid was waiting in line for hours for a freaking staff promo card. They want the plushies and toys! Ppl who scalp those should be publicly shamed..

One more question i would ask is "If the sidewalk scalpers sold their items on eBay would that make it ok? Would giving everyone in the world a shot at that item, as you mention Chloe did, make it ok?" I think the answer remains no. Lastly - i want to directly challenge the point that OB is making the fence by bringing up the question without outright taking a side. The fence already existed which is evident given the pre existing, already heated discussion. It seems OB intended to create further discussion about the fence. So yea he pushed people to take a side and clearly this isnt as black and white as either side would suggest. But isnt it better to pose the question to the community rather than try to direct the narrative yourself? That seems far nore open and honest to me. It also is likely the reason OBs comment section is so active. He encourages this discourse. Oook and there goes an hour of work. Lol

I mean maybe the scalpers outside the store spent money to be there to scalp? Maybe they are people from the community of Hawaii trying to make a bit of money for their family? At the end of the day it's the same thing, people using the resources they have (proximity, fame, finances) to get a product at a lower price to sell for a higher price.

It comes with the territory so either it bothers you or it don't . She will sell them either way so what does it matter in the end isn't that what she wanted won't people get over it . Top video, mostly for being able to have the discussion whilst keeping things civil and being an adult. That said, I do disagree with a view points, whilst it OB not stating his opinion did open the doors for everyone else to state theirs, I don't see that as as bad thing. Whilst this is the internet so inevitably there will be the trolls and stupid comments, it is on the individual themselves to reach their own conclusion and to be able to have a civil discussion within the community (probably a super optimistic hope on my part that it would remain civil). Similar to your point on people being responsible for their own financial decisions, I see it as people being responsible for their opinions, how they present them and welcome spaces where they are free to express those. Second, whilst Chloe wasn't the first and Radar didn't get discussed previously (props to the guy to being so honest about it), I don't think that really changes the base point OB was trying to make in that why is it okay for some to make money from buying & selling the merch and not others. Unfortunately it was Chloe here who was the visible one doing it and that got picked up. I think everyone has their own line on where it becomes not okay and his video could have been a great way for people to discuss what they think and why. Unfortunately it quickly delved into 'simp' comments etc which is a shame. That said, great video and think if more creators and commenters took the approach you have here of calmly providing their opinion with respect then this whole place would be a lot better for it. (That said, I definitely ain't ever buying any of the world's merch from anyone!)

As a woman who is viewed as attractive (and friends with Rattle, Chloe, John etc etc) I can confirm that there is definitely bias happening, as I have had it happen time and time again to myself throughout my many mediums of work. The fact that Rattle made a video - calling them out for their nonsense - and providing knowledge on worlds (with fancy adult words) essentially meant that he is a simp and wanting to sleep with Chloe. That in itself is showing a larger issue. Also, bud and vert can't claim to be an advocate for anything while creating and fuelling something they have no knowledge on. Also, as someone who is close to Rattle - we advocated for him to create and discuss the videos with conversations between all parties (including Chloe). Where Bud and Vert did not even take a single moment to contact her or anyone on her team in relation to the event/staff promos. Really appreciate your kind take on this and happy you're a part of the good people we love in Pokemon. :)

Honest take and I respect it. 👌🏼 I live in Hawaii. And yes it happened, but if it was anywhere else it would be the same. I just feel like this situation shouldn’t have been said on the internet. It happens everywhere and in every hobby. To mention one person individually when others do it without having concrete knowledge on the situation isn’t right especially knowing the platform you have. In my opinion its irresponsible, especially if it’s part of the community you’re apart of. I’m not taking sides, if you need to hustle, then hustle. I'm not picking a side or mentioning names, although I will admit I thought the resale of the merch 100ft outside the convention center was lame and did comment that on an Opposum Vid, who's content I watch daily and respect as much as Chloe's. OB is the South Park of The TCG. Basically providing no new content but quoting current events. He is a finger pointer kind of guy with an opinion.. that’s about it.

Bruh I litterally canceled my poke center time slot cuz everything was sold out lol 😭 thankfully I live in Hawaii so I just stayed home but I could imagine how disappointed all the families and fans that flew here from across the world feel 🫠 poke center really shoulda put a limit on purchases. 11 minutes in so far and i think your best point is OB not knowing what Chloe bought the cards at. Drawing conclusions without a definitive set of facts to guide those opinions is usually dubious at best. Overall though it seemed the intent of the OB video was to draw a comparison and ask why it's different/ok to do one thing that is very comparable to another. Its not identical but it's certainly similar. But to say others have done it before is no justification. Which is also part of OBs point. Why is it ok for some but not others? You wouldnt excuse one bad actor because another bad actor had done it before. You would try to adjust that bad behavior moving forward, regardless of who the last or prior offender was. Regardless, the multitude of comments on each side seems to drive the point home that there is validity to the question itself as there is significant disagreement within the community. Many people agree with OB and many dont. One thing is certain - the scalpers are taking advantage of scarcity to sell items for greater than market value. But if people are willing to buy at that price, then for at least a short period, those higher values are market value. Even before they were purchased, the expectation based on previous Worlds events was that MSRP is not really the market value. The true value is undoubtedly higher given demand. Chloe was doing the same except there was not initial MSRP for staff cards. She is taking advantage of scarcity to sell an item with high demand and low availability. The community outright condenns the former but accepts the latter despite them being similar. Why is that the case? Not my place to answer but the question remains. Keep your discourse civil folks 🤙

Hi there, love your content, just wanted to throw my two cents in here. Content creators go to the world's championships without budgeting, and then to pay for their plane tickets and hotel and food decide to sell staff promos that we don't know how much it cost them.....I'm a little lost. and sure other people talk about doing the same things, however it does feel a little off in the current climate of all things bad in the world of pokemon.

People who are funding this behavior are the heart of the issue. You can't get mad at the market for making decisions. Lambos shouldn't cost the same as a house (my opinion). If Chloe did something unethical to obtain the cards I can see the issue. But if she purchased X cards and the Pokemon convention didn't set buy limits she just played the game everyone else is welcome to play. Did she stomp over a kid to get them? If she did I can see the scummy-ness. But we don't have the context to show she did anything different than anyone else who got the cards for that convention price. At some point you are going to have to sell your collectibles. When you die they will still be here. Who are you to say when and how someone else should sell their stuff. It's crazy to me. Would people be mad if she sold them for a loss? Like who cares. Why get obsessed over other people's buying decisions that don't affect you. I think people are jealous or angry they can't make those types of quick flips and are directing their anger outward. The whole point of describing the cost of hotels and airfare is to show that it's a risky "play" to fly out to these conventions and aim to profit on promos. You need at least 3,000-5,000 dollars to put down for travel and dorm. You need to hope you can buy X amount of cards to break even or profit. You need to hope there will be enough buyers on ebay to purchase. This isn't a task for everyone. Most people don't even have the travel funds to put down for a play like this.

So here is the problem with labeling people “scalpers”. Take myself for example. I grade cards and flip them. I can grade a $2 card and if it hits a 10 and now it is worth 20x what it was worth before, is that scalping? If I pull a $100 card from a $4 pack, and sell it is that scalping? Virtue signaling and using the term scalpers to label what certain people do as bad is just simple minded imo. We all recoup money from the hobby in one way or the other, the holier than thou crap gets old fast. I think you highlighted that with some of your points in this vid. I think people just like to have a boogeyman to be angry at. That may be an unpopular opinion, but I just don’t get worked up about people flipping staff promos or someone selling a ukulele for triple the price. Also if anyone wants a piece of Worlds 2024 merch pick up the coin from the Pokemon Center it is free and very cool!

there are many gamers who make their living from selling the event stuff they get to make money to live on and be able to go to the next event. Plus, with Pokichloe it a business she does sell Pokémon cards did people forget that plus she free to put whatever price she wants on those cards. plus, why was she the only one, am sure there were others there. Scalpers are just people who buy a large amount which intend to resell at the event to make a large of money more than what they brought it for mostly locals to the area. it was only to get views for bud and unfortunate Pokichloe got put into something she shouldn't have.

my take: is scalping bad? in my humble opinion NO it's somewhat of a necessary evil to keep the excitement in this hobby interesting because without drama and hype most of this hobby wouldn't be as popular as it is now// if someone is willing to pay a certain price for something they're grown adults for the most part and shouldn't blame someone for decisions they made with their money. Now is Pokicholoe wrong for scalping pokemon merch/cards? YES she's in the wrong reselling something she got basically for free which is scalping in the truest sense there is no good or bad scalping it's the same concept she is definitely a scalper 100% and someone in her position as a community influencer in this hobby should know better but I digress. Yes she's wrong for that because she's a community leader is her own respective and is somewhat of a influencer in this community so for someone of her caliber to actively make it known she flipped something she got for free for $1k will damage her reputation considering the fact she makes plenty from this community as an influencer and her doing the scalping just disrespects her viewers outright because of the role she holds as a community influencer. If she had any common sense she should have done the sale anonymously. Ultimately she's indirectly slapping her loyal fanbase in the face. The other guy in your video isn't as well known as pokicholoe in this hobby bro./ so basically what I'm saying is scalping isn't bad but it's the way that she did it damaged her reputation because of the quick flip. I personally don’t consider Chloe a scalper for the Worlds staff cards! Now if she bought every single one available and/or carts full of those than it would be a different story. Def gotta say getting a handful of exclusive staff cards its not that bad. Yeah she put em up for 10x the price but thats just a smart business move. The issue is Chloe exploiting whomever to upcharge such on the staff cards. It's like if you buy a card from someone and then you just list it back up to flip it same day without saying you are going to resell it. Is it morally wrong? Yes. It is nothing like opening a pack and hitting a big card to sell it like some are saying lol. Chloe is a content creator whom exploited whoever to make profit, a fan, whomever. Was Chloe upfront about being a reseller? No. That's an issue. If I am buying to sell I tell people simply. More than likely she did not do that unless she can confirm that she did.

Unfortunately, the hostility that Covid brought killed any common sense definition of "scalp" on any kind of scale. Everybody is a scalper to somebody in some situation.

So she is still flipping/scalping..... saying that she has to flip/scalp (or however you said it) in order to pay for her teams flight/hotel is a big time excuse. You can hagle with people selling on the street, same as OBO. So that makes it the exact same thing just one had a large known platform with an easier ability to get staff promos.

One thing "I think" "my opinion" is that people are forgetting that PokeChloe owns a Card Shop now. Her, just like your LCS, will not pay retail for a card that your selling, then turn around and sell it for the same price. Shops have an overhead that needs to paid, and that is buying cards/collectables under retail, and selling them at a higher price to MAKE MONEY.

Are we not all scalpers? We buy a pack for let's say retail. We open said pack and hit gold. Well in some cases we'll sell or trade said gold for said price which is way more than the pack price. No one says gold should be the price of the pack we pulled it from because someone is willing to pay a set price that gold is worth. So yes, we are all scalpers. The argument now ends.

How exactly is this a bad look for Chloe? She sells Pokémon cards for a living. Nobody has the responsibility to tell her or anyone else what they can or cannot do with their own property. If you don't like what Chloe does, buy your Pokémon cards from someone else. Or don't. I don't care. It's none of my business and it's none of your business either. The idea that Opossum Bud wasn't taking sides is preposterous. He not only took sides, he made a video urging his viewers to determine if Chloe is a "scalper" or not. That was stupid and extremely reckless. It's targeted harassment. Opossum Bud knows full well how toxic some of his viewers can be. To some weirdos in the Pokémon collecting hobby, "scalping" is a capital offense.

If you want to have a discussion on why Chloe is being called out, or questioned when nobody else is, that's probably fair. However, to say it's slimy for the locals to buy and flip outside the Pokemon Center but it's "just business" for a content creator is a bit of a stretch and wild to me. I do think there's some credence to what OB is saying. Let's call it for what it is, scalping. Cards or merchandise, it's all the same. Let's just treat everyone the same.

I am simply amazed at all the drama. This is the business people. We buy cards and we sell cards. If I buy the last pack in existence and someone wants it, they are going to pay. Is that scalping? When did scalping become bad? There are websites that do that with event tickets! We are all bad people because we see opportunity and take it. Haha sealed product investors are really evil.
