I only have one thing to say: Penetrator. It's a legendary full-auto sniper rifle with a red text, but it's bugged so that it always shows up as green, blue or purple. With lvl 50 proficiency which doubles the fire rate AND damage (only shotguns do both of those as well), coupled with increased mag and ammo regen AND the regular extra crit damage that comes with snipers makes a sniper-specced Mordecai capable of the highest dps in the game, provided you hit them crit spots fairly often. Crawmerax becomes a joke.
Mordecai was my first. I always felt Mordecai to be for expert players, due to his somewhat weak action skill, but potential high dps. Once Mordecai is dialed-in with the right gear, his ranged-dps is outstanding.
As nice as that is I wouldn't suggest it the game is pretty much done at this point I'm sure it's still popular just not enough to make build videos on it
Trespass is great in the story because shields become very common (shields individually are often relatively small but once you've shot hundereds of them it really adds up), especially on those Crimson lance elemental troops that all have shields, it also allows for pot shots because shields regen but health doesn't so if you need to duck out of a fight they aren't mitgating the damage you dealt by restoring thier shield. Against Crawmerax (and a few other bosses) it's near worthless since shields don't come into play.
4:45 Ok, so I might have to disagree with this. So many enemies have shields, so many bosses as well, that being able to get right at their health is pretty useful. You can get a low-damaged sniper with high crit, get a headshot and instant drop them. Of course, if you have a high damage high crit sniper, trespass has less utility, but that also requires you to have good gear (less likely to happen at low level). And maybe it’s a placebo, but I think you can get the corrosive debuff applied to enemies health, amplifying your damage to their health. Like, you’ll notice the corrosive dot attacks the shield first, but the next time you fire, the direct damage you deal to an enemies health is increased. I tried this with a Maliwan crux, and the damage seemed to accelerate as I kept firing against an enemy with a shield. That shouldn’t really happen if the debuff isn’t applied, but to be fair, I don’t have the actual numbers to back that up. Could be a placebo effect, but might be some merit to it. TL;DR: Trespass is pretty useful in the lower levels, until you get really good gear. Might also allow you to get the corrosive damage debuff to health even when the dot is eating at an enemies shield, so kinda free extra 15% damage.
Bloodwing is garbage at the start, but amazing after you level him up. In the early game, with 5 points in Swift Strike, Blood does more damage than your guns and usually one-shots all enemies except bosses and badasses. His damage remains high after that, but you also add dazing and elemental debuffs like corrosion to it. I realize Bloodwing is a bad action skill when you have no points to invest, but IMO it really improves and becomes very useful when you get down to Bird of Prey. You're dazing, healing yourself, doing big piles of damage, hitting multiple targets and that's all passive on top of your guns.
Honestly bloodwing isnt that bad. It's not incredibly useful when fighting against a single high hp boss, but it shines when running around killing mobs.
Bloodwing has a problem with getting stuck on obstacles. Trust me if you plan on using him exclusively especially with a ranger class mod you'll run into problems indoors. Outdoors he's mostly fine but indoor locations he'll constantly get stuck in or on walls, the ceiling, whatever.
Im sooooo excited that borderlands got remastered i never played the dlc because i had it on an outdated system but now that i can get it on ps4 im gonna get all the dlc
Can you share what weapons and shields and, if applicable, grenade mods you use for the Sniper, the Gunslinger, and the Truxican Wrestler? And quite possibly the COMs, if you don't use those three.
Bro you just called two of the best skills mordecai has bad/okay. Bloodwing is incredible. As long as you have sniper ammo regen you basically have 0 cooldown on bloodwing which means you get free heals whenever you want with carrion call and out for blood. And you know you can call bloodwing back right? That makes your point about not providing heals when he deals damage almost completely unimportant. Basically once your shield drops and you think you’re about to take damage, call him back and instantly resend him. You basically have a free heal waiting for you all the time. And he deals enough damage to fully heal you most of the time.
he literally explains in the video why it is bad. even IF you call BW back, by the time he arrives i can be too late. just use the best nade in the game for constant healing (transfusion). sorry to burst your bubble but BW sucks compared to the three other action skills. TLDR, boosting BW is not worth the points. you get more out of other points.
@@AkiSan0 as a mordecai player of 10 years here, i hard agree here. bloodwing is never really worth it at all in any capacity (unless you are playing og borderlands 1 unpatched and you do the bloodwing duplication glitch) and stopping to use bloodwing at all just lowers overall dps tremendously for even trying to make her viable, and it just is never worth it. both the troll and especially the reaper heal better (since morde is one the only characters in borderlands history able to run a full melee build and have it be viable, plis the reaper being fixed in bl1 remastered, as it now heals on melee hit and deals 300% melee damage instead of 100%) and on top of that tranfusions as you mentioned, are so strong you very seldomly should ever even reach for blood at any point ever
@@AkiSan0 It's never too late lol. Just let him come back on his own and you'll be fine, he will still heal you out of second wind. And personally I think Lilith action skill sucks the most, she has the least amount of damage with it starting out. Bloodwing with the right specs in the middle tier will decimate entire groups of opponents. All my pkaythroughs with mordecai devolve into: Run into area>Throw bloodwing>collect loot. He's literally just that OP. None of y'all know how to play the game with him and it shows. Get the full BW damage, daze, and hit more people ability and its the best action skill in the game, hands down.
I absolutely stand by Bloodwing. You forgot to mention that he continues to attack even after you are downed. So if you spec into into Rogue then, if you launch bloodwing and happen to go down, you usually end up getting revived immediately with full health from Out for Blood.
He's not a good professional player like he claims lol. I exclusively use Mordecai on my playthroughs for his bloodwing skill. Being able to wipe out a horde of enemies and loot the area while bloodwing does his thing is priceless. "Bloodwing doesn't get you any kills." He really doesn't know what he's talking about because I clear whole sections of the game using him.
I'm so late, but I will wright one tought here. If you play as a sniper, your sniper com will give points to your carrion call skill anyways so it is wise tu put at least one point to that skill. That way every sniper shot you fire will decrease bloodwing cooldown. Which means faster daze, faster health recovery via out for blood skill. And a lot more distraction on battlefield. Actually daze has pretty good effect if you play as a sniper. A dazed enemy hits a lot less which means a lot less annoying aiming distraction to you. You can rid off the most annoying thing in this game: when an enemy hits you your aiming shakes. If the enemy hits less your aiming is a lot more stedier.
I really enjoyed this one. Mordecai is just so much fun, I loved watching the builds you did for him Bloodwing is alright, but not something I'd rely on a lot to be honest
Weapon merging in the remaster absolutely allows mordecai to absolutely destroy everything, with 4 suckerpunch pistols, dealing 2,000% more damage on Top of lethal strike and a truxican wrestler com
I've stumbled on your videos after I started playing borderlands 1 again with my 11-year-old boy and he wanted to play Lilith it's a shame you didn't carry on with more videos they a really good and informative
Get yourself a Skullmasher, put 5 points into carrion call and 1 into predator and enjoy immediately getting your action skill off cooldown with a single shot....
I know this is a really old video but blooding really isn't useless, especially not the most useless skill in the game. At level 69, with two well timed LB presses, I can go from almost dead to back at full health. I'm not sure any other character can get as much health back as fast.
im playing this game now on 360 with a friend and using mortecai. This class can go from ok to meh pretty quickly. The Bird I see can be good but in corridors, the bird kinda of just flies around and does nothing.
I really like your class setup videos, I recently just started playing borderlands after I beat borderlands 2...5 times. anyway I'm using Mordecai as my first character, and I wanna know what a good shield would be for him+guns. oh, and I also got the game of the year pack, so I wanna know when to start Dlc missions.
in other borderlands games i enjoy the action skills on some players, often the ones no one else likes (like claptrap)...but i dont really use action skills much.. so i like using Mordecai..just use bloodwing for elemental and healing. but he has good gun play. the other characters are VERY DEPENDANT on the action skills...and i just dont enjoy using them much....although the SPEED of Liliths ability i do enjoy. Mordecai is my favourite BL1 character. But i do find the ''loot'' skills like ransack suck... yea,get more $$ from enemies, but not health...and it TAKES AWAY from the amount of rare stuff that could drop. it seems that because they dropping so much $$ and ammo ect, you dont get as many rare drops. and YES Mordecai with pistols and revolvers is HILARIOUS !!! i spend half my game doing the 'evil laugh'.
Ransack doesn't take away any loot drops. If anything, if Ransack causes an enemies additional item drop to be a weapon, then that weapon will be at a guaranteed "Awesome Level" matching your character level. So an Awesome Level of 69 if your max level. Rarely any sources of loot in the game reach an Awesome Level that high.
Bloodwing IS the best action skill in the game and Brick's berserking the worst. Playing in 4player difficulty solo without Bloodwing is impossible. But overall Lilith is the strongest character solely because of Silent Resolve, then Mordecai, then Roland and lastly poor Brick (his best skill being Die Hard, without it he is like wet toilet paper).
While i am a pretty late on this, i invested nearly every skillpoint i had into bloodwing as i wasnt a fan of sniping or most of the gunslinger skills, and because of that, my bloodwing 1-shot 90% of the enemies i fought in my second playthrough, including eridians as long as i was using a shock artifact, bloodwing, while it does need a pretty accurate build skillpoint and class mod wise, it can be much more of a devastating tool than you made it out to be.
When I first started watching this there was some skills that he says that are bad and now at 13:15 he's just being hilarious about freaking pirate face BTW LOL also dude we need the cool down bloodwing is not useless and not a tool if you were Mordecai thanks for the help though.
Jakob's loyalty class mod, unforgiving with masher barrel, invest in gun crazy and anything pistol/crit. Might as well grab a modded weapon at that point.
You had me until Trespass, then I had to question EVERYTHING you said. TRESPASS IGNORES SHIELDS. TRESPASS IGNORES SHIELDS. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THAT???? In order to farm ANYONE you have to get pass enemies with shields. With Trespass can reduce their hit pool by MORE than 50% in some cases. DUDE, EXPLAIN YOURSELF.
Eridian are the only enemies with meaningful shield capacity. The increase in bullet damage is more of a reason to use the skill than the shield penetration.
I'm more of a combat medic mordi. My friend of course is brick and even tho I should snipe I'm like well shotgun them all. Only time I snipe is if turrets or if I know that I need to hang back.
It's a tool! It's a tool! It's a tool!!!!! It's deceiving you!! giggaaaa huh, no, no it's not cool, ever. Had to tap out at the 9:30 mark, sorry sam I think your gigga-juice was starting to kick in.
I believe there are 4 different underdome's in the moxie dlc. And the first time you complete each underdome with your character you get a skill point.
I feel like these are confusing, because it's sounding like you're saying... the wrong thing. So you get 1 skill point from Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot and 1 from Claptrap's New Robot Revolution on the first playthrough, and another from each of those on the second playthrough. You, of course, have to finish the main story of these DLCs, which for Moxxi is completing all three domes.
Do class mod reviews! I can't find good vids or forum posts going over BL1's class mods! Example for Zer0: forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/class-m0ds-for-zer0/67065/1
