Welcome to Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Call to Arms" playthrough. In this video I will show you the gameplay of a full missions as well as the MechLab where you customize your Battlemechs. Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is a game about stompy Mech action. You take command of a mercenary company and try to grow your income, salvage Mechs and hire Mechwarriors. The game includes a campaign with a vast storyline.
This DLC is all about Melee Mech Combat. With new Melee focused weapons like hatchets, axes and swords you can dominate the battlefield in close quarter combat. Apart from a bunch of new Mech Variants a new Mech joins the ranks of Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries: The Hatchetman. This 45 ton Medium Mech can cripple enemies with its Autocannon and Medium Lasers at range just to close in and take components with its Hatchet.
The gameplay is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

Always, a joy, Baradul. One thing to note about your MAD-5A build, though: it is massively overcooled. You have almost double the cooling/sec than your generated heat/sec. I would recommend an advanced TC for either the gauss rifle or lasers instead of the TC heat.

Binary Lasers are hot! Basically double Large Lasers. If he drops the MLs, he might be able to fit Binarys and Large Lasers in various locations. That'll rebalance the heat/dmg ratio, maybe get it running a bit undercooled per second?

I was playing what I thought was a normal warzone mission, and good ol' Coyote sent an attack Leopard after me. Turned my milk run into mission impossible. My Annihilator with Arrows was completely overheated just running its LAMS constantly. Squad RIP

Just wondering why you are not doing the big Combo missions? The loot multiplier is awesome and it makes it more of a challenge on your whole team to get through 3 back to back missions with no chance to back out...

You could have taken the small cockpit out of the Marauder II since you didn't need the slot anymore.

On one hand, the MAD-5A is overcooled to hell and back. On the flipside, your pilot gets a nice, air-conditioned cockpit 😎

Nothing makes you reevaluate your builds quite like Coyote missions. I'm sorry the Corsair went down that way but that's what happens with a niche role mech

Agree I think if he keeps his arrow Atlas, those lances are weakened enough prior to a melee attempt.

As long as the arrow doesn't shoot his allies in the back/splash damage. The end game missions (anything in the 250 difficulty) really punishes you for NOT having a well rounded mech with TONS of ammo

@@EverCr0ss I don't think the A.I. can do friendly fire. They can definitely hit themselves but not each other. Unless Bara set that as an option in the beginning, I don't remember.

You are REALLY not going to like the Hyper Laser and it's unusable by an NPC. Have to hold the button down and it makes crazy amounts of heat for very slow damage.

I have a Mauler in my lance right now with 2 LRM's 10s , 2 L Chem lasers, and 4 Light riffles. It's a a damn good support mech and fun to play. You don't give those riffles much credit. lol

On my MW5 play through I got a Marauder II Risc. The load out on it had a spinal mount heavy gause rifle. 2 RAC 5's and lasers. I rebuilt id and kept the spinal HGR and the 2 RAC 5's then changed the lasers to 2 clan ER large lasers, I did put the Radical double heat sync kit in. 3 double bins of HGR ammo and 3 double bins of RAC 5 ammo. the rest is heat syncs and max armor. Clan UAC 20's are amazing. I have not seen hyper velocity gause rifles yet but I have seen hyper velocity AC's. They have a much faster travel velocity and I believe a longer range but no change in damage. RAC's are fun because of the continuous fire as long as you hold down the button for the group they are in.... at least until they jam. They do have a jam gauge on the weapons pannel.

I remember another playthrough that you used Ultra20s into the Mauler... because the damage didn't change at distance it was devastating. But like you said, there are other mechs that can do the same thing. Still want to see a Supercharger on that Banshee.

Another good video, thanks Baradul - I have been enjoying this modded series a lot especially now that you are getting into the late game. I liked that you spent some time in this video looking over the mechs you have and trying to optimize some of them. I would suggest you do this for *all* your mechs, or sell the ones you're not using. I know your viewers are split on this kind of thing but I for one enjoy the tinkering around in the MechLab. To that point, and someone mentioned this several videos ago, you have had a Zeus Snokomish sitting in cold storage for several videos now. If you're not going to use it, which you haven't been, you should strip it for parts. I'm pretty sure there are a couple high tier (4?) UAC-5s on this mech which you could use to upgrade your Carapace King Crab so that it has all high-tier UACs. One other more general point. I realize that you're trying to produce entertaining videos that get high engagement, so you want to keep the tempo up and get into the action as fast as possible, and based on watching your videos for quite a long time it seems like you're naturally an improvisational guy just trying to have fun, but it might benefit you to slow down a little bit when you're reviewing things or making choices. It seems like you miss things quite a bit because you're in a hurry. This is not a huge deal of course, but knowing the particular kind of nerd that is really into MechWarrior content, I'm sure there are a lot of fans that get irrationally frustrated when you glaze over a piece of salvage you've been looking for, accidentally leave the wrong equipment in mechs, forget about going back to missions you said you were going to do, etc. That's all just quibbling though - overall these videos are really entertaining, even for somebody like me who doesn't actually play MW5 lol. EDIT: As other people have mentioned throughout this series, another thing you should review is the AI roles for all your mechs - maybe this will help them stay out of situations like what blew up your Corsair in this video. I think you have done this with some of the mechs but not all, I don't think.

Baradul I hope you read this bc the benifit schould be obvious and u got better Ammo/Ton than a long Tom ; ) I feel free to suggest a Build for the MAD II as well thing about 3 Large Chem. Laser and ton down the ballistic to Heavy or Medium Rifles + the veary nice config of LLasers you already have. Thx Bara for keeping us up to date with your Videos, really enjoy your effort! 😃

2 x sniper arty is my fav build, but i run it on carapace. 2 sniper, TC projectile predictive & 5 x SRM4 ( YAML). Now hunting for an omega for 3x sniper

you still seem to guess your cooling in a build. there is a nifty block of numbers on the topleft of your mechbay, where you have weaponheat/s and cooling/s right next to each other. ;)

Before being snarky a block of numbers he has quoted off before so he has seen it is only numbers it is easier to understand your heating setup by firing it sometimes. Rememeber he has played roguetech and mechwarrior online for literally years so chill out 😎

When building an energy focused mech it's helpful to compare the Weapon heat/s to the Cooling heat/s on the mech lab summary display. On your Marauder II you have 2.94 Weapon heat/s and 3.99 Cooling heat/s. As you observed you have an excess amount of cooling available. You may want to consider replacing the TC Heat with Advanced TC Energy, upgrading some Medium Lasers to Large Lasers by dropping some double heat sinks or if you can find the components install a modular target computer and outfit with BC Heat, BC Energy and other modules. Once you get late enough in the game you may consider going into the YAML options and disabling the equipment rarity check box. If you do that you'll have access to nearly all non-weapon components at the industrial hub including MASC, supercharges, structure, armor, cockpit and the like. Really comes down to the preference on whether you want those items to remain rare or if you want to build optimized mechs sooner rather than later.

for the melee mech you need a supercharger and a mask and maybe a mobility gyro. I built yesterday a hunchback as melee, pirate supercharger + mask3 + mobility. Normal speed is 85kph, with mask 285kph!!!! right now I am working on giving him proper jump jet capability and maybe lam stuff, to melee flyers out of the sky!...it´s so much fun :), even the AI can handle this mech very well.

What mod do I require to be able to start in a year of own choosing and keep loadouts in cold storage. Currently have yet another weapon (both) and yet another mech lab but even though the tab is selected to allow loadouts to be kept in cold storage, they just do not?

if you don't like the fact that you get paid and salvaged for rescuing the mission, then simply don't take extra money when negotiating and salvage won't take any at the end of the mission. You don't have to rely on fashion for everything. It would be a shame if this series ended too soon.

Favorite personal build: Highlander (melee specialist variant) assault battle axe, 2 SBLL, LRM-15w/arty, SRM-6, 2 ML. Double HS, Endo, supercharger and a 320 rated XL engine. Sprints at 90KPH and takes cockpits with Hatchet shots

Baradul, danke fürs like, hmm, ja der Corsair Frankenmech ist tricky, bin an dem auch schon verzweifelt, was ich aber schon festgestellt habe und relativ gut funktioniert ist ein gesunder Mix aus Panzerung und diverser Waffen, Empfehlenswert sind da, und das ist das Problem und Gauss, die sind einfach zu schwer für das wenige das man da verbauen kann, was ich empfehlen würde wäre für den Nahkmpf, verbau eine 6er srm Magpulse, damit schaltet der Frankenmech jeden Gegner ab der zu nahe kommt, dann auf jedenfall statt 2 Gauss nur eine und als zweites Kaliber die schwere Kanone der Piraten die man in den Mods die du spielst bekommen kannst, die hat einen hohen Schaden, lädt aber relativ lange nach und produziert mächtig Wärme, aber ist machbar, statt ppk´s würd ich Laser verbauen, etwas für Distanz und etwas für die Nähe, die Piraten Frankenmechs sind als reine Sniper Mechs einfach nicht konzipiert ..... wenn ich am Sonntag wieder in meiner Bude bin schau ich wegen einem Build mit deinen verbaubaren Teilen und schicks dir dann via Discord, vielleicht inspiriert es dich ja ein wenig ...... oder wenn auf Nähe konzipieren willst, bau ihm die 4fach MG´s ein, wobei die guten gibt nur von den Clanern und da bist ja nocht nicht, da kommt noch so geiles Zeugs, aber vieles viel später, da wirst wohl noch die einen und anderen Jahrhunderte überbrücken müssen ....

Been co-playing these mods along with you and noticed a few things. (1) Yes, the cold storage doesn't strip your mechs like intended in vanilla which is great for benching mechs for those multi-drop missions. If I'm not using them, I keep and store my collection of Hero's here. The downside is now stripping is done manually. Also, there are time when you cannot strip items from a salvaged mech if you don't repair it first. (2) Next, the engine heat sink option doesn't do what it says in that it allows those heats sinks to be used on the mech. You can use whatever heat sinks you wish anywhere in the mech, so it's not technically correct. Logically, you only want to drop high slot sinks there anyway, like the IS doubles. You can add Clan, Radicals, Protos wherever else you want. (3) Doing the multi-drop missions has an exploit - completing each drop adds the previous drop's salvage awards to it. I've had missions where the 3rd or 4th drop gave me over 200 salvage points. So, it was 50 the 1st, 100 the 2nd, 150 the 3rd and 200 the 4th for a total of 500 salvage points for all 4 drops out of a single mission. Sure makes collecting mechs a lot easier. Be sure to have enough pilots for these missions - 8 is barely enough. (4) Bara, it looks like you are still using the antenna mod in your play throughs, but it wasn't listed earlier?

1:1 cooling/heat is optimal. Tough luck with the Corsair.

4 heat generation : 2.5-3 heat dissipation OR 4 heat generation : 2 heat dissipation + 1coolant pod (4 uses for 1 ton, instantly reduces heat almost down to zero) You don't shoot your weapons all the time, so 1:1 is a bit overkill imo

Yes it is. I have a specific mech I use for melee that is basically a guaranteed one or two shot kill on everything, clips along at 200kph, and assuming you don't do one very silly thing, basically can't die.
