Oppenheimer - Can You Hear The Music (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann
Many of you asked for it, now you get it! "Can You Hear The Music" is the most interesting track from the new Oppenheimer soundtrack by Ludwig Göransson and could also be seen as the Main Theme. While this musical piece is very short and consists of a constantly repeating run (right hand in this case), the biggest challenge is the total of 21 tempo changes, which is why I practiced and recorded the arrangement with a click track. Since the right hand is already reserved for the run, which is played by the violins in the original, the left hand is responsible for melody, accompaniment patterns and bass notes at the same time. My goal was to write a playable piano arrangement that would still remain true to the musical character of the original. To do this, I had to adjust a few tempos, though I maintain the basic rules by which the tempo changes in the original. The upward moving first half of the run is in a ratio of 1.0:1.3 to the downward moving second half, which means that the second half is always 1.3 times faster than the first half. In addition, the overall tempo increases by 10 bpm after each completed run in the original. I adjusted it so that it only increases by 5 bpm at some points in the middle of the piece, so as not to end up in an unplayable tempo at the end. I hope you like it!
Any suggestions for future arrangements? Please leave them in the comments.

I don't think alot realize just how difficult this piece is. It's not that it's fast its that its time continuously changes in such a short span. You sir, have immaculate talent.

For me the right hand in that speed is more difficult than the chaning patterns in the left hand. You have to understand that the downwards pattern in the right hand is still in 6/8 but double speed, so eighth-notes become much faster.

Patrik, if you can can you please arrange the song 'Pehla Nasha' by Udit Narayan. This would mean a lot to me and my fellow Indians. This is my dad's favourite song and I want to suprise him on his birtday with your arrangement. Please will you do it? Everyone like the comment so Patrik sees this.

One of the main reasons i started playing piano is your interstellar cover, and ever since then I've listened to almost all your masterpieces by now, and even learned some more of them. I would love it so much if you would consider making a cover for Evil morty theme (real name: for the damaged coda) I would love to hear it and also learn it from your style.

It just goes like a chain reaction. Whoever performed this masterpiece is a walking metronome.

I was seriously waiting for you to arrange this piece..... It has such a beautiful refrain, and I always thought it would sound nice on piano, but the enormous layers of orchestral parts and the precise accentuation needed to actually bring the melody out meant that I didn't really think any of the other piano cover quite did it justice. But of course, you had to come in and change everything :) Seriously, I always find it amazing how many layers you can convey with only 10 fingers....
