Where did you get your opossum? I looked for breeders online and they are either non-existent or their website seemed sketchy. I also don't trust the exotic pet sales websites. I'm still doing research on them, but finding good breeders is hard!

Hi thank you for the info. I do have a question what kind of bedding do I put at the bottom of the cage? Example: shredded news paper, straw, cat litter???

Never use cat litter for any animal that is not a cat. You can use carefresh for opossums.

I have an important question.. I have a very big passion for animals and i do research all the time about owning an exotic/ not common animal such as a skunk or sugar glider. All research shows you should have a vet lined up for an exotic pet before you get it. Who do you go to? How do you find one? Because I have not had luck. Thank you and I LOVE your channel!!

Oh wow! I've never heard of them, but he's so cute!! They sound easier to care for than a sugar glider from what you said, a lot cheaper to. Maybe I'll consider one of these guys instead of a glider in the future, I'll start researching them now!

+Armored Wings I would agree, they are easier and cheaper. Especially since you only need one and with sugar gliders you have to have two or more. They have small cage requirements and they also eat less than sugar gliders.

+Happy Tails Considering the career I'm after will have me outside working with horses most of the day, maybe this little guy will be a better pet for me than a glider. I wouldn't want them to get lonely. Would you recommend a 1.5 foot tall wire cage topper for a 20 gallon aquarium so it has a good space to climb around? I like to build stuff for my pets, it seems like a good idea but since I've never had a small animal I thought I'd run the idea passed someone who does have them.

Frozen pinkies is one of the best food sources for them. It's packed with calcium and protein. If you are considering one as a pet, you should be comfortable with frozen mice. 😊

Would it be ok to maybe reverse their day night cycle so that during the day the lights in their room are off (like night) and in the night the lights are on (so to them it is day)?

+Kameo Hosley no, don't try to change a nocturnal animal. If it's schedule isn't right for you then it's not a good pet for you.

I wouldn't suggest taking care of a baby opossum. The only reason I have ever taken care of one is because it was orphaned, and the rehab center wasn't open until April 10.

Hi i just got a little boy jan 2nd he is about 10 weeks old i cannot get him to eat fresh fruit or veggies i cut them up thinly so he can easily eat them but he is not interested. He likes the dried papaya from exotic nutrition but i have to tear it up for him to eat it. But he eats insects like no ones business ,he also likes the opossum food from exotic nutrition as well i just cannot get him to eat fresh fruit/veggies any suggestions?

He is a baby so his diet should be mainly protein since that is what he needs. Its perfectly fine if that is all he eats. keep him on insects and pinky mice. Check out my opossum playlist

Aine Davis their are different in other places they are also big were I come from too and I am guessing that the size is because of predators in the wild so that they are harder to spot in the rainforest so yea 🙂

Not all can use a parrot cage only a adult can. Mine was smaller than a house mouse at 6 weeks old and they would walk out of one easy

It has two purposes. 1) the cage had a wire floor set above the slide out tray. I removed the wire and put a plastic sheet in its place, and I added the brick so that he can't lift it and slide the tray out 2) it keeps one of the branches in places so that he can climb it to reach his wheel.

K.. Except they are both darkling beetles and one is treated chemically with what is basically a fly pesticide that increases the number of times they molt, their growth and prevents them from turning into beetles. The few that do are sterile.

Why would you cook chicken for him just feed it raw all meat should be raw never cooked. I don't understand how people don't understand this. I always ask have you seen your dog cat or other animal go to your stove and start cooking? Then why are you doing it. Waste of time and power.

But I wacthed that video about how to convince your parents to get a pet and I really want a hamster but my mom dose not like animals and is scaared any tips? Also we have two dogs andmy dad said no because hhe thinks that they will eat it if it was too ascape :(
